Rick Willis gave one final wave to the crowd as he stepped off stage. Once he was out of sight of everyone there he wiped the sweat off his brow and went straight to his dressing room. He was getting tired. It had been a long tour, but finally he and his band mates would be getting some vacation time. After one more show. That night they would be getting on the bus and driving through the night to the final stop of their summer tour.
Rick was the front man for a rock band. They were fairly new on the music scene, with just one full record out. Their second would be coming out in time to hit stores for Christmas. They had a launch tour set up for the fall. The stops on their tour were not in major arenas, but they seemed to be selling out the good mid sized venues. He didn't know the details, but he felt the tour was a success. Still, he wanted to be able to enjoy the few weeks of vacation time he had and rest his vocal chords.
After a few minutes of just relaxing in his dressing room he went to the main green room for the band. The rest of the guys were there, as well as their manager. It was soon confirmed that their last stop was sold out as well. It was also by far their biggest show. They would end it off in a big way. Rick pulled aside the manager and also double checked that his plans for vacation were confirmed. He was happy to hear that they were.
Rick was not quite sure how he felt about his life. Sure, he had all he wanted, but he still wasn't happy. Something was missing. He just couldn't figure out what it was. He had his career as a musician, even if tours were a little more tiring than he had expected. He liked how he looked. He had never had problems with that. He was 6'3" with an average build. His blue eyes seemed to be a popular feature. He did keep his brown hair short, after an incident with a fan. He was able to get enough time outside to keep a light tan on his skin. He didn't want anything fake though. He made sure it was on his contract with the record label that they would not be allowed to mess with his image. Still, even now that he was getting enough money to easily support himself, he felt somewhat empty. He really just wanted to figure out what was missing and fill that hole in his life.
That night he climbed onto the bus once everything was packed up. Most of the fans had left a long time ago. There were a few hanging around. A couple of groupies that Rick just ignored as he stepped up into the apartment on wheels. In a minute he was up in one of the bunks in the back, sleeping before the bus even started moving.
