Flipping through the many pages of her notebook, Sarah brushed her long dark hair from her face. Her eyes straining to see the scrawled notes she placed on the pages in the dark. "Ronny I need light," she instructed waiting for the flashlight to be brought to her. This was the sixth unidentifiable human killed this month, by forces that the natural world wouldn't even begin to understand. Taking the offered flashlight Sarah flipped through, taking in the similar attack marks, the similar body and sight of the kill. "Same thing as always, young body, probably female found in the secluded part of the wood," she shook her head.

"I wouldn't be surprised if it was done by one of those beast," she stated, thinking of only one wolf like creature that often roamed the better parts of the woods for no other reason, other than they had to. Turning towards the body bag she approached cautiously, her hands gloved while she revealed the torn bits of the body. "We'll have to work quickly, the smell is too strong to stay quiet for long," she stated, jotting down certain marks that she could make out.

The flurry of pain washed over Walter Dunn with such a sense of fear and shock that it rolled him right out of bed. He lay on the floor of the caretaker's shack he was squatting in for the night, entangled in the bed linens and a pair of old, green Army blankets, and stared off into the darkness beneath the folding cot while he tried to catch his breath. That was a bad one. Worse yet. He hoped it was something that had happened, though. As much as he would love to save anyone who was on the receiving end of so much hunger and desire, by all rights it wasn't really his call to make. Not unless they were coming after one of his charges or if their attack might reveal too much to the world, and the authorities, that could not be overridden by rationale and coincidence.

"Crap," he said as he slid the covers off himself and sat up. "Better go see."

Fifteen minutes later, he found himself off in the thick part of the trees moving slowly and quietly towards a brightness that might have been will-o-wisps except for the barest touches of voices he could make out, and a rather familiar scent of various bodies as they mingled with the various cleansers, detergents, perfumes, and deodorants that covered their clothing and flesh. One in particular stood out, though, now that he was closer and the wind had shifted slightly.

Sarah...wasn't that her name?

When he got roughly fifty feet back from the woman and those assisting her, Walter coughed and then cleared his throat. "Hello," he called out softly. "Y'know, the park is closed this time of the night. Can I help you?" He slipped the cover from his ID around to the back and put it into a front pocket so that their flashlight would catch the reflection off his badge. Even if they couldn't tell what he was at this distance, it might let him get closer without having to resort to his special skills or talents.

"My name is Walter Dunn. I'm an assistant game warden, if that helps you decide."
