Hello, and welcome! I'm Tryste, and I've only recently started this forum. But I'm anything but new when it comes to role play. Between the AOL, AIM, and other forum sites I'm up to twelve years of experience overall. I'd like to think it shows, at least sometimes.

I'll go ahead and get my rules out of the way, so you can know if you want to continue reading. I've stolen a few from here and there, made up a few others, and the rest...well, let's just say that I've learned the hard way. More may be added later, and this is by no means a comprehensive list.

First.
I'm a dominant guy. I'm not one to be tied up, whipped, and be happy about it. If it's for a story, I'll tolerate it for a little while, but it will not be a long term thing.

Second.
I'm not here just for smut. Sex and all things with it is a natural part of play, just as it's a natural part of life...but no life is fully made up of sex, and no play should be either. Ask those that I RP with and you'll find that plot development and world building are a huge part of what I play.

Third
I only play male/female, and I only play the male role. I know. I'm a horrible person for limiting everyone so heavily.

Fourth
Please don't leave a plot without letting me know that you're leaving after we start. It gets old.

Fifth
Be sure to post reasonable lengths. I try for three paragraphs, though it sometimes falls to two during chats between characters. Include description of your character, her actions, thoughts, etc...it helps me when I post.

Sixth
I only RP through PMs. No threads, e-mails, or messengers at the moment.

Now, as for preferences. I love taking something basically historical and adding something fantastical to it. Be it medieval Europe and magical wizards or Classical Asia and chi-powered mayhem, some element of mysticism. Most of my plots will have some aspect of this included, though not all, and if it's a problem the mysticism can be removed. Most of my RPs will also have some action scenes in them, be it an attack by an invading army that my character is leading, or more personal, one on one attacks. For the most part, it will not be with your character, if you're playing opposite me, but one never knows. I prefer petite women over buxom, naieve over jaded, and longer hair over short. Other than that, my preferences are pretty well open when it comes to body type and personality. No door mats need apply, nor any characters younger than 14, though they can look younger than their age.

Most of the magic systems I prefer are rather nebulous and, not surprisingly, based off of books. Robert Jordan's system of Channeling from the Wheel of Time series and Jim Butcher's Fury craft system from his Codex Alera are two particular favorites. Links to their wikipedia pages can be found here and here. I'm not set hard and fast by the rules set therein, however...magic serves to continue the plot, not the other way around.

Now, on to the part 'm sure everyone's been waiting on...the plots I've been craving.

Invasion!: Medieval Europe is in turmoil, as the French monarchy begins to show it's weakness, and the English swoop in to take advantage of it. The Black Prince has been moving his armies into the French countryside in an attempt to claim all the more land for his people than just the Norman colonies his ancestors lay claim to. The French are no match for the furycraft that the English knights and Lords lay claim to, and one peasant girl finds herself forced into service for the English prince, however unwillingly.
(This one is taken, and I am not looking for more people to play it. This is left up for an idea of the style of role plays I prefer.)

The Recluse: The civil war, in America, was a time of great heroism, but even greater pain. The period immediately afterword, for the south, was one of horrible seizures as a newly minted country died and the U.S. reasserted it's control. Poverty reigns, and people are desperate for work. Yet even in this horrible time some people take time to dredge up old hatreds and prejudices, and the KKK is chief among them. They find out some horrible secret about an otherwise normal girl, be it a mixed heritage several generations back, an indiscretion or simply the gall to tell one of their members 'no.' She is kidnapped, brought to a remote forest before being told to run for her life. What follows is a moonlit chase through the back country till she comes across an old plantation house. There, an unexpected savior awaits.

This savior could be one of several types. He could be a wizard or spell caster, perhaps picking up his tricks from a gypsy that he met while fighting in 'the war', or even an outright channeler that has hidden his power thus far. He could even be a vampire, though with several caveats. He would be a far more classical vampire than some of the newer versions....strong, fast, resistant to damage from all sources other than fire and sunlight, with a hypnotic gaze that can demolish a person's free will with his concentrated attention. I would be up to playing this in the civil rights fight of the 1960s, also, with much the same plot, save that he would be a bit more anachronistic, with a very 19th century fashion sense and peculiar turns of phrase.

Edit: Closed due to too many requests/active RPs.

***Craving***
The Flux: In the SAS, there's a phrase used to describe an unusually lucky soldier. It's said he has 'the flux', and things just seem to work out for him. He can squeeze off a shot at a hundred yards with his pistol and watch the Nazi on the other end of that bullet pitch back from his shot. He can know that the bomb is coming and hit the deck just below the explosion, yet somehow escape unscathed. Private Michael has the flux in spades. What he doesn't realize is that it's a manifestation of his own supernatural powers emerging.

When he's wounded from a stray piece of shrapnel on some no-name atoll in the Pacific everyone is sure he's dead...wounds go septic all the time in the tropical humidity, and once that sets in the doctors can't do anything else for him. Things continue as expected, until one day when a young nurse is in changing his bandages. He suddenly gasps in pain and they both watch as the wound across his belly re-knits itself, without a scar. The only question is, can they keep the secret? And what happens when the Japanese begin to turn loose their own super soldiers? This would be based off of the fury craft system from Codex Alera, if a bit more loosely than the Invasion storyline.

The House of Swallows: In a land that will become known as China, the Qin have pushed an aggressive assault into the lands nearest them, led by an army of highly trained fighters. Some faster than the wind, some stronger than the mountain's bones, some able to breathe fire and others able to use their weapons to unnatural degrees of skill. The Qin have already captured Han and Wei, but now they come up against a far stronger opponent in the Chu. Before, their fighters have been uncontested in battle, for ordinary men were swept away like so much chaff before the wind. But the House of Swallows rests within Chu's borders, and the men and women within have been fighting the Qin with all their might.

When a member of the House of Swallows moves to assault the Emperor of Qin, though, something goes wrong. Horribly wrong. Before he can get close to the Emperor, his plot is discovered. He is wounded, and flies to the wind, seeking refuge. When a young woman, betrothed and yet already a widow from the wars, takes him in, he takes the time to rest. She never guesses his secret until the Qin army arrives, seeking him. Out of his feelings for her, he takes her with him when he leaves, and spirits her away to the House of Swallows, where it is discovered she has the talent as well. The only question is, does she wish to develop it?

Based loosely off of the Jet Li movie Hero, as well as the history of the Warring states period in China. The magic system would be fury crafting, but seen through the lens of the wuxia style. Ie: Long impossible jumps instead of outright flying, all wrapped in a cinematic flair.

The Duelist (Updated 8/11/11!)
In war-torn Europe war is nearly constant, low scale warfare. What keeps it from expanding? The Danish law that forms the common law for most of the known world. One of the central tenets of that law is that God will know who is right, and will give strength to he in the right. Thus, the concept of the duel was born. Yet that was for olden times, two men fighting their own disputes. Now, the duelist guilds in what will become in later ages Germany are the final arbiters. The fighters there train constantly to hone their skills in one on one combat, using their two handed swords for both attack and defense, wearing no armor and carrying no shield. The best charge nearly ten ounces of Gold for a single fight, with double that to be paid to their families should they fall.

Yet one duelist is a member of no guild. Johannes is unnaturally skilled with his sword, though it is sold only rarely. He once moved constantly, and was often found fighting for those in the right as he sees it without seeking any form of aid. He would be unknown entirely were it not for his famous duel before the walls of Bonn Castle, where he and the then most famous duelist Araris faced one another and fought for nearly five hours before finally coming to a head. Araris slipped, and Johannes lashed out, his sword stopping a bare inch from Araris' throat. Araris pleaded mercy, and Johannes allowed it, only to be railed at by his own employer, who had written the contract so that the duel, in order to be legal, had to be sealed by blood. As the man railed at him, Johannes ignored him. When his patron slapped him, Johannes merely raised a brow. When the man drew a dagger, Johannes drew his sword and killed him in one swift motion, before stalking away. No one has seen him since. Yet there might be a chance he lives yet, and if he does, his heartstrings might be tugged by one whose need is sincere enough.

I'm thinking an ideal opposite character to Johannes would be a young woman who lost someone to one of the members of the duelist guilds, or a nobleman normally beyond reach of the law. If she were able to find him, and convince him of her plight, he might just unsheath his sword once more. Looking for romance and a bit more historical realism for this plot, with an author's flair for making history fit plot, rather than the other way around.

There will be more, later, but these will start this set off. If you have a plot in mind, send it to me. If you want to play one of these posted above, I'll love you forever.

I look forward to replies!
