The world seemed so strange, no maybe it wasn't the world maybe it was fate that seemed so strange or cruel it would depend on the perspective on which one looked at it from. One being did not find the world to be a particularly nice place for his time had been limited to bad experiences so far, wherever he went bad things just seemed to follow. This world would never accept him he thought as he walked down the street with an intense glare in his eyes, of all the things that could have happened this was one of the most insulting. He had been placed in the female knights division, he was a better warrior than most of them and yet he was given to the smallest of the divisions that got hardly any respect. The female knights were known as trophy knights, the kind you would put in the very back so they didn't have to fight, some were allowed to but there was no guarantee that they would ever see even a hint of combat. Those that were any good at combat usually didn't stay a knight they would get promoted to a noble status and no longer have to fight, he would never have to worry about such a thing happening as he was less than even the female knights in the eyes of these humans. He could their stares boring into him from every direction as he walked towards the female barracks, everyone of them looked at him with disgust or hatred radiating from their bodies it was sickening to be around. His yellow eyes seemed to radiate the same thing back at them as a defense, he did not wish to be bothered he just wanted to go on his way, at least his luck was holding for that he thought as he made his way through the crowds easily.

Now as to who this was well everyone within the city of arthen had heard of him, the little pet wolf demon of the aging battle master, a man renowned for his prowess on the battlefield when he was younger only to turn soft they said with age. The thing he picked up on the way from war had a name or so they said and the name was Lucas Daemon though the daemon part was added by those who still considered him a monster like the very demons that had ransacked a city to the north. War had been declared and he told his would be father that he was going to fight for the humans, they despised him but he had seen the good in some like his adopted father who raised him like a real son almost like he was human. He was given nothing when he signed up, no armor no sword nothing as they said a monster can just use what it had. If his father had not given him a chest plate and his personal sword he would have nothing to go to battle with, now he wore it with pride but those around him saw no warrior they saw an animal at best. Lucas could care less as he had become indifferent to the stares and feelings around him, maybe it made him less human as his father liked to say but if he allowed those feelings in they would just crush him. Now he broke away from the crowds as he turned the corner and then entered the training area for the female knights who were said to be training right now. He did not want to be here but he had signed up and now he had no choice, he should have known better than to think that they would allow him in the front lines but he had hoped for a moment he could be of some use rather than a dead weight or monster to everyone around him.

War had been called but a few days ago as the demons had overrun a major city to the north, it was chaos they said as there had been no warning just an army attacking the midst of the night. Within hours the city was devoid of human life, then instead of occupying the city or leaving it they burned it to the ground every last bit so no one else could use it and then they left. The garrisons and other soldiers around the countryside were holding them back with hit and run tactics but the army was far too large to be stopped by a handful of raiders and everyone knew they would reach here eventually. Scouts had been seen wrapped in the blackness of night they slipped into the city searching for weaknesses, Lucas himself had seen one a night ago but it had not attacked him it merely stared at him before disappearing into the shadows from whence it came. He wondered what this meant as the shadowy scouts often tried to kill those that saw them but that shadow had stared at him like he was an ally, Lucas suddenly shook his lupine head dispersing the very thought from his mind.

Nicole Anjou

The morning felt relatively peaceful in spite of the state of recent events. War had been declared yet the morning for the female knights had been relatively normal. The schedule hadn't changed much, they were still training at the same time, their morning still started off with helping each other don their armor and comb out their hair. There was a constant aura of nonchalance in the female barracks. It wasn't that these knight didn't want to be taken seriously it's that they knew they weren't going to be. Of course they were training hard when they could, and they had even extended their training times by a few hours a day, the so called 'just in case training,' where a couple male knights come over to, as they put it, 'show them how it's done.'

Nicole buckled the last few straps on her armor, making sure it was secured to her body, the last thing she needed was a wardrobe malfunction during training. Even though this was just training if her armor happened to slip at the wrong moment she could be hurt or possibly even killed. She strapped her sword in at her waist, it was what most people would consider a short sword, but it was sharp with a slight curvature to the blade and a weight at the end on the back of the blade. It was specifically designed for quick accurate chops that were capable of severing limbs, perfectly balanced and decorated in the colors of her family, as was the rest of her equipment. She didn't carry a shield, as she was thin and slightly shorter than the average female knight. She was a knight who relied on agility her armor covering only strategic places on her body.

Nicole Anjou
was born the eldest child of a noble. Her father Nicolas Anjou had managed to disgrace himself in battle fifteen years prior and since then his house had lost money and more importantly honor, in the eyes of the nobility. Seeing no future in her home Nicole sought out in the only way she could to regain her family's honor. She picked up her fathers sword, and had her own armor made in the style her family has used for generations and joined the war.

After her morning rituals were finally complete she made her way to the training field. Several early birds has already began to congregate. Something was different this morning usually training in the morning was done without much talking, as the women had enough discipline to get it all out before they came to the field. However, on this day everyone seemed to be whispering and laughing and talking about all sorts of things. Nicole though something interesting must be going on, somebody better fill me in. She walked in maneuvering around some of the people she wasn't too fond of in search of those she'd become friends with. " Hey Cecile!" She called with a wave of her hand, before quickly walking up to her much larger friend. " What's going on?" She asked as the curiosity was just annoying as far as she was concerned. Cecile looked down at her " Well... from what I understand.. they are sending that wolf demon knight to come train and live with us." Nicole rolled that idea around in her head for a moment not really understanding what the big deal was, she could definitely already draw the direct line as to why he'd be going to their division. " Where will he sleep? He is a male right?" Nicole asked innocently of her friend. " Who cares!? " Cecile exclaimed, " None of us even want him around, let alone in our home!"

Lucas looked around the training area for the female knights many of them already out and about doing the training they had been assigned, none of them even paid attention to him they just gave him a quick often hateful or disgusted look before turning back to their training. Lucas shook his head as the thought of them hating his placement could be no worse than his, he walked forward slowly towards the main home where he would find the leader of the female knights brigade, as he was walking by he could hear over the sound of swords clashing and armor banging around. They mentioned him which made him pause for a moment to listen, his lupine ears twitched as he listened very closely as one of them asked where he would sleep and if he was a male, well that is better than asking why a monster was around he thought to himself calmly. The next words made his ears twitch with annoyance as the other female said that no one wanted him around let alone in their homes, his head fell a little as he began to walk towards the main barracks once again, he was at least hoping they would have seen him a little differently maybe if they hated him as a male he could have taken it but instead they saw a monster of course.

Humans they are all the same, Lucas thought morbidly as he walked into the main barracks and had a couple of female knights jump out of the way surprised to see him enter so casually. He didn't even do anything and he could see fear in their eyes, what exactly was so frightening about his appearance he wondered to himself as he moved down the hall into the main room. The five female knights there that were discussing strategy all looked up simultaneously, it was a little creepy to Luca who just stood there until the leader spoke up in a harsh voice. "What do you want?" she asked bluntly, Lucas strode forward without a word and handed her the papers showing he had been assigned here to her division, as she looked at it he could see her just cursing whoever thought this was a good idea. "Fine come with me" she said as she strode out of the room with a purpose, he could see that she was probably the toughest woman here ready to fight with anyone but he wondered if she had the most skill at the same time. To Lucas only one human ever had skill and that was his adopted father, he had been the only person that Lucas could never beat as old age had not lessened him at all instead it gave him all sorts of new tricks to use against the younglings as he called them. He wondered if he would be able to sleep anywhere here as well from what he could see he was not going to get an amazing welcome, it was better than most places as so far his commanding officer hadn't called him a demon or monster or some other generic insult yet.

As they exited the barracks now he could see her looking around at the knights some of them had stopped to look at the two of them curiously, they probably figured she was going to throw him out. That was when the commander pointed and armored hand towards Nicole randomly she had decided to place him under her watch. "That one is the one who you will listen to" the commander said in a voice that pretty much said if he argued he could be prepared for quite a bit of trouble. So without a word Lucas just nodded and then the commander walked off like that solved all of the problems between her and him which made no sense as they had no problems. He sighed lightly as he began to walk towards Nicole now with a kind of defeated air, if he was right about this one she would have him doing nothing but battle drill after battle drill until it was dark because she was in charge. He did not march up to her instead he stopped a few feet from her so she wasn't all wary that he would eat her or something of the sort. His right hand came up and a single clawed finger pointed right at her head as he calmly spoke, "I am under your command" he said in a deep guttural tone, it was the kind that could be turned into a ferocious roar in a second or a mournful howl the other.

(Bah not great either sorry mind is like blegh.)

After the gossip group had dispersed most people quickly went about their business, mainly because the highest ranking individual out there got onto their case and yelled some pretty colorful words. Even though Nicole was more interested in their new recruit than getting her drills in for the day, she was forced to get to work. They started off with a few drills of just general fitness boring and repetitive tasks anyone would dislike to do every day. Going from push ups and sit ups to practicing the most basic of sword swings before breaking down into sparring partners. She was paired off with a large woman who Nicole wasn't entirely convinced was a woman.

The two walked off to get a little bit of space so that they weren't interfering with anyone else's space. This match was like many for Nicole. A big opponent with a large slow weapon. She danced around and avoided everything as the giant of a woman tried to land a blow with the flat of the sword, they were specifically trained to deal non-lethal blows in sparring if they hurt, or killed their partner they were punishable by a set of very strict laws. Nicole was good at this game, she wasn't strong at all but unless some one could keep up with her than that's all it was is a game. Nothing special she just fights smarter not harder. The beautiful and graceful dance she'd been working on ended rapidly as she spun herself inside underneath a very wide blow and smacked the side of her blade into and under a place in her opponents armor.

After she had a few moments rest she began to realize that something was off. Everyone was acting differently, the mood in the air had changed. She turned around and glanced about quickly noticing the direction everyone's eyes were focused on. Her heart sped up a little bit as she saw the large lupine creature walking towards her. A pang of fear shot through her body as she took in just how big and scary he looked to her. She tried to keep her composure however, she was already breathing heavily from her exercises and already had so many questions running through her mind. Her heart nearly skipped a beat when she heard what the commander said, she was still really low ranked no one should be under her 'command.' As Lucas walked up to her she tried even harder to keep herself under control. When she saw him point at her and heard his voice she was pretty sure she'd never been as scared as she felt at that moment. However her curiosity fought with her fear and drove her feet forward. She wanted to know about him now, she may feel tiny and weak when looking at him but there was something about him that had her interest piqued. She stood in front of him and extends a dainty gauntlet covered hand. " I.." she cleared her throat, to try and shake the fear out of her voice. " I am Nicole Anjou, pleasure to meet you."

Lucas could see it in her eyes she was scared of him just like everyone else around here, he could still not see why he seemed so frightening after all he had never harmed a human even if he was attacked first, he never did so because everything would have been in vain then and he would most likely be arrested and executed for it on the spot by the guards. Humans were much more terrifying he thought than he was, as he had seen the depth of their cruelty before, he had watched people tortured to death or had their throats slit so as they tried to breathe all that came to them was death. He could never do any of those things in cold bold there was just no way, the only thing he had ever killed was a demon when he was but ten years old, it was a tiny little thing and impling they were called basically servants to the bigger demons. He had found it flying around one day and decided to chase it around of course it ran away, but youth and curiosity seemed to get the better of it and he batted it out of the air with a clawed hand, when he went to go find it he found it crumpled against a tree not moving. Bored with the impling he had simply walked away to go back home as if it was nothing, soon after he learned of death and what it truly meant and he knew that he had killed that thing without even meaning to do so, he felt horrified and admitted it to his father who simply praised him for killing a demon.

Now his thoughts came back to the woman in front of him as she had extended a gauntlet clad hand towards him, this was the very first time that a human other than his adoptive father had wanted to touch him. She started to say something in a quiet shaking tone but soon stopped to clear her throat, he could tell that this was taking all of her willpower to stay in front of him like this so he did and said nothing until she began to speak again. She said that her name was Nicole and that it was a pleasure to meet him, this brought a perplexed look to his face as he honestly thought that he would die before he heard those words fall from the lips of a human especially a human warrior. He nodded and then brought his clawed hand forward slowly so as not to spook her, as his hand clasped hers gently she would feel it engulf her hand easily, but the strength he used was light at the most as he never intended to hurt her, his voice now came out once more. "Lucas" he said in a soft tone this time though it still seemed so deep compared to her voice or that of the usual human, he thought of smiling but the sight of his large sharp teeth would probably ruin the small moment he had going to he kept his mouth from smiling, "what is the first assignment?" he asked in a curious tone as his yellow eyes stared into hers calmly.

Nicole had spent a large part of her life training for the event that she hoped would never happen but was every day coming closer and closer to coming true. She really never wanted to have to fight against the demons but with the war closing the possibility was imminent. However it didn't change the fact that she had never before seen a demon up close until now. She wondered if he could hear her heart beating as fast as it was or if he was even aware of the fact that she was scared. Regardless of all that she shook his hand and actually believed herself when she had implied that it was nice to meet him. The female knight soon however became painfully aware that many eyes were on them, or as it seemed in her head, on her. She dropped his hand quickly her cheeks turning pink, she wasn't used to being the center of attention. She had to take a few shallow breaths before she was able to muster the willpower to speak again. " Since you're new it would probably be better if you just watched today. Maybe participate in conditioning exercises. You won't know a lot of our training drills but, hopefully after watching today you'll start to get a feel for them and tomorrow you can actively participate in everything.

Her mouth was dry and she realized she hadn't been talking very loud and also that most of her audience thankfully had grown bored. " Umm... after we're done training for the day we'll see about finding you a place to sleep and then I'll take you on a tour, so that you will know where all of the facilities are. Come find me when training is over and everyone is dismissed to carry on with their day." Nicole wanted to talk more but everyone began reforming up. There was still a long morning of drills to be done, the same as every day. Every one of these warriors had to be in tip top condition and had to be of one mind-set on the battle field. If it came down to them actually fighting it would most likely be a last ditch effort anyway, in their minds they could not afford to fail, when it came down to it.

Lucas could see that she was beyond nervous maybe she was even terrified to be around him so openly, if she had been surrounded by supporters or he was a little smaller maybe she wouldn't think him to me some kind of crazy monster determined to eat her. As she wondered if he could hear her heart beating so fast he could indeed, he could hear every movement and little sound around him thanks to these lupine ears of his. It was not a great ability though for it meant he could hear every dark comment or insult about him as he passed by the people whispering them, no one had ever come out right and said it to his face as well who would be stupid enough to try something like that against a demon he wondered. His thoughts were pushed away though as Nicole the human female who had been placed under began to speak after a little while, seemed like he would have to wait with her each time so she could muster up the courage just to tell him what to do. If that was indeed the case he was going to get bored rather quickly with her, he needed something more than a frightened woman even if he did respect her for being the first human to actually offer a hand and nice words to him. He nodded as she said that he would not do much today as he didn't know enough about their drills and battle plans to participate with the others, he assumed that was just an excuse to keep him from people but he nodded nonetheless. As she now said to come find her when he was done for the day he nodded again and turned away from her, he was not going to just sit around and watch of course but nor was he going to break the rules. At first he crouched on the ground watching their drills, the spear work was sloppy as the majority weren't strong enough to thrust it forward and pull it back quickly, they could do it but it was slow work. He said nothing as he turned his eyes over to the jousting section, it was small but it was there he could see two women riding towards each other at full speed with their lances ready.

It seemed that cavalry would be their strong suit he thought to himself as he heard the splitting of wood and the cry of victory from the woman who barely managed to stay on her horse. The sword work they showed against wooden dummies was shoddy at best, it was better than the spear work but if they went against a well trained sword unit they would be crushed. He sighed after watching for a little while and knew that if he participated in this he would be accused of showing off and then driven away by the knights. Unlike them he still held no title, when they signed him up there was no knight title for him there wasn't even a soldier title for him which meant if he died there would be no record of his existence. He stood from his position slowly and then walked towards the back area, he figured once he got behind the barracks or something big he could practice by himself until it was all done. Once he managed to get back there the sound of metal being drawn was quite apparent and a wicked blade came out, unlike the straight long swords most used his held a curved tip similar to a scimitar. All of the weight was in the tip to deliver powerful slashing and cutting attacks, the blade wasn't even finished it was just a bit sharp thing with no decorations and no hilt, he just held it like it was the perfect fit in his hand now. His breathing slowed as he took a step forward and then slashed downwards suddenly, the sound of his blade whistled through the air violently making him smile. His father had once been called master of the wind for that was all you heard before you died, Lucas never had such an ability though even as he trained under him day after day to make himself strong. So all he could do is practice more and more everyday until he became stronger, while his thoughts swirled and collided with each other his body would move.

His movements fluid and quick unlike the majority of beings his size, he never paused each movement of his blade set up another attack one that could kill on contact. He had no desire to capture a demon if he fought one he would kill it without regret, the sound of his cutting filled the air behind the barracks like an untamed song waiting to explode out more. His chest plate and sword glinted in the light that was barely there now, his fur caked with bits of sweat and his breathing a bit hard, he should have returned to find the female called Nicole but he had gotten lost in training. He thrust the blade forward then drove himself to the side with an elbow aimed at an imaginary opponent. It was something that his father had taught him shadow fighting, you imagine an opponent to fight and move accordingly, of course the person he imagined was his father. The elbow seemed to connect smoothly to anyone watching but Lucas fell to his knee's clutching at his stomach, he had envisioned that the elbow would connect but with the shoulder leaving his father open to gut him like a fish and he saw such images quite vividly.

Nicole watched him go as her heart steadied. She didn't really understand why she was scared of him, he was just so large and different. She'd never been around anyone so alien to her. She thought back about how he had obeyed her orders despite the fact she had no real power. Also, she thought back to the handshake and how gentle he had been with her hand, with his size he could have probably crushed her hand with a whim. His hand was warm though and she could feel his strength even though he was being gentle. Her thoughts mirrored these for the rest of her training session. She couldn't get the demon off of her mind. Completely without focus she continued her training although making several mistakes. She was generally thought of as one of the most competent knights in this division, but was considered to small and weak to be of any real use. However, she had gotten yelled at a couple times during this training session for making 'rookie' mistakes that her superiors didn't think were becoming of a knight of her talent.

The training session ended early this day, everyone's focus had been demolished by the complete and utter lack of military bearing that had been shown in the events of the day. The instructors new this and even felt the same exact way. They called off the last half of the extended practices. Nicole was fine with this as she was exhausted from the extra work she'd already had to do. She waited around for the people to clear out looking for her new follower in the crowd as she had imagined wouldn't be that difficult of a thing to do. To her dismay however as more people left to rest or go enjoy their free time he was nowhere to be seen. She kind of panicked a little wondering if he had just left or if he just wandered off on his own and possibly gotten lost. She asked a few people if they had seen him however, at the mentioning of him they seemed offended, as if their eyes were to good to see such a creature. She ran around checking a few places he was likely to be, the mess-hall, her own barracks and even ran around the courtyard again in case he was sitting down behind something. It was on a lucky whim that she rounded the barracks and saw him.

She watched him for a second his sword play was much better than hers, well.. better than anyone she'd seen. He was amazing moving so quick for someone his size. It was actually kind of beautiful in a way. She could make out everything almost as if she could see the opponent he had put himself up against. When he threw the elbow and dropped to his knees she was scared for him, having the instinct to run to his aide to see if he was alright. Instead she collected herself, she wasn't angry and for some reason she didn't really feel scared right now. Maybe because she saw him at a time where he appeared vulnerable or maybe it was just the initial shock of seeing something like him earlier, but now she was somewhat calm. " Hey you!" Her exclamation was soft, as if she were really happy to see him. "Glad to see your doing something productive" she said and walked up to him her right hand on her left wrist, for some reason she wanted to keep her hands occupied. " You kinda scared me when i couldn't find you. You shoulda told me if you got bored."

Lucas actually wanted to vomit right then and there as the image flew through his mind, he had seen himself get gutted by his father if that had been a real battle he would be dead, it was an advanced technique that let one feel death without actually experiencing it. When one learned this they had to be careful how often they used it, his father had told him there were men out there that used it everyday and it had driven them insane to the point where they thought they were dead. The first time his father used this on him was when Lucas asked what death was like, he was given a wooden sword and told to attack his father who was unarmed, reluctantly he obeyed and attacked though without a real drive to do so. Then he saw it a blade flashing down and cutting right through his windpipe, he had fallen to the ground and rolled around violently grasping at his throat until his father tapped him well smacked him on the head, Lucas had seen his throat cut he was certain of that but when he pulled his hands away there was no blood at all not even a tiny cut on his neck to show what he had seen to be true. That day he had been 'killed' three times by his father and each time he thought he was wounded it was nothing more than a vivid image of what would have happened in a real battle, today he realized he still had a long way to go before he could ever challenge his father to a real battle of skills. He would never try to kill the man of course but he would have liked to graduate from his teachings, how was he suppose to claim to be a soldier if he could not become better than his teacher he wondered to himself. As he was in the middle of shaking off the feeling of his own death Lucas noticed a stillness in the air, he could no longer hear the ringing of blades or the yells of victory from the training area, he must have taken too long in his solo training again he thought to himself.

His thoughts were confirmed when he actually decided to look up from the ground to Nicole who had just said hey you in a soft voice, his breathing still ragged as he tried to regain his footing but he stumbled a bit trying to keep his balance. It was like he was on a seesaw that went every direction instead of just up and down, he stomped his foot into the ground now and the sharp sound along with the force that reverberated through his leg helped steady him a bit. He now listened as she said that she was glad to see him doing something productive while walking towards him, he wasn't sure how to respond to that as well no one ever seemed to talk so casually to him before this. His ears went back like that of a puppy who had just been yelled at as she said that he had scared her when she couldn't find him and that he should have come to her if he got bored, "I'm sorry, it wasn't boredom that compelled me to set off on my own ma'am" he said in a low voice. He did not want her thinking he would run off to wherever he wanted whenever he wanted but at the same time he did not want to tell her that he would have shown up every troop in the training grounds with his practice, he was not looking for anymore negative attention than what he got already after all. "I will of course tell you where I am going in the future ma'am" he said in the same low tone as he suddenly spun his blade around flinging dirt from it and then in the same fluid motion as his sword play he sheathed it at his waist.

She watched as he got up from the ground. Maybe what was happening was a lot more serious than she thought it had been. When his ears went back like a puppy dog's her heart sank a little bit. She instantly was aware of how adorable she thought it was, yet felt bad for causing it to happen. However, his next choice of words caused her a twinge of annoyance. Ma'am? Did she look like a ma'am? How old did he think she was? She let him say what he was going to say cringing as he said the word again. When he spun his sword she stepped back instinctively with a bit of a scare. Her body quickly went back to being normal though. She was a little happy about that. However, she did have one problem with him that she was going to have to address before it became more of a problem.

" Lucas, I need to ask you a favor." She said as calmly as possible, " Please, don't ever call me ma'am again! I really don't feel like I look old enough to be a ma'am you're more than welcome to call me Nicole I don't mind that one bit. In fact that would make me happy." She talked so fast and emphatically that at the end of her speech she had to take in a rapid breath. This was going to be rough trying to get used to being in charge of anything. However she did still have a job to do. " Now do you want me to show you around or would you just rather try to find out where you're going to sleep tonight?" She smiled at him now that she had calmed back down. She looked him up and down again, marveling at how large he was, she still saw in her head how fast he moved with that sword. With him standing still with his ears back it seemed almost like he had two different sides to him.

Lucas could see that she was still nervous simply from her body language, it was practically screaming out that she was tense and worried to be around him by herself, he was actually surprised she came looking for him at all seeing as he wasn't the most liked person here. He cocked his head to the side with his ears still down a little as she said that she needed to ask him a favor, he nodded unsure of what she might be asking of him. As she asked him not to call her ma'am again he nodded and his ears went down again as he felt like he had done something wrong, they perked up a bit when she said that he could call her Nicole instead, now he wasn't sure if he could do that as she was in command some sort of title or honorific was needed wasn't it he asked himself. But before he could really put anymore thought into this she spoke again asking if he would like her to show her around or if he would like to walk around on his own, he looked thoughtful as he wasn't really thinking of anything at the moment. What she had asked had really not sunk in all that well, a place to sleep for him was unusual as they would just send him somewhere saying a monster with fur would be warm no matter what, it was true he didn't need blankets but he did not like sleeping outside all that much especially with the shadow scouts out lately.

"Ummm I would like it if you were to show me around Nicole" he said in a nervous yet very deep voice, even now when he barely tried to speak the guttural sound came out. "I assume it will be away from everyone else seeing as what I am" he said in a rather dreary tone, he expected that he would be put somewhere far from the others. It could have been bad enough if he were just some human male sent to this group in shame but he was a monster male sent here because there was nowhere else for him to go. "If you like I can take a blanket and sleep outside of the barracks" he said calmly, he figured if he could suggest this there would be no reason to get all of the others riled up. "But if there is an empty room somewhere I would prefer that" he said in a throw away tone as he did not expect anything of the sort, he could have asked for the nastiest most run down room they had and would probably be denied even that but it never hurt to try he thought calmly.

She looked at him feeling kind of sorry for him. He was so quick to look at the worst option as a possibility. It made her want to stick up for him even if it probably wouldn't do any good. "Follow me than I'll show you around to the places you'll need to know." She motioned with her hand before heading back into the center of base. She headed to the armory first, just in case she wanted him to know everything in case he ever had to go get something or was ordered to be there for some reason. She didn't really walk very fast, she wasn't really in a hurry the day was over, everything that needed to be accomplished for the moment had been. " Lucas don't worry I'll fight for you and do the best I can to get you a nice room. You're on our side! I can't promise you anything but I'm gonna get you the nicest living conditions I can.. it should be the equivalent of everything we've got anyway. It's the least we could do, we're practically princesses in here anyway."

Nicole sounded a little bit more inspirational except for when she broke down into her rambling about how she didn't like the conditions her. For some reason she felt like she needed to fill his silence with her voice. She paused in her rambling and looked up at him for a moment, " Do you know the area out in town very well?" Her eyes focused on him as she walked forward. Her body was starting to gradually calm down as she saw him less and less as a threat, he was so still and despite being so dangerous looking he always seemed sad or defeated. Surely someone with these looks wouldn't hurt her.

Lucas wondered what might happen with the war and such as he walked with her, would they be deployed into battle ever he asked himself or would they sit behind the walls until the demon horde actually made it here, these thoughts seemed to consume him as he was right behind her. As they walked through the armory he barely glanced around as he had no need for armor or a sword as he had them both, he would have liked a helmet but there was not a helmet out there that would fit him and there was not an armor maker out there that would come close enough to try. It never really mattered as Lucas didn't need it being so tall but he would have preferred one for safety's sake, now they walked out of the armory and Nicole said that she would fight for his right to have a nice room or at least a room comparable to the others within their division. His ears twitched and he looked at her curiously wondering if this was all a cruel joke being played on him by Nicole, she was the first person outside of his adoptive father to have treated him like a person rather than a monster and it was finally starting to sink in for Lucas. She didn't seem to harbor the same feelings of those who had tricked him in the past not that he could see at least, this meant she was an extremely good liar or she actually meant the words she was saying to him.

He could not hear an erratic heartbeat from her he could only hear a soothing steady sound as he listened to it, she believed the words she was saying which meant she was telling the truth to him. He blinked once before answering her now "I have no words to express the amount of gratitude I feel for your actions" he said in a gentle though still very deep tone "so I can only say thank you". He was formal as he had been taught to be when thanking someone for anything, he now nodded at her earlier question seeing as he had not given an answer to it. "Yes I know the area inside and outside of the base quite well now Nicole" he said in a calm tone, he had never been one to sit still even when others shunned him he had to do something or he would go crazy from all the energy building up within him. "Why is it you ask? if you do not mind me asking" he said quickly after saying he knew the area, did she plan on giving him an assignment outside of the base he wondered to himself but soon shrugged it away as she would give him the answer soon.
