So, it looks like a lot of people are on board with the idea of literary contests being held periodically on site. That said, we'd like to announce that our first literary contest will be held during the month of August 2011.
We've created a special forum for our contests (both literary and graphics) in general. We currently have one ongoing graphics contest and for the literary one that will start soon, we'll be featuring 2 categories: poetry and short stories. Members may submit one entry for a single category and all submissions are to be PM'd directly to darkangel76. During the final week of the month, the submissions will be anonymously posted and everyone on site will be given that week to read and vote for whichever entry they like best for each category. At the end of that reading/voting week, the top 3 winners for each category will be announced and given a prize.
The prize (for all contests) will include: donning a colorful name, gaining VIP access and having a 'winners' title for a one week time period, along with having their names placed on the Wall of Fame thread in the contests designated forum area. Also, if any members are willing to volunteer their artistic services in making a generic winners badge (perhaps something saying Contest Winner) and/or sigs people could keep permanently (perhaps something indicating the date of submission like Aug 2011 Contest Winner), that would be great. They aren't needed, but they'd be super cool to have.
Since we'd like for our first literary contest to take place in August, please take a peek at the threads where everyone can post their ideas on various prompts, themes and inspirations for either poetry or short stories. Remember, posting ideas does NOT mean you have to submit an entry for the contest. Just like you don't have to have submitted to vote. Ideas and voting are open to all regardless. And please feel free to submit more than one idea. We'll keep a running tally on them and use them when we host future contests on site.
