The Land of Lost Souls
Walter Smith came west after the civil war to make a fresh start out of life. He settled in California finding a nice spot of land about 300 acres in size near the horseshoe lake. After staking his calm Walter began building his home and barns where he planned on raising cattle & horses but Walter wasn't the only person to come west after the war.

Others came west, some were good people who would work hard to build new lives just like Walter, but others were only looking for what they could take from those who were powerless to stop them. One man like that who came west was Victor Crenshaw, he along with his brothers John & James arrived in California early in the year 1880. The Crenshaw's came from a very rich family back east but that wasn't good enough for a man like Victor, he wanted to build an empire of his own. They ended up in the small town called Lane's Crossing where Victor decided then and there too take over everything he could.

Victor quickly bought up everything that he could in the small town and what he couldn't buy John who by now was known as Black Jack & Jimmy would force the people to give up. The law couldn't stop this because Victor had already bought the Town Marshall making sure that what ever his brothers did they wouldn't get in trouble for it. Soon Victor had so much power that he changed the name of the town to Victorville.

Most everyone had given into Victor giving him what ever he wanted even if they had to leave their homes and start fresh somewhere else. The only hold out was Walter Smith who owned the 300 acres just south of town. It was the best land in the county with beautiful green grass a large clear lake that was perfect and shaped like a horseshoe which gave the lake it's name. Victor had bought everything north of town where he placed his own ranch, he also bought the best land to the west all he needed was Walter's land, but Walter refused to sell the land at ant price. To make sure that Victor wouldn't get his filthy hands on his land Walter made out a will naming Katie his niece as the owner if he should die. Walter never had any children of his own and loved his niece dearly, she was an only child and he would spoil her every chance he had.

In 1882 Walter was found dead in the woods near the horseshoe lake, his body was taken to town. The Town Marshall said that it was an unfortunate hunting accident but his body looked more like it had been beaten before he was shot. People in town believed that it was Jack & Jimmy's handy work to get what Victor wanted but they didn't know that Walter's niece Katie was now the owner of the land. She & her husband Martin arrived in town that same year living in the house that her uncle built. For the next few months Victor tried to buy the land from Katie who refused to sell just like Walter did. No matter how much Victor offered Katie always said no which angered Victor greatly. It was now the spring of 1883 and Jack & Jimmy were on their way to the ranch where Katie & Martin living to force her to give up the land.

It had been the best, and the hardest, six months of Katie’s life. So much had changed in the last year. Her father had died shortly before she had gotten married at the age of 25. Then her Uncle...her father’s brother... had passed a few months after that and before she could introduce him to Martin. Her father’s death had effectively left her independently wealthy, which made her incredibly fortunate, but her Uncle’s death had quite literally changed her life. Instead of living a quiet life of relative comfort in Boston, she had moved West, following the steps that Walter had taken more than 15 years before. Her father had given her a proper education – and not just the kind of education that came out of books. She had not had maids and governesses to look after her. She had not been spoilt as a child. And whilst nothing in a Boston upbringing could really have prepared her for the work she found herself doing at the Horseshoe Ranch, she had a sense of adventure, and was at least mentally prepared, recognizing that the decision that she and Martin had made might have been simple, but the consequences were not.

Katie was 5’7, blue eyes and had chestnut brown shoulder length hair that was almost always tied back. She was curvaceous but nicely proportioned; physically strong for a woman and certainly not someone who got sick often. One cold a year was about as bad as it got.

There was much to learn about dealing with land and cattle and horses through a western summer... and more again to get them through a winter. There was much to learn about life out west in general. Fortunately she could ride and she could cook... but that was about it. And the small town of Victorville was certainly not Boston. It was quite literally a one-man town... one man of whom everyone – including the Sheriff – seemed scared. She did not exclude herself from that either. She and Martin had met him a few times and he made her decidedly uncomfortable – although she tried desperately hard not to let him see that. His brothers made her feel even worse; they looked at her lasciviously and she could feel them almost undressing her in their minds. But again, hell would freeze over before she would willingly let them see his discomfort. She was not going to let them intimidate her. Martin stood by her... stood as her protector where he could... but it was her land and he respected her enough to let her make the decision. And once made, he supported her absolutely. After early meetings with Victor and his brothers, Katie had had one of the ranch hands teach her – and Martin – how to use a shot gun and a hand gun. Martin had gotten used to wearing the hand-gun now in the same way that he was used to wearing pants or a shirt. That was what the West demanded... and this part of the West seemed to demand it more than most. Of course, Katie didn’t wear a holster, but when she went out, there was always a rifle in the saddle holster and a hand gun in one of the saddle bags.

On this particular Sunday, Katie and Martin had returned from Church in the buggy and had set themselves down to a home cooked Sunday dinner. Sitting out on the porch, enjoying now the late afternoon sunshine, Katie was reading a book whilst Martin dozed gently.

No matter how much any man....or woman trained with a gun.....they were no match for Black Jack Crenshaw. He was a stone cold killer who enjoyed making people suffer & beg before he sent them too their deaths. Jack & Jimmy weren't alone as they traveled to the Horseshoe Ranch....two other men who worked for Victor as ranch hands joined them.....but they were really hired guns....picked by Jack himself....their names were Lopez & Berk.

These two men were quietly slipping up from behind the ranch house as Jack & Jimmy rode in from the front. They stopped their horses just a few feet from the front porch of the house where Katie & Martin were sitting. Jack & Jimmy both dismounted from their horses then tied them to the rail near the steps. [b" Beautiful afternoon.....isn't it. "][/b] Jack said with a sly smile on his face....he placed one foot on the first step then leaned forward. " Katie......Martin. " Jack added as he tipped his hat slightly....Jimmy stepped up behind Jack then moved over slightly to his right where he could clearly see Martin.

As the horses approached Katie put her book to one side and stood up slowly.as she recognised the riders she felt her stomach tighten a little as the usual touch of fear ran through her. She stiffened, standing a little straighter, and spoke Martin's name to wake him. By the time the horses had come to a stop, he was standing next to his wife.

Katie folded her arms in front of her as she watched the two men dismount and secure their horses. Psychologically protecting herself, putting a barrier in place. She forced a smile onto her mouth as they approached, but it was not a smile which reached her eyes. And she made a mental note to make sure that in future she had the shotgun to hand when they were sitting here.

"It erm.." Katie swallowed hard. "It certainly is." she knew that her next line should have been to offer them a cool drink but she just couldn't bring herself to do it whatever the rules of etiquette might dictate. As the two men set themselves side by side on the step, Martin asked them what had brought them out this way.

Jack's continued to smile as Katie spoke.....his eyes stayed on her....undressing Katie slowly until in his dark mind she was naked standing before him....which was how she would end up being before this was all over with. Jimmy looked at Martin as he asked why they had come....hearing Martin speak made Jack look towards him. " Well......we're here to make one last offer for this land. " Jack said as the smile never left his face.....he then looked back at Katie. " Victor's final offer is $ 100,000 dollars....for everything.....you couldn't get a better offer from anyone else. " Jack proudly said as he stood back up....he placed his hand just above his gun which was hanging low on his right hip.

Just then Berk appeared....peeking around the side of the house and Lopez was standing in the doorway. He had quietly slipped into the house through the back door....his gun was already in his hand and pointed at Katie's back. Martin heard the offer then turned his head towards Katie waiting for her answer which he knew would be a flat no.

Katie moved her stance a little, shifting her weight from one foot to another as Jack's gaze remained fixed on her. Her armed tightened around herself a little more. She almost felt relieved when he finally broke the dirty look to address Martin but all too quickly she felt the depth of it again. She watched as Jack straightened himself; there was no doubt that these men were physically strong and they displayed that strength simply through their sheer presence. Combined with the weapons at their sides, they were clearly a potent force, individually and together. But for some reason, that still wasn't enough for Katie to take the easy option.

"Jack... James... Despite how pleasant an afternoon it is, I'm sorry you have had a wasted journey." She forced the smile a little more and shook her head slightly as if to emphasise the point. "I've made it more than clear to both of you...and to Victor...that this property is not for sale. As... Generous as his offer might be, I'm sorry but, the answer is still no." she swallowed hard again. "Now I... I hope you have a pleasant trip back to town."

Jack lowered his head....he let out a long deep sigh as he shook his head. It seemed obvious that he was disappointed by Katie's answer. " You know Katie......I told Victor that you would sell......no matter how much he offered you. " Jack said then he looked over at Jimmy. " Didn't I Jimmy? " Jack asked his brother who nodded his head before speaking. " Yep......you sure did Jack........and you were right.....she didn't go for it. " Jimmy replied to his brothers question.....then Jack looked back at Katie. " You know Katie......I'm glad that you didn't want to sellout......it's gonna make taking this land from you so much more fun. " Jack said in a cold voice as the smile slipped away from his face. Then like a flash of lighting acrossed the night sky Jack had pulled his pistol and was pointing at Katie.

Jimmy too his cue from Jack....he too pulled his pistol pointing it at Martin....then if things weren't bad enough Lopez stepped out from inside the house pressing the barrel of his gun against the back of Katie's neck. Berk jumped over the railing of the porch placing the barrel of his weapon at Martin's skull. Jack laughed out loud as he moved up on too the porch....he moved closer to Katie. " Katie......you're gonna learn a hard lesson today.......on why you shouldn't say no to a Crenshaw. " Jack again laughed out loud and the sicking smile slithered back over his face like a snake.

As the conversation between Jack and Jimmy played out, Katie recognised that this was not god. She saw trouble approaching like a locomotive and yet she didn't move. There was almost certainly nothing she could have done, but she didn't think of anything consciously or otherwise. She was simply transfixed. And then she looked directly at Jack, heard him comment on how much more fun it was going to be and watched his smile disappear. His voice, his expression, his glare made her blood run chilled and despite the warmth of the afternoon sun, she shivered.

The suddenness of his draw made her jump. Martin seemed to get half way through reaching for his own gun when Katie realised out of the corner of her eye that he had frozen. She pulled her gaze quickly from Jack to Jimmy and realised why.

But then Jack moved and pulled her attention back. Instinctively Katie stepped back a little and squealed as much in surprise as anything else when she felt the cold steel at her neck. She half turned to look at the man behind her before refocusing on the man in front. Her heart rate had suddenly jumped through the roof and she could hear the blood pounding in her head. The sound of Jack's boots and spurs as he stepped up, stepped closer, echoed across the porch. He was close enough to her thatvshe could smell the stale cigars and whiskey. As he spoke, she forced herself to keep eye contact with him. She was not going to back down...she couldn't show him how scared she was. She clenched her jaw tight, swallowed hard and lifted her chin as a sign of defiance and immediately felt the gun at her neck press a little deeper. He was stood only inches in front of her, towering above her, forcing her to look up at him. The sheer physical presence of both men were enough to actually darken her view on the porch.

She was fighting to find her voice when she heard Martin.
"You leave her alone, Crenshaw. You touch her and I'll...." he was cut short by a firm punch to his kidneys and an instruction to keep his mouth shut from Berk. All the time jack kept his gaze on Katie and the sickening smile didn't budge.

When Jack was back into a corner....he was as dangerous and as deadly as a rattlesnake. The only time when Jack was more dangerous & deadly was when Jack was in charge of a situation.....just like he was now. Jack & the others chuckled at how stupid Martin was being....trying to protect his wife when she wasn't the one who needed protecting. In fact Jack had everything planned out.....he had ever angle covered. Jack raised the barrel of his pistol too Katie's lips...he let the cold steel brush over her soft lips.....lightly caressing the fullness with his gun. " You're a damn fine woman.....Katie......we're gonna find out how willing you are to save your husband. " Jack's voice seemed to grow colder as he spoke.....then a crazy look came over his eyes. " Berk......Jimmy........take Martin over by the oak tree......tie him up.......the shows gonna start soon. " Berk & Jimmy followed Jack's orders quickly dragging Martin off the porch then over to the tree then tying him tightly.

Jack kept his cold evil eyes fixed on Katie while Martin was taken care of.....he never once moved or looked away. " Berk.......Jimmy......the first time Katie doesn't do what she told too........you hurt Martin......and I mean hurt him baddddddd. " Jack's voice dragged out the last letter in bad giving his voice a deep rough sound in order to make his point clear to Katie.....play right and Martin stays healthy.....do something stupid and Martin pays with blood & pain. Lopez stayed behind Katie keeping his gun right against the back of her neck......she couldn't see.....but his grin was ear to ear.

Katie broke her gaze with Jack and started to move towards Martin as he began to crumple from the punch, but the gun in Jack's hand immediately in front of her and the one pushing into her neck brought her up very short very quickly.

"MARTIN! Mart... it's ok... just..." She snapped her head back to look straight at Jack, eyes blazing with anger. If looks could actually kill, Jack Crenshaw would be stretched out on his back across the porch steps. But looks couldn't kill... guns and bullets could. And before Katie had the chance to say anything, she was aware of Jack slowly raising his gun. Her gaze shifted a little so as to follow the rise of the barrell. As he brought it towards her, she regained the stiffness in her stance that had been present before the assault on Martin. Her mouth open as if to say something closed slowly, clenched, and once again her chin lifted in defiance. She looked back up to the man in front of her, anger, hatred, and contempt all flowing freely. She could only hope that the fear she felt in her belly was not equally on display.

As he brought the tip of the barrell to her mouth, drew it around her lips, she stiffened even more. But the fear of him pulling the trigger at that point was not what was at the forefront of her mind. Killing her would not get Victor Crenshaw the land he so desperately wanted. He needed her to sell... to sign over the deed, otherwise Martin's family would inherit. No, she wasn't scared that Jack was about to kill her and his chilling statement about finding out what she was prepared to do confirmed that in crystal clarity.

As he barked the instructions to her brother and Berk... a man Katie had seen with Victor but had never heard speak before, he eyes again flashed across to Martin as they pulled him up and began to lead him down the steps and away and then back to Jack. She snapped her head to the side, pulling her mouth away from the tip of the gun, although almost immediately she felt the muzzle of the gun behind her remake the contact with the back of her neck, pressing in a little harder this time perhaps. But she didn't care. Whoever the man behind her was, he wasn't going to shoot any more than Jack was... and he certainly wouldn't shoot without being told to by his boss.

"You son of a bitch... don't you dare lay a finger..." Her breathing was short, shallow, hitching a little. For the first time and despite the sunshine, she felt cold to the bone, the short-sleeved button-fronted white blouse and simple straight dark blue skirt giving her no warmth. But without really consciously thinking about it, she took a step... half a step... to try and move her way around the obstacle immediately in her path.

Berk & Jimmy began working Martin over....roughing him up so that Katie understood that they meant business. His clothes were ripped from the upper part of his body exposing his bare chest then Jimmy pulled out the knife that he carried on his hip. Jimmy had one of those gun belts where the pistol was on one side while a knife was carried on the other and Jimmy knew how to use that knife. Jack reached out grabbing Katie with his free hand then yanked her from the porch down too the ground just in front of the steps. " Time for the lesson to begin Katie. " Jack said as he turned keeping his gun aimed at her....he then reached into the pocket of his shirt which was covered by a black leather vest. He pulled out a paper then tossed it down in front of Katie....this paper said that Katie agreed to give her land to Victor...all she needed too do was sign it. " Victor wants this land.....we're taking it one way or another....if you're smart and if you wish to keep your husband alive.....you'll sign it. " As Jack spoke with the same cold...uncaring tone to his voice Lopez stepped down onto the steps standing next too Jack....his gun was also aimed at her.

Jimmy was waiting with his knife in hand.....he doubted that Katie would give in. This would mean that he could torture Martin....making him scream out in pain until Katie gave in.......he watched & waited for Jack's orders. Martin was on his knees in front of the large tree.....his arms were stretched out behind him wrapped around the tree tied tightly with ropes which stretched from wrist to wrist. This was already painful.....but Martin was slipping in & out of consciousness from the working over Jimmy & Berk had given to him.

Katie squealed as she was suddenly hauled down the steps. She tried to keep her focus on what was happening feet away at the base of the oak tree.

"Don't hurt him... let him go... you twisted bast...." She snapped her gaze back to Jack. Breathing hard. "This has nothing to do with him. Let him go. NOW!" She watched as the paper was tossed down in front of her, watched as the man who had until that point been behind her and invisible stepped into view standing to the side, and just behind Jack. "A contract signed under duress is not a valid contract. And if you had any intelligence as you claim, you'd know that. If I sign that..." she lifted her head nodding in the general direction of the paper. "... I can get it struck out within a couple of days." She felt she was being pulled into two different directions. Her heart told her to just sign it. She and Martin had money. They could hand over the ranch and go back to Boston and never really have to think about this place and the Crenshaws ever again. But Walter had died preventing his land falling into the hands of Victor and his brothers. And if she gave in, she would be betraying him, betraying the trust he had placed in her. She was also a firm believer, perhaps niavely so, in justice, in doing the right thing, in the idea that good defeated bad and ALWAYS won out in the end. She couldn't sign. She just couldn't. She looked painfully across at Martin, saw Jimmy grinning, waiting to pounce.

She look back at Jack and Lopez. And she shook her head slowly, a single tear sliding down her cheek

Jimmy's eyes slowly opened wider as he watched Katie shake her head. This meant that he was right....it seemed that he bet Jack that Katie wouldn't give in and Jimmy won. Jack looked down on Katie.....normally he would just kill someone who spoke to him the way she did....but he had orders from Victor...Katie wasn't too be killed. Jack let out a low growl then he looked up at Jimmy who was smiling back at him. Jimmy saw Jack nodded his head then Jimmy went too work on Martin. The first cut was acrossed Martin's left cheek.....the knife cut a wound open which dripped blood down his face.

Martin groaned out in pain.....but he didn't scream in pain the way they wanted....but that would change and Jimmy would see too that. Jimmy then made a deep cut acrossed Martin's chest....the blood began seeping from the fresh wound slowly running down his chest. " I think Katie would like a present......why don't you give her one! " Jack yelled out then Jimmy cut off Martin's left ear which did make him scream out in great pain. Jack & the others laughed as Jimmy threw Martin's ear at Katie....it hit her then dropped down on the ground. The nerves were still active and the ear was moving slightly while on the ground. " Katie.....if you had the intelligence that you claim......you would sign the papers......and as for you striking it down......we are the power in this state.....no one dares to move against us! " Jack growled out at Katie....but what he said was true....not even the governor would dare to stop them....he was to afraid of Victor's power.

Katie stared, wide eyed, open-mouthed; watched as Martin groaned agains the first cut, then groaned a little louder at the cut across his chest.

"STOP IT... LEAVE HIM BE YOU SICK...SADISTIC..." She stepped forward, trying to push her way between Jack and Lopez to get to Martin. Lopez merely pushed her back, laughing. Jack didn't even need to touch her and with the twisted grin playing around his mouth he called out to Jimmy. Katie screamed at the suggestion, tears streaming down her face now, and as the ear landed on the ground she tried again to push her way through the virtual wall in front of her. This time she thought she was through; there was no push, but then she was pitching forward having tripped on something. She landed heavily on her hands and knees, crying, screaming, begging for them to stop, calling out to Martin. She was aware of their laughing, aware of Martin's screams, screams that she knew were going to haunt her soul until she died and then above it all she heard Jack's commanding, controlling voice. She didn't know whether he was bending over her or merely talking louder.
But when he had done, she let her head drop forward, her body hitching as she wept, knowing that she couldnt let them kill Martin, hoping that Walter's spirit would understand, would forgive her.

"STOP.... PLEEEASE.... I'll sign it....just stop.... don't kill him." She heard Martin shouting at her in the middle of his own pain not to do it but she couldnt look at him. She knew though that she could not stand up to this. These were not ordrinary bad men. They were something truly evil and she did couldn't fight this.

Once Katie gave in Jack looked over at Jimmy. " That's enough Jimmy! " Jack said as he held up his hand which made Jimmy stop.....but Jimmy wasn't happy that Katie broke so soon after he just started having fun. Jack reached down picking up the paper then dropped it down in front of Katie along with a pen so she could sign her name. Once Katie signed the paper the first part would be over.....Victor would have what he wanted....but there was still a little matter of what Jack wanted and Jack wanted Katie.

Martin knew that Katie had only broke to save his life.....he felt terrible that he couldn't protect her enough. Martin looked up at Jack....then his eyes shifted from him to the others. One by one Martin looked at each man....he knew that one day these men would get what they deserved....one day justice would come from them. " One day.......you'll all pay from what you've done......you'll all pay for your crimes against us and those who you've already hurt......one day an avenging angel will come and strike you down! " Martin hissed out in anger as Jack looked over at him and laughed at his brave....bold words. " Sign it Katie! " Jack ordered as he looked back down at her. Katie didn't know it yet....but her nightmare had just begun....and it was going to get much worse before it got better.

Katie inhaled deeply, sniffed and tried to recompose herself. When she heard Martin talking... threatening.... she knew he wasn't broken. She looked up slowly; he looked awful, the side of his head and his chest covered in blood. Then she became aware of the paper and the pen being dropped onto the ground next to her right hand. She stared at it for a moment. Slowly she sat back on her heels and drew her hands across her face, wiping away the tears. Jack stood perhaps only a few inches to her right hand side. Out of her peripheral vision she could see his legs, black dusty boots, black pants. She couldn't bring herself to look up at him at the moment.

She reached out and picked up the paper and the pen. She lifted her head and looked across at Martin, their eyes meeting. They would start again somewhere; somewhere a long way from here. Maybe back to Boston; maybe not. But they would start again, together. Katie jumped a little as Jack shouted at her to sign it, but again she didn't look up at him. She held the paper on her knee and brough to nib of the pen to the page, hesitated for a long moment, silently whispering an apology to Walter's ghost, and then she signed her cursive flowing signature. When she was done, she tossed the pen and the piece of paper back onto the floor; an act of pentulence she knew.

"Now untie my husband, you sick son of a bitch. You've gotten what you wanted... so untie him." Still she didn't lift her gaze; focusing instead on Martin as he sagged a little against the base of the tree.

Jack watched as Katie signed the paper then after she tossed it aside....Jack reached down picking it up. He read the over paper seeing her signature then nodded his head. Jack fold the paper as Katie requested that they untie her husband......but that wasn't going to happen. " Martin will be untied after our business is over Katie. " Jack said as he reached down with his hand then gently stroked it over Katie's hair. " You've given Victor what he wanted.......now to complete this deal of saving your husbands life it's time to give me what I want. " Jack's voice still carried the bone chilling cold tone....he had already undressed Katie many times since she came to Victorville....and now he was going to see her naked for real.

Berk & Jimmy stood next too Martin.....they already knew what was going to happen next as did Lopez. Jack had carefully planned this all out the night before.....each man knew what to do when the time came. They all watched Katie.....in their minds she was already undressed....not it was time for her to strip down in front of them.

Katie pulled away sharply from Jack's touch, half falling, half crawling away. She looked up at him wide-eyed, sitting on her rear in the dirt, leaning back on her hands but in no way relaxed. The bottom of the blouse had pulled out from the top of the skirt in a couple of places, and the simple clean dark blue was now covered in dust and bits of straw. She looked over at Martin, saw the two thugs standing, partially obscuring her view of him. She looked back to Jack, saw him grinning, saw Lopez grinning, licking his lips. It was the first time she noticed how dirty looking Lopez was; unshaved, bad teeth appearing yellow and broken in the middle of his sickly leer.

"What the hell do you mean... 'after our business is over'. Its over! I've signed the damn piece of paper..." Her breathing was short and shallow again and she shivered a little. "This was only ever supposed to be about me signing over the property. I don't have anything else... I don't know what you want... just... just let us alone. We'll pack up and be off the property in a couple of days."

Jack couldn't help but laugh at Katie's sharp words....she was a head strong woman and it showed. " Katie.....Katie.....Katie. " Jack said as he began to walk circles around her as she sat on the ground. " As I said.....you gave Victor what he wanted......now it's time for me too get what I want! " Jack snapped at her as he continued moving around like a shark who smells fresh blood....just waiting for his chance to pounce. " Our business will be over and we'll leave after you've willingly given yourself too me.....right here......right now! " Jack hissed out as he leaned over from behind Katie.....from here he could easily see down the front of her dress.

" I'll not hurt Martin anymore.....if you strip and let me fuck you.....right in front of him! " Jack said which brought a look of pure disgust to Martin's face. He knew that the Crenshaw's were as low as people could get....but forcing another man's wife into sex was even lower then he thought they were. " Once I'm done fucking you Katie.....I'll let Martin go free....and you can go back to where you came from. " Jack added as Martin was too stunned to speak.....surely his life wasn't worth Katie giving herself to a man like Jack Crenshaw.

Katie stared at a patch of ground in front of her as Jack paced around her, her body trembling every so often. But as he leaned in from behind her, as she felt his breat on her neck, smelled the stale cigars and whiskey on his breath, as he hissed at what he expected to finish the deal, she moved quickly again to get out of his way. Turning, twisting, scurrying over ground she managed some how to get herself to her feet, turning to face Jack... To face all of them. The house was behind her. Martin was over to her left. Jack almost directly in front of her about 10ft away. Lopez slightly behind him and to her right.

"I will NEVER.. give myself..." she forced the words out almost through gritted teeth. "...WILLINGLY to you, you... You..."

As Jack continued to outline what he expected in return for their freedom and for Martin's life, she backed away, slowly, one step at a time. Her eyes glassed over again but the tears weren't falling right now. She looked over at Martin, then back to Jack shaking her head slowly in disbelief, trying to see a way out of this.

"You can't ask me... You can't tell m to... To do that... You got the property..."

She looked back at Martin, meeting his gaze once again. She saw him shaking his head. Telling her no. And then suddenly, as he saw her backing closer and closer to the house, closer to where he knew there were weapons with which she could defend herself, opening up the distance between herself and Jack, he shouted at her.

"Katie. RUN! Get into the house. RUN KATIE. NOW!!"

When Martin opened his mouth and started yelling Jack aimed his pistol at Martin then fired. The gun cracked like thunder as the bullet sliced through the air until it ripped into Martin's out stretched arm. The bullet hit with such force everyone could heard the bone in his arm break before Martin even cried out. " Make another move towards that house Katie and Martin is a dead men before you can get inside! " Jack shouted out as his gun stayed aimed at Martin....Jack was a great shot and never missed what he aimed at.

Lopez turned pointing his pistol at Katie....then he cracked off a shot which hit near her feet. " The next one goes into your leg Missy.....Jack will get what he wants even if you can't walk. " Lopez snorted out as he was ready to fire again at Katie. " You're a smart woman Katie.....you can end this all in a few minutes.......and it's only sex......it's not like I'm ask for your hand in marriage. " Jack added as he pulled the hammer back on his pistol.....then he cracked odd another shot which hit Martin just above his bent right knee. Martin again cried out in pain....each shot was causing more damage to his body and now he had two broken bones. Doctors at this point in time couldn't save human limbs once the bone had been shattered by a bullet. They would often cut off the limbs to save the body....this was done many times during the American Civil War since infection would set in quickly and take the life of the person injured.

Katie screamed! The first shot into Martin's arm was enough to make her stop. As the second shot bounced out of the dirt a few inches away from her foot, she jumped, but she was no longer moving backwards. She held her hands up at about shoulder height and slightly to the side of her.

"Enough already. STOP. Im not going anywhere... ohhh GOD.... just stop please. Don't hurt him anymore." Once again a single tear made its way down her cheek.

She stared at Jack... looked over at Martin who was crumpled against the tree. His body was broken and the pain had him practically unconscious; his head, chest, arm, and leg were a mess and the amount of blood he would now be losing meant that regardless of whether his arm and leg could be saved, he needed some kind of medical attention quickly. She stared back at Jack, eyes firing daggers again, but perhaps for the first time, she knew that Jack would see the look of defeat there. At least last time she had been on her hands and knees, head down. Now... it was obviously visible. She clenched her jaw... closed her eyes and nodded slowly, briefly.

Jack looked at Katie when she cried out enough.....but he didn't lower his pistol from where it pointed at Martin. " Berk.....Jimmy......keep Martin covered.....if she does something stupid kill him. " Jack barked out his orders too Berk & Jimmy who were both ready to kill Martin in case Katie had any thoughts of being brave. " Come too me Katie.......strip down in front of me then drop to your hands & knees and offer yourself too me! " Jack's commands were sharp and he expected Katie to do as she was told with out any hesitation from her.

" Lopez......if she tries anything.....goes for my gun....or bites me.....shoot....kill us both if you have too.....but make sure she dies painfully! " Lopez nodded at Jack's next ordered......he smiled knowing the pain he could cause Katie long before she would die. " All you gotta do is play nice Katie.......give me your pussy.....and I'll let Martin go......he'll be released from the tree and he'll have no more pain. " Jack said as he waited for Katie to do as she was told.....but time was running out and Jack wasn't a patent man.

Katie looked over at Martin one more time. His eyes were barely open but she was sure there was enough left in him for him to know what she was doing. She wondered whether he would ever forgive her. She swallowed hard and turned her attention back to Jack. Slowly she began to walk towards him. She walked until she was stood perhaps three feet in front of him. She swallowed hard, clenched her jaw and lifted her chin. At the same time, she slowly brought her hands up to the buttons on the front of her blouse. Her fingers fumbled over the first and she felt her cheeks flush red with embarrassment. She watched as Jack's gaze dropped a little, following her fingers and she could feel the other three glaring at her. She kept looking at Jack. Feeling a wave of nausea run through her at the thought of what she was doing, of what she was about to let this man do to her.

As she reached the bottom edge of the blouse, she pulled out those parts of it that were not still tucked into the top of her skirt. She took a breath, closing her eyes momentarily and then she opened the blouse, lifted it off her shoulders and shrugged the blouse down her arms, letting it fall to the ground behind her. She saw Jack's eyes focus of the top of her breasts which were now visible above her camisole.

Next she reached behind her, undid the buttons at the back of her skirt, pulled it open and let that also drop down to the ground. She stepped out of it, bring her a little closer to Jack. Next she placed her hands at the bottom lace edge of the camisole and lifted it over her head dropping it behind her. Her breast were now almost completely exposed, supported only by the half cups of the corset which was held in place by a series of hooks and eyes down the front. She chewed nervously on her lower lip as another tear slid down her cheek. For a moment she froze, knowing that she was down to the last two pieces of clothing; the removal of the bloomers and the corset would leave her naked - stripped just as Jack had instructed. Her hand slowly moved up to the front of the corset and one-by-one, she popped each of the hooks. As the corset fell away, she heard Lopez exhale and whistle softly, heard Jimmy and Berk mutter something. She felt her nipples respond immediately to the afternoon breeze, but there really was nowhere to hide. Finally she reached her hands down and undid the ribbon fastening at the top of the bloomers and let them drop.

And there she was. Her milk white skin on full display literally from top to toe. Slowly she moved down onto her knees, closing her eyes, clenching her jaw... and then down onto all fours - exactly as Jack had instructed.

Jack & the others watched as Katie slowly removed her clothes. She never planned it this way.....but with her doing it so slowly it added some seduction almost like a strip tease. Once she was naked standing in front of Jack they marveled at how prefect her body truly was. They all had pictured Katie naked in their minds many times since she came to Victorville.....but no picture could match the true beauty of Katie stripped naked. Jack had an evil grin on his face as he watched Katie kneel before him......he was in command around here and she knew it.

Katie had dropped down to her knees....then onto her hands just as Jack had ordered....but she forgot one important detail.....Katie didn't offer herself to Jack. " Katie? " Jack said as he knelt down behind her to get a better view of her pussy. " You didn't offer yourself too me.......I want hear you beg for it.........I want too hear you beg for me to fuck you......beg for it Katie or Martin will get hurt again. " Jack's voice had a wicked sicking tone as he spoke....it was clear that he had no soul.....no man could so cruel....but Jack was.
