Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. Thud. Crash. Shout. Slam.
This was the third night that her parents were fighting. She couldn't wait to graduate. She couldn't wait to get out and leave. Her parents had broken up three times since she had entered high school. They were so wrapped up in themselves that it was like she no longer existed. Alexia hated her parents. They were both selfish. They cheated. They lied. They were made for each other. Her bedroom was suddenly illuminated by head lights as the engine of her fathers truck roared to life. He sped off to whatever mistress he currently had in the moment, leaving her mother once again to her booze.
Despite the dysfunction in her family, Alexia was one of the most popular girls in school. Alexia was considered very attractive. She was a petite red head with stunning green eyes. Her bust size was large enough to keep all the boys interest, but that wasn't all. She was smart, nice, funny and stylish. She never let the negativity in her home life ruin what she had going on outside. Even though there were plenty of people who heard about her parents and their problems, they were all impressed with the way she handled it. The respected her for it.
No matter how many people liked her and wanted to be her friend, she always knew where her loyalty was. It was with her best friend, who she had know since eighth grade. They had always been together since before she got popular. She even refused to have a steady boyfriend because they would always interfere with her friendship. As long as she remained single, she would too. She wasn't as popular, but that was okay.
She reached for her cellphone and dialed her BFFs number. She wanted to sleep over. She couldn't stand another night of this.
