Lightning flashed brightly in the night sky and thunder roared briefly afterwards. It was a terrible storm with a downpour of rain that had already flooded the lower-lying areas; it came down so hard it was hard to see a house clearly across a street. It was storms like this that scared Corissa the most.
Yes, it was sad that she was sixteen and still scared of storms, but she couldn't help it; she just got scared so easily. Since it was so late at night she was curled up under her blanket in a baggy white shirt that hid her large B-size breasts from view and she also had on some white pajama shorts that had blue polka dots on them. Her wide light blue eyes peeked out from where she was hiding beneath the blankets and she dove down again as another boom of thunder hit her eardrums.
She grumbled something incoherent under her breath and laid there, trying to think of something to do. She used to just go to her mother when she got scared like this, but since her parents were still on vacation for their anniversary she was left alone with just her brother in the house. Her brother....Oh gosh, she could surely fantasize about him. Sure, he was a little older than her, and she knew it was wrong to think of her brother that way, but she couldn't help it; she just found him so attractive.
An idea suddenly came to Corissa's mind and she couldn't help but to smile to herself. She sat up in the bed and brushed aside some of her straight black hair that had fallen in front of her face; since it only went a few inches below her shoulders it would constantly get in her face and annoy her. She had managed to get to her feet when thunder boomed again and she jumped, nearly considering just crawling back in bed and forgetting about it. She told herself she had to be brave and finally walked out into the dark hallway that was only lit now and then by the occasional flash of lightning.
She managed to make her way down the hall without bumping into anything or tripping over herself, a common habit she tended to have. Her bare feet made no sound as she walked as quietly as she could, and if she even did make noise it was sure to be hidden by the rain and thunder. It only took her less than half of a minute to get to the next door down the hall and she knocked loudly on it; it was the door into her brother’s room.
