"I should send you back to Sholto's pit for retraining," Rory snarled, the crumpling sound of paper mixing with his words. "How in the hells did this...third cousin twice removed even get my address?" He was still baffled by the event. When Rory had gotten the post that morning, the last thing he had expected amongst his bills and Seelie Court invites was a letter from some guy Rory had met years and years ago. Granted, it had been an interesting meeting, but when Rory had said goodbye to--he looked at the rumpled letter again--Asher, he hadn't thought of the boy since.
"Surely you won't deny him?" Kobe sat across from Rory at their cafe table, his blue eyes twinkling behind his blond fringe. The wolf was too cheeky by half and Rory had half a mind to tie Kobe up in the backyard from now on. Some body guard. Who'd ever heard of one not guarding his master's body? "I mean, he's already coming, after all," the werewolf added, his stupid, twinkling smile growing wider.
"Damn you," Rory snapped, brushing long, auburn curls out of his face. "If I ever find out you had a direct hand in this..." He trailed off, letting the unsaid threat hang in the air. Of course, Rory knew Kobe had something to do with the letter and this Asher person. He couldn't prove it though and what what he couldn't prove he couldn't punish.
Further crushing the letter into his hand before ripping it into tiny, bite sized pieces, Rory dropped them into the coffee cup sitting before Kobe. "Go away," he growled, his mood still hanging about him in a dark cloud. "Go amuse yourself for a few hours while I meet with my dear cousin."
"But milord I--"
"No," Rory cut across Kobe with a wave of his hand. "You helped with this somehow and you'll face the consequences, even if it means leaving my side for a few hours. Go to the club for a few hours and amuse yourself with whatever whore you find. Tell Maddox it's on me tonight." Rory made a shooing motion towards his guard along with a meaningful look. Knowing when Kobe was beaten, he rose and bowed slightly.
"Call me if you need me," Kobe murmured softly before taking up his paper filled coffee cup and throwing it away as he headed out the door. Rory watched the large male's exit and huffed in irritation, wiggling further down into the soft chair he was in. The fae sipped his coffee, scanning the room for Asher and wondering if he could chase the guy off somehow. He was slightly disappointed with himself for not dressing like he did at the club. Rory was, for him, dress down in a pair of tight leather pants and an open backed corset top. He knew he should have gone with the frilly lace blouse when he'd left the house. Dammit!
And so, Rory stewed at his table, sipping his coffee slowly and waiting for Asher to appear.
