The sun beat down from the sky, its wicked blades of heat slicing across Cody’s skin, causing him to grimace. “Damn, Sam, it’s hot as blazes out here. Did we have to play ball today of all days?” His words were addressed to his best friend, Samuel Davis aka Sam, but they were only meant half-heartedly. The two men had hung out together since grade school, pretty much becoming inseparable over the years, and shooting hoops was something they enjoyed doing daily, rain or shine. It was brutal that day though, the heat almost unbearable, and both men had stripped their shirts as they played, letting the sweat slide down their skin to drip onto the ground. Sam laughed at his friend’s words as he drove past him, putting the ball in the basket with a nifty little move. “Oh, quit complaining, you cry baby” he said as he slapped his friend on the back. “Suck it up and keep on losing. I like it when that happens.”
Cody laughed, the sound hearty and loud, and immediately grabbed the ball and buried a three pointer. “Keep talking trash, bud, and we’ll see who loses this game.” The words were a challenge and the two men played for the next hour, their bodies pounding the court, skin getting sunburned with every minute, but neither cared. When it was finally over, won on another three pointer by Cody, they gratefully piled into Sam’s air conditioned car and headed home. Leaning his head back against the headrest, Cody slid his hand through his short dark brown hair and sighed. “Damn, man, that was a good game. I’m going to grab a shower at your house when we get there.” Sam nodded and wound his way through the streets, finally pulling into their driveway. “Ok, head on in. Since I’m all sweaty already, I’m going to do some quick yard work.”
Car doors opened and slammed and the young man pushed his way through the front door, thinking only about the cool spray of the shower. He was oblivious to the fact that he was still shirtless, sweat glistening on his chest, but he remembered it when he saw her, causing him to stop where he stood. She was Sam’s sister but every time he saw her, he found it hard to remember that. Molly was…well, Molly was Molly…all sensual beauty, grace and innocence and whenever he saw her, he couldn’t help wondering what it would feel like to be buried inside her. But then he remembered she was Sam’s sister and he pushed those thoughts aside. Raising his hand, he waved to her. “Hi Molly!” he said before he continued on his way.
