The hallway was a buzz, kids talking back and forth saying there good byes.. Empty lockers slamming close for the last time this school year.
"Hay! Hay Ashley wait up!" As Ashley turned around she saw her friend Becky Sue running after her. "Hay, my mom said I could sleep over this weekend." Becky said out of breath as she caught up with her friend. "Did you hear about that party that Jenny is having? What do you say we crash it?" Becky giggled.
.
"Naa I have to baby sit my little sister or did you forget?" Ashley said. "And besides I don't feel like going to another one of Jenny's parties"
"Why not? She always has lots of boys at her parties."
"Yeah I know, and that's exactly why I don't want to go. I always feel like a damn wall flower. While all the guys are talking and mingling with all the other girls they treat me like I have the plague or something."
Becky frowned, "Guys are stupid. I don't understand them your gorgeous. I don't understand why no one every asks you out."
Shrugging, " I don't care." Ashley said, trying to sound indifferent.
"My brother says that his friends don't ask you out cause there all afraid of you."
"hahaha, Yeah right... like I'm going to bite them."
"Don't laugh. He says they all think your to pretty. And that you would never go out with one of them. And if you did you would brake there hearts." Becky said, as they walked from the school.
"Yeah right! What ever you say." Ashley scoffed.
"Hay wait! I got an idea." Becky said all excited. "I'll met you at your house in an hour." And took off in the direction of her house, leaving Ashley to look after her friend and wonder what she was up to.
An hour later Ashley was up in her room when Becky walked through her door grinning from ear to ear holding a piece of paper in her hand.
"I have the answer to all your problems." Becky said waving the paper back and forth.
"Problems? What problem? I wasn't aware I had a problem." Ashley said.
"Your problem with guys silly.. You want a date don't you?"
"What? A date? What makes you think I want a date?"
"Of course you do.. have you ever even been on a date?"
"Well.. yeah of course I have... Doesn't my cousin count?" Ashley laughed. "Ok, so whats this great idea you have?"
"A personal ad on the internet ." Becky told her.
"Are you crazy ? Only losers take out an ad on the internet." Ashley said.
"No they don't.. come on sit down," Becky patted the seat next to her by the computer. "What do you have to lose? Here, I"ve even wrote an ad up for you."
Reluctantly Ashley sat down and took the paper with the ad written out from her friend. "Ohh I don't know Becky. Look you made a mistake. You wrote that I was 18."
"So, your looking for collage guys right? Well do you think any collage guys would go out with a 16 year old high school student?"
"Well I don't like the idea of lying about my age."
"Look it's only for the ad.. and look if you met someone you really like you can always tell them it was a misprint. Come on give it a try. It'll be fun"
"Oh My god ! Becky! look at this.. you said i was a collage student home for the summer!"
"Yeah.. So?.. You are a student.. and you are out for the summer."
"Yeah a high school student!" Reluctantly Ashley took the ad from her friend.
After about 10 minutes , with some added nudging by Becky, Ashley had retyped the ad on one of the local dating sites and added a recent picture and hit send.
"Ok now what do we do?" Ashley asked.
"We sit back and wait" Becky said.
That was on Wednesday night.. By Friday Ashley had pretty much forgotten about the ad she had placed just two days before. Forgotten until Becky showed up ready to spend the night.
