starting the rp -------------------------------------------------

Takeru groaned as he slowly opened his eyes, feeling the sun beating down on his face. As he blocked the bright light with his hand he winced and sputtered as he felt sand going into his mouth. He groaned as he looked around and noticed that he was on a beach, his clothes soaked and sticky with sand and a bit of seaweed. He slowly sat up, but then clutched his head in pain, finding a large bump and possibly a bruise underneath his hair. He looked around, not having a clue how he ended up here. When he began trying to think his head began hurting, only finding his name and his age while trying to remember anything. He slowly started to get up, shaking and brushing off a lot of the sand and stuff, though was a bit unstable at first, falling back onto his butt back on the sand with a grunt as he looked around. He then carefully stood up and gave a shout. "HELLO? IS ANYBODY AROUND HERE?"

Rayne had been relaxing in the shallows for some time. The storm last night had been a bad one. Most of her pod had taken shelter in the deep but on the way down she had spotted a ship being thrown about at the surface. it was bad. The storm ravaged the ship and ripped it to shreds. Everyone knew to never go near the surface, but she couldn't stay away, she just had to make sure that the survivors were okay. She only found one. She carried the young man to the closest piece of land she knew of, a small uninhabited island. It took a lot of energy, but finally she had managed to drag his limp body up onto the sand. He seemed unhurt except for a few minor cuts so she scooted back into the water to wait for him to wake, then she would know that he was safe.

She had just been bathing in the sun, where the water met the sand, when she heard a new voice. She sat up and peered over the rock that was concealing her from the view of the human. Her finned ears perked up when she saw him on his feet and moving around. She put her arms up on the rock as she pulled herself to a seated position in the surf, her tail still out of view. "You're awake!" She smiled, her voice naturally melodic and flowing. "I was hoping you'd be okay.

Takeru jumped when he heard a voice coming from behind him. He turned around and saw a girl leaning on a rock. He couldn't see her lower half but the thing that drew his attention immediately were her large fin like ears, as well as her melodious voice. He blinked and shook his head a bit, groaning as the large bump on his head throbbed a bit. "Who.....what are you?" he said, still looking at the fins where her ears were. "What happened? how did I end up here?" He said, moving over towards the strange girl. When he moved over he was able to see over the rock, blinking at the large blue tail he saw attached to the girl instead of a pair of legs.

Rayne skipped over his first mumbled question focusing on the latter as he drew near. Her face flushed some when he stared, but she tried to not let it bother her too much. "Y-your boat... There was a storm last night and your boat was destroyed. I..." She chewed on her lip nervously as she averted her eyes. "You were the only one I found alive. So i brought you here." She finally admitted as she returned her gaze back to his.

"H-how are you feeling?" She asked as she shifted into a more comfortable seated position.

Takeru blinked as he was told how he ended up on the island. "i was...on a boat? The only survivor?" he looked at the girl, realizing she was a mermaid, a creature of legend and fantasy. "feeling?" he grunted and clutched his head. "aside from the serious wang to the head I apparently took physically I'm fine. But I Can't remember anything aside from my name." he said as he somewhat knelt a bit, adjusting so he could look at the mermaid's eyes a bit easier, still keeping a few feet distance from the creature girl. "thanks for saving me. My name is takeu."

She frowned a bit, chewing on her soft lower lip as she listened to him. "Not remembering isn't good..." She mumbled as her fingers gently began to toy with a lock of her bright blue hair."I... I could always go get you something for the pain if you'd like." She suggested. But hearing his name she smiled. "Takeu... I like that." She grinned as his name flowed of her tongue a few more times. "My name is Rayne." Her head tilted curiously to the side. "Perhaps you should sit down until your head feels better"

He blinked and noticed her twirling her azure blue hair in her fingers, smiling slightly. When she repeated his name a few times just to say it he gave a chuckle. "Rayne. A beautiful name." he smiled and looked at her. "if you could get me something for the pain that would be wonderful." he smiled and watched her fin ears slowly move like a flap motion. When she mentioned he should sit for a bit he nodded slightly and sat down, pretty much now realizing her breasts were exposed except for a light covering of what looked like scales. As he noticed a blush began forming on his cheeks.

Rayne's cheeks flushed some as he said her name, she liked the way he said it. When he asked for the pain killer she nodded. "Of course..." She was about to leave as he sat down, but caught his stare at her chests. It made the redness on her cheeks intensify, but she said nothing. It was common for her particular race to not wear chest coverings because of the scales, but no one eyes stared at her chest before. "I'll be right back." She said before sliding into the surf and disappearing in the the water.

The mermaid swam around for a few minutes before finding what she was looking for. A particular kind of seaweed was known for its minor aspirin like effects. She plucked a few pieces before swimming back to the surface. Takeu was still sitting on the sand as she swam up. Using one hand she helped pull herself up on beach to a seat beside him. "It doesn't taste great, but if you chew on it for a little bit it should work." She smiled at him and handed him the plant as she pushed her wet bangs aside on her forehead.

He blushed a bit more as she swam away, blushing again as he watched her swim up and pull herself onto the beach a bit, the water from her hair running down her chest. He took the seaweed and smiled. "thanks." he said as he took a bite of the plant, nearly gagging in disgust as he chewed it. "ugh, you weren't kidding when you said it didn't taste good." he groaned as he chewed, but noticed the pain in his head slowly being numbed. After he felt it was numbed a good amount he spit out the clump of chewed seaweed into the water, noticing a few small fish nibbling at it under the surface of the water. "ugh, apparently they like it and don't mind it was in my mouth a second ago." he chuckled softly. "so Rayne, how long was I out cold for? Probably not too long since my clothes were still soaked as I woke up." as he mentioned his soaked clothes he gave a sneeze.

"Yeah sorry, they taste awful." She grimaced slightly as she watched him chew. But then she giggled as he spit it out and talked about the fish. The sound was light and bubbly. "Those little guys will eat anything." She swished her tail fin a bit and scattered the little pests. She smiled at him and the pondered his question a moment. Looking up at the sun she wrinkled her nose a bit. "It was only a few hours. It's almost lunch time now."

When he sneezed she jumped slightly, caught off guard by the sound. She looked at him and frowned. Humans didn't like being so wet. "Maybe you should make one of those...." Her tail swished back and fourth as she thought and tried to figure out the word. "those.... bright hot things... it should warm you up right? dry out your clothes." She suggested, she didn't want him getting sick, she wouldn't be able to care for him properly, him being on land and all.

He sniffles and shivered a bit. When she laughed he smiled softly. A beautiful sound that any man would love to hear. When she started saying something about a bright hot thing he was confused for a bit, then realized what she meant. "oh a fire. Yeah I probably should make one." he stood up carefully and went to find some wood. "I'll be back in a bit." he said to her. A few minutes later he came back carrying an armful of dead wood. "this should do:" he arranged the wood a small distance from the tide and frowned for a second before looking around. He noticed two rocks and smiled, grabbing them. He put a small piece of animal fur he had found stuck to a bush in a small crevice in the wood and cracked the rocks together, making a few sparks which caught the fur. After a few minutes of blowing softly on the ember and fur he managed to get a decent fire going. He then set up two sticks with a third like a makeshift laundry line. He was about to take off his shirt and jacket when he remembered rayne was right next to him a few feet away, causing him to blush a bit.

Rayne nodded and simply sat there, her tail swishing about in the shallows as he went to gather wood for a fire. While he was gone, she twirled her hair around her fingers, creating a few ringlets hanging down around her face and neck. She gave him as smile as he came back, but then watched him curiously as he played with the wood and started the fire.

He set up his clothes line, and Rayne just watched, staring for a moment until she caught the redness on his face. It caused her own face to flush so she turned her head away and stared back out at the water. "Sorry." She said softly, her hands fidgeting in her lap. Her tail twitched some as she nervously waited. Takeu was nice, maybe he'd be her friend, because the longer she stayed there, the further away her pod got. If she stayed there too long, she'd never find them again. Not that she was ever too close with them, her parents were dead and she was odd by Merfolk standards so she didn't really have friends. But she couldn't very well leave Takeu here alone. He didn't know anything, and he was all alone. Maybe they could be alone together?

Takeru smiled slightly as he kept his underwear on while drying his clothes off by the fire. After a few minutes his clothes were warm and dry, so he managed to slip his boxers off and dry them while he wore his shorts, then when those were done he slipped them back on under his shorts then moved back over to Rayne. "so what made you save me Rayne? I mean, I'm glad you picked me to save, but why choose me?" he looked at her. "Why not someone else from the ship?" He looked at her as he asked, trying to keep his eyes looking at hers rather than her exposed chest. "also, are you the only mermaid around here? or do you have a family out further in the water?"

Rayne kept her eyes off of him while he stripped and dried his clothing. She looked down and played with the fine webbing between her fingers and the fins that stuck off her arms. Finally though, Takeru was done changing and sat back beside her. Instantly she smiled, but it quickly faded with his question. "Why?" She chewed on her lip a moment. "You were the closest. When bad weather hits, my kind hide along the ocean floor, but i saw your boat so i swam towards the surface instead. You had already sunk so far down below the surface, i reached you first before anyone else." She sighed. "I'm not as strong as the men are so i could only carry you. I brought you here and went back to try and find more survivors, but by the time i went back, i was too late." Her shoulders slumped. The poor girl had nearly exhausted herself looking for the entire crew to just make sure she hadn't missed anyone.

"As far as my family goes, I don't really have one any more. My mother was killed by a shark when i was young and my father was killed in a drag net just last year." Her eyes fell to the sad, trying to hide the sadness. "Normally a few families stick together in a pod, but I never really fit in with them. By now they aren't any where close... If i wanted to i could probably find them before they get too far away, but that would mean leaving you here completely alone. I just can't do that." She admitted, before slowly turning her eyes back up to him. "Do you feel better now that you are all dry?" She asked with a smile, trying to forget about the possibility of not seeing her pod again.

When she said he was the closest he somewhat sighed, a little relieved it had just been chance, but still sad about the other passengers and crew that had lost their lives as well. When she said she searched around a lot for the rest of the people he smiled, at least knowing she tried, though still a bit sad he was the only one saved. "Thanks again for saving me." He smiled a little. When she mentioned her family being killed he had a bit of a sad look. "I'm sorry. I didnt know." he noticed her trying to hide her sadness. Then when she mentioned how her pod was getting farther away he immediately felt guilty, even if she said she didnt fit in. "Yeah, i feel a bit better, but now i feel bad that because of me you are going to be separated from your kind."

"Don't feel bad. There are plenty of others around. Just not my species." She shrugged. "Slightly different looks and customs, but for the most part they are all friendly with my kind. There are very few who wouldn't be at least civil with me." She looked over at him and gave him a small smile. "I'm just sorry that you don't have anyone." Her shoulders sagged and she suddenly felt guilty for not being able to save a friend of his or something.

Even though she said not to he still felt a bit bad about it. "I see, well that makes me feel a little better. If you had ended up the only mermaid for miles because of me i would have felt worse." he said with a slight smile. When she mentioned how they would at least be somewhat kind to her, he smiled. "Well they may be nice to you but who honestly knows what their feelings are towards humans." he said with a slightly nervous chuckle. "Well, for all we know at the moment I may not have had anyone in the first place on that ship. I could have just been traveling alone."

((Sorry!! My comp was in the shop all weekend
so i had no internet access! D: I'll get you a post up tomorrow~ Homework's gotta come first))

"Most of my kind would have let you die." she said flatly. "Humans are the primary cause of death among my kind. First it was lore. Human's wanting our tears, our flesh, but once people stopped believing we existed it became their nets and hooks that killed us. None of it is intentional now, i know that, but most of my kind hold grudges." She looked at him and gave him a small smile. "I believe everyone deserves a chance." Her nose wrinkled some and her tail twitched. Her fin was drying out. Scooting down the sand into the surf some, she rolled over onto her stomach and propped her head up on her elbows as she faced Takeru. "sorry, I'm Drying out." She mumbled softly as she surf splashed up around her.

"And you seem very nice, as sad as it is, i can't see you having been alone." She admitted with a sigh.

He shivered a bit, thanking whoever was up there that it had been rayne that was there to save him. When she said she was drying out he chuckled and moved down to the water, splashing some of it on her. This did somewhat allow a look at her soft slender backside, which, while not as arousing as her front, was still a beautiful looking view nonetheless.

Rayne smiled, but her face flushed somewhat as he scooted to her side, helping the surf to splash water up onto her. "Thanks." She gave him a small smile as she pushed hair away from her face. Her scales shimmered in the sunlight, the light tinting blue as it reflected off her body. Propping her head up on one of her hands she looked at him. "So, Is there enough stuff for you to have a shelter here tonight? I can try to find you some stuff before dark if you'd like." She offered. Although what she could actually get him she wasn't so sure.

He smiled and nodded as she thanked him. He gave a slight smirk and gave a splash that got her in the face. As she recovered from the surprise attack and he stopped laughing he nodded. "yeah I'll be fine. There were two large trees that grew and fused together, and there's an empty space underneath them. And there were no signs of any animals living there so it should be safe for me to use." he chuckled and launched another splash at her.
