Yumi heaved a quiet sigh, before running a hand through her orange-red bangs. She looked around with her golden eyes before sitting down beneath the tree she had taken shelter on. Her feet were killing her and there was still no sign of her fiance. Maybe he was in that village that loomed in the distance. It would be sunset in a few hours, so she needed to hurry and get there. But before she could, she had to rest her tired feet. She had been walking and running for what seemed like days, with no sign of that wretched man. She couldn't believe he had just left like that. Then again, he had never seemed too keen on the marriage. Though, she was, undoubtedly, madly in love with him. She had really been looking forward to the union. Not to mention, it would make her Lady of their people... and make her father proud. She thought he was overreacting when he said she couldn't come home until she found him, but the fox demoness soon realized that her father was playing no game.
Without a leader, the people would ruin. They needed someone to look up to and for someone to look out for them. To have abandoned his people at their time of need, with his father's death, it was unspeakable. But he had done it, nonetheless. The girl was beyond frustrated. She had been following his scent and it seemed stronger. She rested for about thirty minutes before rising and trudging on to the nearby village. Once she passed through the gates, she received a few stares from the resident humans. She really hoped this wasn't a town where demons weren't welcome. But no one had seemed to really stop her from entering. She frowned lightly, still following his scent. He had to be around here, somewhere!
The female sighed again, brushing some of her bangs from her face as she looked around. Maybe she would get a room at the local inn, clear her head and get some well needed sleep, before going after him again. He couldn't run forever. Despite the fact that he had abandoned her and their people, her love still outshone her frustration with him. She just hoped he would come back willingly so they could get married and rule.
Yumi was a young fox demoness, that came up to a height of five foot three inches. She had just the right curves and long orange-red hair. Her eyes were a keen golden color, her pupils slitted slightly like that of a fox's. She had fox ears and a tail. The bells on her clothing and in her hair jingled softly with each step she took, growing wearier and wearier by the second. Finally, she had to stop and sat down on a bench outside of a tea house and rubbed the back of her neck. This seemed almost hopeless. But it was either find proof of his death, bring him home, or make a new home and forsake her people. But her father and the rest of the clan were counting on her. Sure, another leader could be elected but her father was a stubborn man. He had been good friends with her fiance's father. The scent of food made her mouth water and she looked towards the entrance of the tea house, debating on if she should go in and get some food before finding the inn.
She had traveled such a long way from her homeland. The culture and style of dress were similar to the one back at home, so it wasn't necessary to buy new clothing. Her father had given her a decent amount of money to do her for the trip. Even he hadn't known how long she might be gone for. She just hoped her husband-to-be would be cooperative and not selfish. She sighed, wiggling her toes in her sandals before looking down at the dirt covered ground. She felt so exhausted.
