Karen sighed as she shifted her umbrella slightly above her head, then let out a sneeze. "I hate storms..." The rain had been pouring all day without even a slight break, several roads in town had even flooded. That wasn't the worst part of it all though....the worst part was "YAH!" Karen squeaked as a loud crack of thunder echoed all around them, a flash of lightning illuminating the sky above her. "I hate lightning even more....this stupid storm...." She glanced upward past the tip of her umbrella just long enough to see the clouds above before retreating back under her umbrella. "Those clouds aren't normal...." The girl wiped the raindrops from her glasses and shook her head. "It's like they're swirling around or something....been getting weirder all day...." With a sigh, the girl shook her head and then carried on walking, making her way back home. Why had she even bothered going into her part time job today? They had no customers because of the weather, she should've just stayed snuggled up at home in bed.
Of course Karen had no idea what this storm really was....that it really wasn't natural, no normal storm, and most of all that everything was about to change for her....everything.
The teenager continued walking down the street as she shivered, soaking wet despite her umbrella, before there was another crack of thunder echoing all around her. The lightning this time however didn't flash across the sky, the bolt came straight down, striking the ground in the exact spot Karen was standing. For a moment a scream echoed around the area, before all was silent except for the fall of the rain, nothing remaining in the spot Karen had been standing besides a black mark on the ground.
"Nnn....." Karen groaned slightly as she stirred and began to wake up, shielding her eyes from a bright light. "Am I....dead...? Is this light.....heaven...?" The girl slowly started to open her eyes, blinking slightly as she adjusted to the light. For a few moments, she really did think she was dead. As her view came into focus however, the reality was somewhat different. She slowly sat up to find herself in what looked like an alleyway of some kind, bright sunlight shining overhead. Was it the next day already? "What....what happened...? Did I pass out...?" That didn't make too much sense though....her clothes were still soaking wet, as if she had just been in the rain a few moments ago.
Slowly Karen got to her feet, leaning against the wall as she started to make her way toward the exit of the alley. She could see people walking around in the street ahead, maybe she could get some help. When she emerged from the alleyway however, Karen found herself in something of a state of shock. This place....this wasn't her home. This city....it was huge...towers and skyscrapers glistening in the sky. And the passing cars....they were like nothing Karen had ever seen before, they looked a lot more sophisticated than the cars she had ever seen before.
"Wh-what....? What's....going on...?" Karen glanced around slowly, then gasped as she suddenly felt faint. She stumbled for a moment, attepting to regain her balance, before suddenly starting to stumble, stumbling out into the middle of the crowd of walking people, not even realising she was heading straight into another person.
