Ciar Coventry stood on the deck of her uncle's ship, enjoying the hot sun and the gentle breeze that carried them toward their destination. Within the month, she was supposed to be married, though it was going to be hard without her mother being there. It had always been her mother's dream to see her daughter get married to someone with a title. She sighed as she leaned against the rail, staring at the distant horizon. No, she was going elsewhere, to marry a man that she had never met, willing to take her despite her family's money troubles. She glanced toward the stern of the ship when she saw something out there, but she brushed it off as nothing. It was probably just a bird, nothing important. It wasn't until there was a call from the crow's nest that she realized that it wasn't nothing. Ciar was rushed below deck by several of her uncle's men. She sighed softly and sat on her bed, waiting for something to happen. She worried for her uncle, but there wasn't anything she could do right now.
