The life of a queen was simple in many ways. The majority of her life was spent grooming her to be a proper queen and a good wife. She was taught every bit of manners and etiquette that was befitting of a queen. She could eat the fanciest meal and use every utensil correctly, properly greet all dignitaries, speak politely when necessary, and knew exactly what is expected of the wife and queen. Oh yes she had been raised to be the best queen possible. But...she wished she could've gone to school and lessons with other girls. She could read and write the basics, this was true, but other fields of education were not deemed a requirement for a queen.

Iris had spent her life wanting to do more than just be a future wife and queen. She wanted to learn mythology, to ride a horse instead of a carriage, read novels, even be able to do simple things like sewing! Instead, she was stuck in her lifestyle of basic knowledge and was presented to the prince and future king, Orpheus, at the tender age of 13 years old. Her family was royalty from their ancestors in another kingdom and had great favor from the current King. Their families spent much time together and despite getting along with Orpheus she was not in love with him. But as she was taught, the duty of the wife and queen was to support, honor, and respect her husband and King. Marriage was for power, not love. So she did as she was required and when they were both adults they were promptly married in a rather large and flamboyant public ceremony. It was not something she would've picked. No, she would've liked a private ceremony on a beach with the ocean air blowing around them. Again, she was not given the chance to pick this.

As the years passed their marriage was not really better or worse. It was more of a friendship for Iris, she felt no love or desire for her husband. He desired her physically, oh that much was true. He often took advantage of their marital bed and she returned the affection given with as much enthusiasm as possible. The King never seemed unsatisfied with her body or performance and that was enough for her. She supported her husband in all things, stood by his side faithfully with a smile on her face, and to the Kingdom of Pylos and the world they were a happy couple. In truth neither was unhappy in the relationship but it didn't seem that either of them knew how to improve it. Still she remained a loyal and adoring wife to him.

Every day she went to the temple of the gods to pray for help. Iris knelt at the altar and pleaded with the god Anteros to help her in her marriage. She would beg for the wisdom, for the ability to love her husband and receive love back. Iris wished she desired her husband as a wife should, to crave his touch. She thanked Anteros for the loving friendship she had with Orpheus but...she whispered to him how her heart was breaking. That she needed more than this...she couldn't live her life without geniune love that took your breath away and make your stomach flip. It hurt so much.

Wiping a few fallen tears away, she stood and went to exit the empty temple to her escorted carriage outside. Her long white gown fitted around her top pleasant showing a little cleavage while being appropriate. Her jewelry was all done in gold and jade, her favorite stone. Her long brunette locks were pulled up into complex knots and twists done by her maids, showing the unusually bright green eyes shining beneath. She walked into the warm morning air, the sun shining brightly above, prepared to head back home.

Anteros watched the human named Iris leave the altar of his worship and felt a feeling he wasn't really supposed to feel. Empathy. It wasn't that Gods couldn't understand mortal plights and issues, in fact, they were usually in the center of these issues so often that to be unaware would be dangerous to their very existence, but they weren't supposed to... feel so much for them.

This queen Iris could have been praying to any God, Zeus was a popular one, Poseidon was important to her fishing trade people, but instead she came to him. Not out of selfishness or abandonment of her duties, but in fact out of selflessness, to make her marriage work and feel a love that she couldn't. It made him sad that there was absolutely nothing he could do for her.

Aphrodite, mother, had told him once as a child, "Love can burn and smolder at a whisp of the moment. It could burn out over centuries or heartbeats. It can be killed, and it can be resurrected. But if it is unrequited, there is nothing, no fire, and we are powerless to control that."

Ideally, Anteros was supposed to punish Iris, or maybe at least ask his mother to increase her lust, if not love, for her husband, but every time either of those thoughts came to him, this melancholy cropped up as well. Nothing would make him happier than seeing Eros take charge of the matter in his stead and strike this girl across the head with lust or lack of sense, but this thought also aggravated him and he was usually so ready to delegate his duties to his elder brother. It was conflicting to feel this way. It was... mortal.

With that, Anteros had an idea, and with a flick of his hand, he disappeared, his ephemeral glow diminished, and a man stood outside a stable of horses. The former owner of the horses, a man by the name of Odrin, was suddenly arm in arm with his former co-worker's daughter, off to elope after months of pining for her. His farmland, his stables, his animals, all of it sold for unseemly amounts to this man who stood in a basic peasant's tunic though it seemed to hang off of him in an impossibly attractive way, and though he had been working for "hours" (time after all, is only relative to mortals) he only glistened with a fine sheen of sweat and didn't seem the slightest tired.

Chasing a horse that had escaped his eye barefooted, the now mortal man pulled it's reigns to stop the beast with a loud bellowing neigh, right in the path of a young woman.

Iris had gone home that morning to the usual routine as every other day. She ate her lunch with several other ladies of court and noble women who thought ever so highly of themselves. They believed dining with the queen made them better than anyone else, they were of superior quality since they had the favor of the queen. In truth, Iris allowed her various assistants and maids to handle these kinds of matters. She attended when she was told to and listened to the list of people 'she' invited carefully.

After listening to the relentless and useless banter of the chatty women, she grew annoyed. It wasn't but a few hour laters that she was finally free of their gossiping voices and she felt the need for a break. Iris told her maids that she was going for a walk, alone. It was not protocol for the queen to walk on her own but she used her authority as queen to stop their protest. It wasn't something she often did but she needed the time to think.

As Iris walked along the path leading away from the castle, she pondered what she had done wrong. She had been an obedient and agreeable child to her parents, never misbehaved or did anything half way. She tried her best at everything, prayed to the Gods faithfully. All she wanted was to have a happy marriage and a loving husband who cherished her. While she had a wonderful friend who cared for her...he didn't have passion for her.

Lost in her thoughts, Iris gave a small cry as the snorting stallion was suddenly flying at her without the appearance of stopping. Her arms were held up in defense as the large beast raced her way, fearing she would quickly be stomped beneath it's strong hooves. Suddenly the horse almost slid to a stop before her and she gazed up with a shy of relief. Seeing the man attending the stallion, she gave a small, "Oh." Her eyes gazed up the length of his body naturally as she'd been looking down before. She could see the muscles bunched beneath his slightly dishelved clothing, sweat creating a glimmer over his frame. His long dark locks were blown back from the run and he was breathing hard from the fight with the stallion.

"That's quite a horse you have in your possesion." she stated, trying to ignore the blush in her cheeks from being so scared. "Beautiful creatures, horses..." she cautiously approached the stallion who seemed to have relaxed, realizing the 'game' was over.

Anteros easily wrestled the horse into a peaceful calm, but it was only because of his unearthly status. The truth was, he knew nothing about horses. Though many of his fellow Gods favored a stallion when riding off to battle or duty, Anteros and Eros had been blessed with wings, so they had never seen a reason to learn the subtle equestrian ways. Apollo always showed off his stable of sun-riding mares (or was it steeds?) to everyone whenever he got the chance, and frankly Anteros didn't see the attraction, but he knew enough about Iris to know that she was particularly fond of these creatures.

"Yes, I just recently acquired their stable and, well I guess that they still need help getting used to the change," Anteros said with an impressive laugh before he pressed down on the horse's neck to make it bow it's head to Iris for her to pet. "Come now Kiren, let our country's beautiful queen lavish in your fine mane."

Knowing that Iris was a particularly willful and independent woman, Anteros thought of what Eros would do to make a woman like this "writhe" as mother would say. Though she understood her submission to the land's laws, and obeyed them, there was a part of her that wanted to fight against those laws and do whatever she pleased, and so she could come to appreciate someone of similar spirit. Eros once explained that women liked to see their own virtues reflected in their men, thricely though, so Anteros tried to show his own willful ways.

Before she could place her hand on Kiran's mane herself, Anteros took it upon himself to place his large hand on her back and lightly push her to the horse before placing her hand on it's back. Keeping his contact on her back, Anteros leaned close to her and the horse, smiling widely.

"Kiran is like you my queen, away from her flock, but unafraid and willful," he joked mirthfully.

Iris watched with fastination as the man controlled the once wild looking stallion into a calm state, not longer resisting control. As she gazed into the creatures eyes, she could see she did so because it suited him than desire to obey the man. Animals under tight restraints will rebel and go back to their nature when freed. Just because a once wild animal has been 'tamed' does not mean it doesn't still desire freedom. She smiled at the man, laughing a little at the comment.

"Mmm, yes it seems in the nature of all animals, furred or not, to test the new command or ownership. That much is true." As he asked the stallion to lower its head down for her, she shook her head a moment. "Oh, you don't have to..." but it was done. Her hand raised cautiously to stroke the horse's muzzle and neck, being slow as to not spook the large creature.

The queen did desire to do more in her life and this was one of them. She always thought the castle's horses to be beautiful but it was nothing in comparison to the stallion before her. The ones pulled the carriage and mounted by the men were broken, forced to comply to the point they no longer desired to fight back. No, they didn't have the same wild spirit filling the eyes of this one. She had the breath of a true animal filling her.

Suddenly she felt the hand on her back and she opened her mouth to shout at the man but she was moved closer to the horse and her hand was place upon the stallion's gently swayed back. Her hand stayed still a moment before she carefully stroked down the soft silky coat, slightly damp from the run. Iris could feel the firm muscles beneath Kiran's skin, bunching and contracting as he shifted on his hooves.

Smiling back at the man, turning her head to gaze at him when he spoke. "Is that so? A very spirited animal indeed then to be so bold on his own." Giving a little sigh, she thought about her ambition to ride a horse. It wasn't something a queen would be allowed to do, she is too proper to ride upon a beast like a man. The queen is too delicate and precious to take such risk. Some women rode side saddle on a worn out mare who wouldn't fight, but she didn't want a creature so beaten. She wanted to feel the animal's soul combining with hers as they flew through a field together.

"I feel embarrassed, you obviously know who I am but I am shamed to say I don't even know your name good sir." she said, her voice calm despite her nerves. Iris was alone with a man she did not know, far from anyone who would hear her cries. But somehow she felt no fear or danger from him, she almost felt as if she knew him somehow.

Anteros gazed at Iris's face as she comforted the horse (which was very appreciative of her touch) and noted how beautiful she truly was. Like most royalty, her face was born to be regal and sharp, a face that could launch a thousand etceteras... but there was a softness in her eyes. Most royalty had the sharp look of observation, or context, but her eyes spoke only of warmth... of love... and maybe something else that was outside of Anteros's purview. Melancholy?

Removing his hand from her back with a slow and languid brush down her back and right above her ass, Anteros began to use both hands to push the horse back so it could go back to the stables. To someone who raised and bred horses, they would have said that the way Anteros was pushing the horse was clumsy and erratic, and should have made the horse shake away from his touch in painful protest, but somehow Kiran understood his intent without the proper signals and began a peaceful trot to the stables.

"My queen, how kind of you, but there was no expectation of mine that you would know who I am. I only need know one queen, while you must know thousands of subjects. Perfectly understandable," Anteros said with a calm smile, expertly dodging the question as he had yet to think of a fit name for his mortal form. Before further question could be raised, Anteros gave the horse a subtle nod and it blinked in recognition, neighing in an obviously displeased tone. "My queen, would you kindly hold his head, to calm him, while I take him to the stables? He seems to have grown a liking for you."

Once again acting without her express consent, Anteros grabbed the queen's hand gently but forcefully and pulled her to Kiran's other side and wrapped her hands around his snout in what he figured was a comforting gesture. "There, the wily beast should be quiet now," he said before beginning the walk back.

The hand on her back was slowly removed, slipping down her spine and leaving a small trail of heat behind as it pulled away just above the swell of her bottom. The sensation surprised her, now definitely feeling a heat covering her cheeks. She pretended to not notice as she watched the man gently coax the stallion into the direction of what she assumed was home. Despite his touch being a little...uncontrolled Iris noticed the horse responded well regardless and moved quietly. She took a deep breath and let it out slowly, trying to calm herself. She usually wasn't this...childish around people.

For a moment she watched as they began to leave and felt a bit of sadness as the stallion and strangely attractive man walked away. When he told her that he was flattered that she wished to know his name, she thought it was odd that he didn't give it. Perhaps he was shy as well. The stallion gave a little fuss as he attempted to leave and she was shocked he asked her assist him. "I'm afraid I don't know much about...." she started but again he interupted and she was physically directed again.

"I...I suppose that he does enjoy it..." Iris murmured, her hands and fingers moving in a soothing manner. "Well how far is the stables from here?" she asked, not quite sure that it would be the best idea to follow him home.

Anteros saw the woman's small blush at his touch, and smiled at his successful teasing. Though he could never claim to be the being of desire and lust that his mother was, Anteros knew love and he knew what those who craved it wanted. They wanted to feel wanted, and they wanted to feel gently pushed, without rushing; the key was balance. If you could balance between subtlety and force, make your intentions clear without seeming harmful, then a woman who was desperate for love wouldn't be able to help but cling to you.

Still, one area that Anteros was a bit bare on was actual seduction. He could easily show a woman eager for new experiences exactly what she wanted, but he also knew that humans ritualized certain flirtacious behaviors, and he was less clear on those. After all, he dealt mostly with people who were already in love, even if that love was unspoken. When it came to joining two strangers, even one that Anteros was so well researched in, the initial contact was crucial and... a bit muddled. Eros could make a human act like a lusty wench (his words, not Anteros's) with a few touches, and though Anteros usually found this to be unsettling, he really wished he could utilize such a skill right now.

"It's not far. I had to chase this beast for nearly five minutes though, so at our languid pace, I would say fifteen? You can see the edges of my roof past that hill up west," Anteros explained simply, unable to think of something clever or seductive to titilate Iris, though he didn't realize that chasing a horse that had gone wild for nearly five minutes was not a feat most normal men could accomplish. Along with this, as Anteros reached to wipe his forhead of sweat ("How do you humans stand this heat?" he thought quietly) his large bicep became more exposed from his sleeve, showing off for a moment his impressive Godly physique.

"Ah, well that isn't too bad then." Iris replied, thinking that it was not any less than she normally enjoyed for a stroll. In fact she often took several mile long walks that took her out towards a large clear blue lake. It was one of her favorite spots to go, the serenity of the water was soothing and she often sat to watch the wildlife for hours.

As Iris walked along side the amazing stallion she occassionally moved one slender hand to brush over the horses highly muscled neck. The walk was very quiet for a long moment and it was a slightly uncomfortable silence as if they should be talking. In truth she didn't know what possessed her to walk with this stranger. His manner was a little off, still polite to her but much more bold than any normal citizen would've been. It was obvious that he was not put off by her status and it was oddly catching as she normally wouldn't be so relaxed.

Her bright green eyes glanced over at him from time to time, taking in new features each time. Iris could appreciate the muscular physique, the way his tanned skin moved with them in an effortless manner. The child-like grin when he laughed was infectious for sure. Despite being a married woman, she found herself drawn to him. She was definitely impressed by his ability to chase the beast that long or far.

"You never said your name before..." she said quietly, watching his face to judge his reaction. He was a curious man and sometimes she wanted to learn more about him, spend time with him. He was naturally magnetic.

Silence is life. Silence is death. What was the difference? Well, when Anteros had asked Eros that, he had simply patted him on the head and snickered about how naive he was. Anteros asked his mother what this meant, but she simply smiled as well and placed a kiss on the spot where Eros had patted him. That was the day Anteros had felt particularly miffed at his family and let a man come onto his wife's sister with disastrous consequences (he had pined for her for far too long, Anteros reasoned). Though he couldn't say what the reason for this poetic definition of silence, nor could he find a way to differentiate the two, he recognized that at the moment, he was leaning toward the latter.

Going through his logbook of a memory about Iris didn't help either, as he couldn't find anything "conversational" to bring up. Yes, he knew she was eager to serve her kingdom and even patiently listened through some of the more drab ceremonies and customs for her own sense of loyalty. Yes, he knew that she craved to expand her world and her knowledge for she saw that as the only way to better herself and lived fully in her short mortal time. Yes he knew, though she prayed to find true love with her husband, what she really wanted was wanton passion and poetic grace of love, but these were not things strangers discussed! Anteros was at a loss!

"You never said your name before..." she inquired, Anteros cursing that she was sharper than most, and wishing for the first time that he had thought this little venture out a little more.

"Well, my queen..." Anteros said slowly, keeping a calm body language while his eyes darted around for anything to help him. "...what would you guess my name is? Um, by which I mean, what do you think would be a fitting name?"

It was a desperate gamble, but at the very least it bought him time.

Iris waited for the response wondering why the man was so hesitant to give up his name. It wasn't like she had asked for his life history or the darkest secret of his past. It was simply a name, something to call him. It was bizarre but she waited to see if the second time would be the charm. She was a lot more observant than most, years spent sitting in meetings that she wasn't suppose to participate in. When you are forced to not say a word, you tend to listen better than ever. You noticed the subtle changes in a person's face when they lie or are unhappy and don't wish to say so. Can see the little fidgeting a person does when they're nervous...it's impressive how much you can see when you're not saying a word.

In this she watched as his eyes moved around, the little shift in his step when she asked for his name. It was nerve wracking for her to think he was so afraid to say it. Was he a criminal, a rebel? Why wouldn't he just answer her? At the rebounding question, she thought for a moment before responding.

"Well...Kyros would mean 'like the sun', a warm and bright person. Since you are obviously so fond of these animals, Phillippos means lover of horses or Archippos meaning master of horses. Argos means bright, shining...and swift..." she paused in her list and looked over to him to see what his response would be.

As Iris spoke, Anteros sensed that she was losing some trust in him, and he thought to act quickly to remedy this. Smiling brightly, Anteros gave a great bellowing laugh, as Zeus had once said that humans usually responded well to laughter, no matter the situation. It made them feel more settled to see that someone who they perceived as a possible threat as being pleased, it meant they were less likely to be threatening. Heracles told of using this trick many a time to bed Amazons and escape Hydras, and though Anteros was skeptical at the time, he saw merit in it now. It at least cleared his head.

"What positive names you give me my queen. I am glad that, in such a short amount of time, you have come to have such a high opinion of me," Anteros said with a few more deep chuckles and a sly wink to Iris. "No, the truth is that my parents decided to give me a very simple name, but a name that I wear proudly."

Having decided to try and communicate something to Iris on a divine level, which mortals often responded well to because they always wanted to feel the hand of their Gods acting in their lives, Anteros had finally decided on a name. This name, hopefully wouldn't escape Iris's attentions for her more spiritual understandings and sensibilities.

"My name is Thoth. Why? Because I am so simple, even problems of the greatest caliber wash off of me like harmless oil," Anteros had heard that this name's specific meaning was "bringer of balance" and he knew that that was something Iris was seeking right now in her life, finding the balance between her wants and her duties.

And he would give her that balance. All across his bedspread is necessary (he was willing to make that sacrifice.)

The laughter was infectious and she gave a little chuckle at the appreciative tone in his voice. As she watched him respond to her question, she gave a small nod to his answer. It was a pleasant name indeed a rather simple. As she listened to the reasoning behind it, she laughed.

"Well I hope your parents wouldn't be disappointed to discover your name was used by the Egyptians. Thoth was the name of the god who was the heart and voice of...Ra the sun god, I believe. He was used to communicate the desires of Ra, a lover of the Ibis." She rambled for a moment before stopping and blushing. "But it's a lovely name and I could see why your parents bestowed it to you. A lucky person to have a name to mean such a great things, balance. It is an important thing to have in one's life."

Iris knew that she needed such balance in her life. Her own name meant 'rainbow' but she hardly felt colorful or beautiful at the moment. As for her husband, Orpheus meant darkness or deprived. She didn't know about that, but they were completely opposite.

Anteros was both impressed and a little weary of Iris's explanation of his name and it's meanings. He liked that she had found the value in the name he had carefully picked out and felt proud of himself, and for her to know so much knowledge and list out so proficiently was admirable. On the other hand, Anteros got an annoying and startling realization about Iris; she was just like Athena. He appreciated Athena and was of course impressed as any God of his lower station would be, but cripes could that woman just blather on and on about any subject... (we get it, you are wise and all-knowing.)

This was followed by Anteros making the startling self-realization that he had just compared a mortal to a God. That had never happened before.

"Well, thank you my queen. I will wear it with twice the pride now, now with the commendation of our land's queen," Anteros said with a nod, and continued when he realized a good avenue of conversation; questions. "Tell me queen, what is it that you were doing out here? Such a long walk, and to the middle of nowhere."

Anteros already knew the answer to this question, but it was a start to hopefully many, increasingly deeper questions. If Athena liked to speak of wisdom, Iris would probably want to speak of things she knew, such as herself and her station and... whatever else.

(I'm back now! My laptop is all fixed for now and I'm sooo excited to be back online!)

Iris would never have thought herself to be exceptionally smart, at least in book smarts. It wasn't that she didn't enjoy learning new things but her limited education that impaired her ability. The only reason she knew the details about the Egyptian gods was from a book her husband had purchased. A while back he had decided he wanted to trade with some of the Egyptian across the Mediterranean sea for goods and thought researching their culture would prove beneficial. It had to some degree, but Orpheus never really got into reading more than he had to. Iris had discovered the book and read it over the course of several afternoons. Because she never received a wonderful education, her ability to read was limited and she struggled. Either she had to learn some of the words from context or by looking them up. It was frustrating but she let it go, she was a wife not a scholar.

After a long moment of thinking, she realized how awful she must have sounded all technical and such. But it was apparent he was amused by her knowledge. The question was not something outrageous, many would have asked why she wandered off alone. Shrugging a little, she sighed, "Sometimes I tire of the same thing day in day out. Out in nature things are constantly changing, growing, improving. You can walk the same path a hundred times and find ten new things to look at or amire every time. The same can't always be said about humans or a stone building you've lived in for years." Her voice was almost tired, bored from the thoughts of her life as a queen.

Anteros nodded as he listened to her plight. The information had actually surprised him, which was strange as he had thought that she had already revealed everything when she prayed to him for guidance. Apparently she was dissatisfied with more than just the love-life that she had with her husband, she was dissatisfied with the life of royalty all together. This both intrigued and bored Anteros. It made her problem more complicated, which meant that she was going to take more effort than he realized, but it also put her problems outside his purview of power, in which case he was useless, in which case... he became bored.

Nodding at what she said, Anteros then focused on the horse for a while, or at least pretended to, as he tried to think of what to do next. This game he had started didn't really have any rules, and frankly he did it only because he wanted to resolutely help such a desperate mortal, but he had nothing to give her. If she was even the tiniest bit in love with her husband, even romantically inclined by the smallest bit, then he could help her... but she just wasn't. There was only comfort and some moderate lust.

"Well my queen, I am sad to know that even the most regal, proper, and beautiful of us can still be torn with sadness. If I were your husband, I would devote my every moment to helping you overcome this melancholy, but all I can offer are my horses, and perhaps some wine," Anteros said with a genuine shrug, as he thought of what he could truly offer her, if he wasn't bound to this flesh.

As she alongside him and the horse, she gave a long sigh at his response. While she wondered what it would be like to be anyone else, to be with anyone else...she knew deep inside that it wasn't possible. The horse beside her was beautiful and strong, she knew it would be a lot more difficult ride than she could possibly handle. But perhaps he owned another horse, a calm mare or something, that she could learn to ride on. It would mean a lot to her to learn something...

"Thoth...I have a favor to ask of you. Now, you don't have to agree simply because I am royalty, please don't do that..." she murmured softly, slightly embarassed by asking this. "Would it be possible for you to teach me how to ride one of your fine horses? I'm sure this one is too spirited for me...but one that is calmer, older? I would be ever so grateful if you could allow me the honor?"

Anteros was saddened by the doubt and mire that was overcasting Iris's face, not only as a part of his failed duty to her, but also as someone who had come to listen to her problems for so long. He realized in that moment that he did truly like Iris, and all regal and godly matters aside, the reason he had come to the mortal plane like this was because he wanted to actually see her, look upon her, and help her. His motives were clear to himself now, though his motivations were hinting at something... unforeseen. Her happiness was inextricably tied to his own mood now. His brother would say that this was familiarity, his mother would say it was love. Maybe it was something like... friendship.

Deciding that he needed to act boldly, Anteros smiled a bright and mortal smile of stupidity at Iris, wanting her to think that this was not a calculated move on his part. As much as Eros teased or lectured his brother, he did offer true wisdom at times, and one such piece was that women liked boldness, even sometimes bordering on brashness. If the action wasn't offending or cruel, then to act without thought and only emotion was something every woman wanted. Anteros was about to try this out.

"My queen! How humble of you! And quite silly. A woman of your spirit who wonders without fear, and body built only of royal care, could easily handle a raucous buck like this!" Anteros then let go of the horse's mane and moved behind Iris with almost liquid-like agility and quickness. Gripping her firmly around the waist, he easily lifted her up to the horse's back without hesitation before giving the beast a slap on the rump to go a little faster, though he made sure it would not go into a frenzy of motion.

"Hold tightly to his mane!" Anteros suggested with a laugh as the horse took off.

While Iris was enjoying the company of the male with her, she was not quiet sure where it would go over time. There was an attraction there...something deep inside of her that she was unfamiliar with. It was strange, intense...but subtle at the same time. Now she was confused and unsure of herself. She shouldn't feel this way about another man. It wasn't right for a wife...a queen. But it was there, a tension of some sort.

When he walked around the horse after speaking at first she shyed away from the man. "No no..." she started as he began to grab her and lift her towards the horse's back. When she realized that he wasn't about to stop, she gave a yelp as she landed upon the beast's bare back. She grabbed the horse's mane desperately as the steed began to run with her. The stallion was not unkind to her at least, choosing to run at a speed that she could keep herself upright on his back while she closed her eyes at first. She feared the horse would get her killed but after a moment, she opened her eyes and gave a smile as the air ran through her hair. It was amazing, like flying! She could feel the stallion's smooth muscles beneath the surface moving them forward and she glanced back at Thoth for a moment in glee.

As Iris nervously rode off on the horse with much fear and excitement in her heart, Anteros shot his consciousness into the planes of Mt. Olympus to check if his brother or mother were looking for him, as he had left without much word. Seeing though that they were busy with their own duties, Anteros breathed a sigh of relief and pulled his consciousness back to the mortal plane and looked upon Iris's face that beamed at his with so much joy and wonder. This was the moment he had been looking for; true fulfillment of her wants and prayers. This is why he had made such a bold venture to Earth. He felt good himself, almost as filled with joy that reflected hers.

And he wanted to feel that more.

Rushing up behind her, he calmly willed the animal to stop once it was back to the stable grounds, and the horse did so, prancing lightly now to a stack of hay and nibbling on it. Anteros rushed behind the horse and began leading it to the stables, chastising the beast for feeding on something besides it's prescribed grains before uncouthly pulling Iris off of the horse, once more without asking. With the horse now safely with it's fellow mare, Anteros focused on the queen and gently set her down with the ease of one placing a soft pillow on a bed.

"Here you are my queen. Did your highness enjoy her first of many ventures on such a 'wild beast'?" Anteros gently teased as he purposely held onto Iris's hips.

Iris held on to the mane firmly throughout the short ride, relaxing more as the ride continued and she was able to feel more comfortable on the horse. She felt the horse slow once they reached the stables, chuckling as it headed straight towards a large stack of hay. When Thoth came over to guide the beast towards the stables, she gave him a broad grin full of joy. Her first ride had been amazing and she certainly thought she would have to do it more.

Without warning he reached up to lift her from the horse's back, lowering her gently to the floor and feeling her front brush against his for a moment. She stood still in front of him, her breath still fast from her exciting ride. She smiled at him a bit more shyly now, suddenly aware of his hands still on her hips. "Thank you...it was amazing, it felt like I was flying! Oh, thank you for that."

Focusing his energies, Anteros could feel it now, that faint glimmer that was like a single speck of water on a dusty stone... lust. She was adequately fighting it and felt rightfully guilty, but Iris felt lust at not only Anteros's mortal form and his rough and physical treatment of her, but also a glimmer of more complicated feelings. He had given her something she thought she could never have: a new experience. She was unaware of it, but she was hungry for more. She had tasted something unknown and wonderful and she didn't want to go back... though, she was still strongly fighting any thoughts like these. Just like that, Anteros decided he would try to seduce Iris. Maybe that was his plan in the first place, he couldn't be sure, but now he was steadfast in his goal. There was no love, requited or otherwise in her marriage, so Anteros would break that union and make her succumb to him, and when that happened... he'd figure that part out then.

Moving his left hand up to hold Iris's right, Anteros gently pulled her hand up to his lips for a soft kiss, making sure that his body language was of proper, peasant-to-queen, adoration, but keeping a deep eye-contact that hinted at more.

"Of course, anything for you my queen," he said softly, smiling differently now than he had been before when he tried to be simple and bright, bow he showed her a little more of his... "divine" side that creeped almost beyond mortal comprehension of beauty. "You have so much more strength than you know, I can tell just by looking at your eyes, your hips, your chest... and if you want to continue riding, to learn more, I would be happy to show you."

As she stood in front of the man for a moment, her heart pounding and breath short and fast, she didn't know what she was getting herself into. She had always been a loyal wife to Orpheus and suddenly she was thinking about cheating on him with this stranger she'd known for only a few days. No, not really thinking but it was in the back of her mind and she knew it. The way he looked, smelled, touched her...it all drew her to him and it was more than she'd felt for Orpheus in years. Now she was learning how to ride, something she always wanted to learn but thought she couldn't. It was amazing and exhilarating and she wanted more of it, more of this feeling.

She watched the hand as it took hers and brought it up for a kiss. It was very proper and polite even though there was something in his eyes that was a little more...dark, sensual almost.

"Ah, well thank you for letting me experience this with you. It was wonderful to ride for the first time on something that wasn't a old broken down mare...." she hesitated a moment, slightly distracted by him. She needed to leave...fast... "Thank you for the compliments."

A new agenda geared toward seduction at hand, Anteros was a little more ready and experienced in these matters. He had a clear direction in his mind, and even though he was a God of requited love and comittment, he was still a son of the Goddess of Love and Lust. There was a part of him that wondered if this was the right direction to be headed with Iris, that maybe it could only serve to further her confusion and pain, but... he really wanted her. More than he realized he'd wanted her.

Sensing though that she was becoming slightly fearful, Anteros pulled his hands away from her hips and changed his smile, giving her a genuinely simple one before he started to lead the horse away.

"You are deserving of many compliments my queen. Tomorrow you should come by for a proper lesson, and maybe more," Anteros said misleadingly as he locked the horse away, leaving that statement hanging for a few long seconds before he came out of the stable and continued. "There are also the dogs, my sheep, not to mention the crops and maybe even some poetry that I recently acquired and have been aching to share with a proper audience."

At this point there seemed to be a marked change in the young man as well, perhaps sensing her own feelings of desire. It was a little worrisome to her as she didn't intend to mislead him in any way but she did want to spend time riding and learning other things. The slight innduendo in his words made a small blush cross her cheeks as he pulled away to put the horse up in it's stall.

"It would be nice to not worry someone will think me too delicate to ride or learn. Many think that because I'm not only a woman but the queen that I am unable to do these things. Too 'risky' for someone of my elite status." the last bit was spoken sarcastically, obviously hating the idea of being told she was any of those things. "I would definitely appreciate the lessons."
