Where your nightmare comes to life.
He turned in his bed as the phone rang by his ear. The relentless howling of the ring tone causing him an annoying uncomfortable headache, he grabbed the phone coughing lightly. "H-hello?" His eyes not fully adjusted to the pitch blackness around him. "Hello?" He mused again looking at the only form of light that was on in his room. His black digital clock vibrantly told him it was 4AM, but the bright red numbers were unaware it was too early to wake up."What?!" His mind wide awake now with the realization of what was going on. "You couldn't even fucking call and ask first! Yeah and you wonder why the hell I left in the first place. Fine I'll do it but I want payment! Fifty a week, and not a penny less. No you don't understand you wait until the last fucking second and spring it on me. I didn't have time to fucking plan or even agree to it. I'll watch her, but I want payment and I'll not take anything less then what I say. I'll make sure she knows it!" He pushed the button hanging up his phone. The twenty two year old put the phone back on the base to charge.

That phone call was to tell him that his younger step sister was going to be staying with him while his mom and step dad went on a vacation. His step dad hadn't bothered to even ask. He might as well have just thrown his daughter to him. Jake was mad, yes he liked being around his little sister but her dad just always pissed him off. He had moved out years ago and though there was still a little contact with his mom, anything dealing with his step dad he ignored. God this was going to be hell. Jake had a job, and now he had to watch his younger step sister all because her dad thought she was untrustworthy for her to stay home by herself, and too damn cheap to take her with them. No instead she was pawned off onto him with nobody seeming to care. Right now however he could not afford to worry about it. Not having enough sleep Jake laid his head back onto the pillow before he had to arise for work.

Crystal held the edges of her pillow against her ears, trying desperately to drown out the sounds coming from her parents' bedroom which had been seeping into her room from the air vent. She kept her eyes shut, wanting to go back to sleep, but the bickering of her dad and step-mom made that all but impossible. Flaring out her nostrils, she breathed a heavy sigh of frustration and threw her pillow against the floor as she flung back her bedsheets. "What the fuck could they possibly have to argue about at one in the morning?" She asked herself as she slowly got out of bed.

Her pajama shorts clung to her gradually rounding hips, to which puberty had been so kind, as she sauntered out into the hall. She intended to find out what was causing them to be keeping her up. She eased over to their bedroom door, quietly listening in on the conversation. From what she could gather, they were debating back and forth about her accommodations while they were out of town. Crystal merely shook her head, giving a light scoff under her breath, and went back to her room as she wondered why they waited until the absolute last minute to do anything about it.

Jake got up two hours later, his body needed that additional time to become fully rested. He kicked the covers off his feet and turned to put them on the cold floor. “Today is going to be hell.” He muttered moving his way towards the bathroom so he could shower. Not only did he have to work but from his calculations by the time he was finished with work he would barely have time to deal with the other things he had planned out for himself. He really didn’t need the surprise of an additional task, mainly when it involved driving two hours out of his way.

His body clean he stepped from the steamy washroom before dressing himself in his work attire. How he hated working in the office, but his boss was a nice person even if she could be mean at times. He was her personal assistant during the hours of eight in the morning to four in the afternoon. He placed on his crimson tie after placing his white shirt on. His pants the next thing so it was easier for him to tuck in his shirt. An hour later he was in route to work dealing with the morning commute, the normal fifteen minute drive taking forty-five minutes.
