He walked through the rain towards the train station wearing his hat over his head and his raincoat surrounding his body.

His Detective police badge was hidden deep in his coat pocket and any passer-by would assume he was just another lowlife just trying to get by one day at a time with a poor excuse for an existence and hellhole for a home.

Technically 80% of that was true but he was fed up. He was fed up with the criminals running the town; his bosses in the precinct not turning a blind eye to the crime but actively encouraging it as long as they had their cut.

Noone walked through downtown unless they had a reason. The reporters would never set foot in that area of the city so the public had no idea what was going on behind the scenes, but he'd planned for that all to change.

He'd had her eye on her for months and today he'd finally tailed her towards the train station. He only knew limited information about her, if he started digging around the station it would raise suspicion.

He'd codenamed her "Chromium".

Like any day, it was shitty and boring, and how stereotypical, it was raining. A figure, a rather small and petite one, walked through the murky rain towards the large building which was that of the train station, on her way back to her unassuming, small one bedroom house in the centre of the city. It had been a present from her Uncle, who had been her last remaining relative, after her parents had flown off to a distant country, and that was the last she had seen of them. So she was famililess, and just about friendless due to the nature of her work.

She was a computer coder, but since the Japanese now did all the major company coding, she was reduced to doing some what back street jobs and the like, some not exactly legal, but it got her food on the table and the like. The girl in question was a 18 year old called Katie Kharo, born and raised in this hell hole, wearing a long black rain coat, a pair of dark jeans underneath and a casual t-shirt, her hair was creamy blonde and down behind her ears toward, seeing as the hood on her jacket would have crumpled anything else. Katie stood by the train tracks, hiding under a metal shutter until her transport arrived.

He was a tall man but not inconspicuously tall. He was about ten yards away from her, standing under an umbrella and waiting for the train to turn up. The combination of his hat, upturned coat collar and umbrella made him look rather shady, you could hardly see his face even if you were stood next to him. He pulled a cigarette out of his pocket and lit it with a rather expensive looking silver lighter.

He looked over to the girl for a moment and played out in his head how he was going to pull this off. He'd been waiting for a lucky break and he was hoping today would be the start of the end. He took a few puffs of the cigarette to calm his nerves then held it down by his hip. He looked up at the train timetable. Although the glass screen was smashed you could just about make out the time of the next approaching train - around three minutes time.

[Sorry for short post. In a rush.]

Katie hummed to herself, already knowing this routine off by heart now. She would get in, take her clothes off, pyjamas on, then on the computer and sorting through stuff. Probably make a cup of hot chocolate, then relax through the night, watch a movie and drop off to sleep most likely. That was always the same routine, quite boring. The only thing which kept her entertained was her computer, and she completely loved it. Most of her earnings went to it really, aside from the rent and supplies, obviously.

The train came at the same time as always, and she casually stepped on board, taking her usual seat on the empty train, with only the odd few people using it, like normal really. All in all, her life was rather plain and average, and nothing really interesting happened. Well, not often.

He stepped onto the train and took a seat that was facing the young girl. He studied her and tried to profile her using the skills he'd put into practice for many years as a detective. He'd taken down rapist, murderers, thieves, dealers and thugs; but he'd never tried to take down his own.

But enough was enough. Just looking out the window at the squalid living conditions, the frequent crime and the lack of a police presence; it made him sick. All so some corrupt men and women at the top could live in nice houses and eat and drink at expensive restaurants. The criminals would tell them where a crime was about to go down, the people at the top would ensure no police were around and then get a cut of whatever deal was going down.

He'd built a small team. It wasn't easy. It was dangerous and risky but he was running this all himself. If anything was to go wrong he'd put himself on the line and probably get killed. It was worth it. Especially after *that* day.

He'd recruited a beat copper with the name of 'Jones' who'd been to school with this girl. A computer genius he'd said. She was a pretty young thing and obviously had the brains to match. Probably a loner but through choice; her intelligence would only be matched by a box of electronics and wires. In his younger years he would have jumped at a girl like her - brains and beauty were the biggest turn on but he was an old man now.. well, 37 was old, right?

[Is it all right if she's quite inexperienced about sex, or would you like her not to be, because I can do both? :)]

Katie didn't really pay much attention to the world around her to be fair, of course she kept up to date on the major news and such, but aside from that, like the state of the streets, lack of police and so on, she didn't really care honestly. As long as it didn't involve her directly, she didn't mind. True, it might have been a slightly selfish point of view, but she knew she couldn't do anything about it, so why bother thinking about it?

Through her school life, she had only had a couple of boyfriends, nothing really special, aside from the regular high school type of things, like prom and so on; she wasn't really interested in getting another boyfriend, as it wouldn't do her much good to be honest, and she had no particular cravings, all though she did get them from time to time, like any one really.

Soon enough, the train had come to a stop, and she realized it was her time to get off. Casually, she stood up and walked off the train, not really paying attention to any of the others getting off. Her stop was nothing like the bigger station she had gotten on the train at, this was more like a long stretch of concrete with a small shelter, and various stairs leading off to the streets. It was down the left most stair that Katie went, and then on a two minute walk to her small house, in the centre of the city.

[It's up to you, we'll see where the plot takes us but if he's in his thirties he might be out of touch with the young kids which might be fun if she was to teach him things:p]

He knew she wouldn't even notice.

She looked tired, as if a busy day at work had taken it out of her but still had a glow of beauty. He tried to shake any wandering thoughts he may have about her; this was to be purely business if anything went ahead and there was a goal to reach at the end of it all.

He watched her push her hair back behind her ears as she stood to leave the train and a sudden pain of a flashback ran through his veins. This was not the time. He pushed the memory out of his mind and got up to leave as well. He stepped onto the wet platform out of a door the other side of the carriage to her. He walked towards her and bumped into her, apologising and walking away.

She'd think nothing of it, she was in her own little world and probably wouldn't notice until she got home that a small business card had been slid into her coat pocket. He'd scribbled it down while sitting on the train and made his move.
