The site had been there for ages. It was actually a cave, an impressive opening in the earth, like a dark mouth yawning. Supposedly it had been constructed by some mythical monster, a creature from the dark past that had long since hidden itself away in history. More likely some eager local had carved it out in the hopes of getting some easy cash. That was what most people believed. Or, at least, what most people claimed to believe.

That hadn't stopped the legends from developing. They always did, whenever places like that existed. Tales about children who would be gobbled up by the monster inside. Rumors of teens that had sneaked off to make out in there, only to never come out again. Even whispered confessions about getting too close, or hearing voices calling from the entrance. The town legend had been established, and it wouldn't leave now.

Not that Lucy or her friends cared.

Why should they? That was old stuff, and rather silly too. No, for these girls, the cave was somewhere to escape. They'd all decided to skip school, a dreaded bio test scaring them from that place of learning. Heading to the one place in town where nobody would think to look sounded like the best idea to all of them. Lucy had even been the one to suggest it. Dares had soon followed, with each girl claiming the most bravery. Lucy had ended it though, by stating that she'd go in, by herself, and pick something up to take it back with her.

Which is why the girl was now inside the dark cave. She held her cellphone up, the light function casting a pale glow about everything. You could barely see her in that dim light. The black curls catching the pale white. Dark eyes wide as they tried to take in everything. She'd worn her school's uniform: the standard for Catholic schools. Blue pleaded skirt, loose white blouse, huge shoes and black stockings. Every bit of her screamed innocent girl who was in over her head.

But she kept a confident stride, heading deeper and deeper. She had just gotten deep enough, bending over to pick up a loose stone, when she thought she heard something. Jerking upright, she tilted her light-source, wanting to know what could possibly be there. Probably a bear. Had to be a bear. Or a bum. Or... something...

Balzegul hungered again. Every 7 years his hunger grew. Each time he attempted to break free of his prison. The foul pale skinned bitches had trapped him here over 500 years before. While he waited he plotted. Someday he would discover a way to escape

When his hunger grew Balzegul reached just a little deeper into himself. He drilled his power through the barriers and pulled at nearby souls. In most normal times the barriers would keep people away from his prison. They would just not chose to go in. But when he was hungry enough he could turn that around and pull one in. He'd been exerting himself for days now.

"Hrrm?" he grunted with anticipation.

He'd felt it. A human female had crossed the barrier. He began to stretch and flex his long unused muscles. Being a demon he was much much stronger than even the strongest human, but his muscles still atrophied from disuse. Seven long years of inactivity made his muscles and bones feel old, weak, uncoordinated.

"Ssssssss," he hissed with pleasure as her scent began to permeate the cave.

His nostrils flared. Ribs creaked as he breathed in, drawing in her odors. So close. She was so close. He groaned with discomfort at his own breath since his body was still stretching out. Then he felt the glow of her cell-phone. He turned to see her and grinned at her appearance. She would be perfect. He only needed to get just a little closer to smell if this one was a virgin.

"Huh?" he grunted. Then he stood up but not to his full height. He didn't want to intimidate her or make her run away. Not yet anyway.

"Am I just hearing things?" muttered Lucy. Nothing had immediately shown itself, nothing scary had suddenly appeared. Nothing really happened period. Oh sure, there were the standard cave creatures and things like that. But nothing that was making her run away screaming into the night. Had she just heard the noises?

Curiosity got the better of her. Lucy took a few more steps deeper into the cave. The light from her phone dimmed suddenly. The girl cursed, yanked the device down. Fiddled with a few buttons. Then she raised it once more, the sickly pale light glowing.

"Is anyone here?" she asked. It felt a little stupid, asking a question like that. Especially since she was pretty sure that whatever it was likely had more in common with dumb animals than people. Still, she couldn't help it. A few more steps closer, hand raised high to let the light shine as much as possible.

The small virgin paused. Something was there. Just within range of her light. Something tall, impressive, and shaped... oddly. It made her suddenly swallow, raising her light high, hoping against home to find something normal. A bear... anything but what she feared it was.

"Huh? Oh sorry," Balzegul muttered.

He shambled forward a couple more steps at the same time that the young girl approached him. A slight tapping of his energies drained him even that much closer to extinguishment but it would be enough. The demon clouded her mind, letting her see a harmless bum.

"I was just trying to stay out of the rain," he mumbled again.

He didn't even know if it had been raining outside but it would sound like a reasonable excuse for his presence. Then he stepped one last foot forward and inhaled her scent.

Purity filled his senses. This girl was particularly innocent. Not only a virgin but of good nature. And brave. She might just be the perfect combination of traits that would provide him enough power to escape. Such was her purity that he stood there for a moment longer admiring her potential.

The dirty, filthy creature that stepped forward instantly earned Lucy's pity. Sure, her nose crinkled up in disgust, and she took a step back, but she still couldn't help but feel sorry for the man. Odd that she'd never seen him before; wasn't like their town was all that large. But he was probably a drifter or something; someone who was passing through town and had darted into the only available shelter. That would explain why he was in the 'forbidden cave" at any rate.

"Well, it's not raining now," she said, turning to look outside. "Hasn't been for a while... or... wait, dammit."

While she'd been in the cave, it had started to rain outside. She was fairly certain that her friends had taken off, most likely without telling her they were going. Furious, she stopped toward the entrance, leaning forward just enough to confirm her suspicions. You'd think they could have at least came inside or something like that. Frustrated, the girl stomped back, coming within feet of the bum now.

"Okay, so it's raining now," she said, glancing over at him. "We might as well stay in here for a little while. Just until it lets up or something."

Lucy shifted, rubbing her arms with her hands and looking out the entrance of the cave. Something about the guy made her skin crawl. He hadn't done anything overt though, so it wasn't like she needed to panic or get out of there. Just enough to put her on edge, really, and it wasn't a place she liked being.
