In my AP English class we have to write journals in response to things we've read over the quarter. It's not fun, but it's a grade booster. Anyway, we read Frankenstein by Mary Shelley this quarter and had a seminar, the class just getting in a huge circle and asking questions and commenting on various aspects of the book, about it. Now, during this seminar someone asked:

Can the monster be considered human?

Part of the class answered yes and part no. In my opinion just because he wasn't born that doesn't mean he isn't human. He felt things, he hurt, he cried, he cared, and he might have loved had Dr. Frankenstein not been selfish and killed his partner. Because of these things in my opinion, he is human. Doesn't matter that he was 'created' from the body parts of different men. If that matters then what we believe to be 'humans' aren't human, depending on
