Miranda still couldn't believe just what was happening. Just a few weeks ago she was a regular girl, just a normal, ordinary, plain 15 year old schoolgirl living a normal 15 year old schoolgirl life. And now.....now she was here! Outwardly, this looked just like any other high school really, or at least an all girls school. Corridors, classrooms, a library....but what set this school apart was what they taught here. Rather than learning Mathematics, Geography and the likes, this was a special school that taught magic to its students. Naturally not just anybody could attend, the students had to have a natural gift for magic, but this gift just so happened to run only in women. Throughout all of history, there had never been a man capable of performing even the slightest bit of magic, leading to an all female staff and student body at the academy.
Miranda tried her best not to look uncomfortable as she sat up on the raised platform in the main hall, along with some other new students, whilst the older students were all sitting and watching them as the headmistress gave her usual start of year speech. For Miranda it seemed to go on forever, until finally they were all dismissed, the older students heading for their classrooms.
Most of the new students seemed right at home, having come from families with a background in magic, but Miranda was a first generation mage, the first in her family, at least the first in a long long time, to be capable of magic, leading to a lot of confusion for her. Still, at least she was at the same level as the people who knew what was going on....after all, magic didn't manifest until the age of 15.
The first days lessons were interesting to say the least, with Miranda being introduced to concepts she would never even have dreamed of before, all of it seemingly impossible, until finally the day was over and the first years were escorted to the dorm building. Each of them would be sharing a room with a student in the year above them, someone who would be able to help them get used to the academy and offer support morally and academically. When Miranda's turn came, she was given a key and some directions to her room number, then sent off on her way.
Fortunately the girl had a good sense of direction, allowing her to find her room a little more quickly than most, though she didn't enter right away. For a good few minutes, Miranda simply stared at the door in silence, trying desperately to muster up the courage to open it. Whilst the courage never quite came to her mind, her body eventually reacted by itself, going to open the door and step inside quickly. "U-um.....hello? I'm....Miranda, I'm your new roommate..." The girl spoke before even checking if there was anyone in the room. "I hope I'm not disturbing anyone..."
