Roman, city of name sake and capital of the vast empire. The place they were all taken. Those captured in war or taken as to pay a debt. they were all brought here to be sold. From all walks of life these once freemen, now slaves were shackled and pushed aboard ships and carts, some made to walk in the mud that covered the ground. Made to lie in filth at nights. Prince and Princess, Magi and Priestess, down the hunters and lowly farmers. It mattered not. They all found themselves here, in the great city.
Amoung these slaves was a huntress, Alkmene. She'd found herself bound and taken from her home, why? Not because of what she'd done, but for the actions of another. A debt needed to be paid, and she was of value. A daughter, blessed by the Goddess Artemis standing high upon the stage waiting to be sold to the highest bidder. How angry she'd been when she first learned of her fate. Her own Father... how could he do such a thing to her? Did he not have land to sell? Meat to trade? But no, he'd chosen his own daughter... That night as she slept on the boat between her home and her new life, the Goddess who had blessed her stood before her in all of her glory, and spoke to a bitter woman.
"Alkmene, dry your tears and stand on the strength I gave you." The Goddess sat in front of her, surround by animals and bathed in the light of the full moon.
"Forgive me, my Goddess, but the pain is great. My Mother is 16 years across the river Styx, and my Father has sold his own child to absolve his debt and from what I here, come out with a bit extra for himself." She knelt before Artemis, her head bowed in worship and disspair. Artemis scoffed, her hand moving to stroke the fur of a deer standing beside her.
"And again, I say, stand on the strength I gave you. I am your Mother. When your mother could not concieve, was it not I who gave my blood to you so you would live? And was it not I who opened her womb to concieve and carry you as well? You will put all thoughts of them from your head, because you belong to me."
"Yes my Goddess." Alkmene looked up, her eyes resting on Artemis for the first time.
"Good. I will not forsake you in this time of need. But know this: I will forever leave you if you deny me." She stood, moving to help her off the ground. "Even in Rome, I am a Goddess, though they call me Diana. You must tell them, that you were dedicated to me, and in my name. Do NOT allow them to change your name."
Immediately after the words were spoken, Alkmene awoke from her sleep. By then, they had arrived at port and began the long journey to the city of Rome. It was more than a few days, but during that time she had no more dreams of Artemis, and no more thoughts of the man who'd raised her.
When they did reach the great city, Alkmene could not hold in her awe. She'd never seen a place so large, or with that many people. Everywhere she looked there were soldiers and people, horses and chariots. She could even here the cheers coming from the large Colossius. As the past it, one of there gaurd turned to a few of them men.
"That's where you'll wind up. Food for lions and peoples spirits." He laughed and pushed them on. They stopped outside of the auction house and seperated them, the woman went inside, and the men were chained to a post outside. Inside the woman were stripped of there clothing and bathed, before being put in a simple frocs so as to please the eye of those would bid on them. During this time a few woman screamed, begged even to be released. They were delt with rather quickly. She could still here there screams as they were dragged away by the soldiers for a bit of fun.
Once everything was settled, the women were lead out to a platform, standing in the sun as a crowd gather to place there bids. Alkmene kept her head low, trying not to do anything to make herself stand out. Unfortunatly for her, she was goregous, and even without screaming and pleading, men's eyes were drawn to her. Her face was angelic, with full pouty lips and deep green eyes that held deep mystery. Her hair was long, red locks spilling down her back natural, and her figure? Her breast were large, her waist and hips were narrow, and her legs were long and athletic from years of hunting.
"Noble Romans, I give you treat..." The auctioneer started as she was lead out. She gritted her teeth, listening to him as he gushed about her beauty...
