It was getting dark out and the forest was in a busy state that was rare for the quiet forest. There were the sounds of barking dogs and a soft found of running feet from a small girl who looked young wrapped in a red sateen sheet. She was running as fast as she could from the dogs chancing her but it was not getting her far for her bear feet capt catching on sharp sticks and roots on the forest floor.

Her old master was not going to let her go so easily he would get her back or so he thought. As long as she stayed in his forest his dogs would chance her and bring her home. The bad thing for her master was that the mouse was heading straight for the end of the forest. Soon the young mouse demon ran right into someone else in the forest and it made her fall backwards as she looked up at the figure that seemed to almost be a wall in her way. She noticed he was human and let out a small squeak before running the other way.

As she ran away from the human she halted as she saw the dogs closing in. Nena was stuck between going back to her master and being punished or going to the human with hopes that he would help her. After a second of thought she turned to the human and ran over to him only to hide behind him.

tom was out hunting when he heard the barking and soft footsteps. when he saw nena he almost raised his bow and arrow when he saw how scared she was. he DID however raise it when he saw the hell hounds. "what business do you have chasing this young girl?" even though she was a mouse anthro, he was willing to protect her, as his past was haunted by fear. and his arrows were dipped in holy water by the priest of the church in his town, so they were fatal to the hell hounds
 
One hell hound turned into what kind of resembled a human and growled out "That mouse is to come with us release her to us and you shall live." He said in a low evil voice as the other hell hounds began to surround the mouse and human. Nena held onto the back of Tom's shirt scared her hole body shaking in fear with the hell hounds closing in on them. "Please help" She said softly scared more then anything.
 
tom looked around, there were six of the hell hounds, including the one that transformed. he had one chance. he picked up the mouse girl on his back and jumped into the air. he pointed his bow down with six arrows drawn "holy figure six!" he yelled before letting the arrows fly, they formed a figure six around the two of them and the hell hounds, before lighting up, making the hell hounds disinergrate in the holy area.he then quickly put his bow away, and said "come on, we have to hurry before more come, " he took off his cloak and put it around nena, "this has been dipped in holy water, they cant touch you with this on, plus it will hide your ears and tail while we are in the village" he then picked her up in his arms and jumped among the tree trunks like a monkey, and got her into the village. he said to a passerby who asked who was under the cloak "a friend of mine, shes staying with me for a while." he then hurried her into his house, before placing wooden crosses on all of the entrances. when he was done he said "phew... dont worry, your safe now... "he gently pulled the hood of the cloak off and said "my names tom colbater, im a carpender and a hunter. may i ask for your name?"
 
Nena held on through everything that happened. She closed her eyes tight as the hell hounds were killed then she looked at the robe before looking up at Tom with a smile. Nena held on tight as she was carried to her home and when finally there she looked around her to see what was there. "Im Nena" she said softly then looked at the door. "They will keep coming after me." She said softly not knowing why a human would save her like he did. She did not see what was in it for him and she was always told humans hated mice and would kill her that was why she never ran away before.
 
tom smiled "nena... what a nice name, " when nena said they would keep coming after her he said " well i wont let them take you, they will have to kill me before i let them take you." he then heard her stomach growl and chuckled. "looks like someone hungry! comeon, ill make you some food, how would you like some cheese to snack on before i make dinner?" he asked as he led her to the kitchen.
 
Nena got very little food a day so she was surprised when ehr stomach growled and Tom decided it was time to eat because she was hungry. "I like cheese." She said softly as she fallowed him into the kitchen. She had not had Cheese in years so this was the best day ever for her she was getting dinner and a snack and Tom was being nice to ehr it was something she never got at home.
 
tom smiled and said "well, then i guess this is in order." he got into the fridge and looked around, "i know its in here somewhere" he muttered to himself, "ah here it is!" he said as he pulled out a large cheese wheel of cheddar before handing it to nena, "you can eat it all if you want, i got it from the dairy farmer after saving his cattle from wolves yesterday, and since you like cheese so much, ill make some mac and cheese, basicly pasta mixed with cheese powder, to give it quite a cheesy taste."
 
Nena's eyes light up with happiness when she saw the cheese wheel and she took it happily then started to eat it as she heard what he was making for dinner. "Thank you so much" She said with a huge smile and she moved and hugged him. "Your nothing like Master said humans were like. Thank you." She then moved away to let him cook well she ate the cheese she was given.
 
tom laughed and said "dont mention it nena, i just cant resist helping people, especialy one as cute as you." he blushed after saying that, but then continued to make the mac and cheese, after the pasta was soft enough, he poured in the powdered cheese and began to mix it. and soon enough it was done, he made sure to give nena more than himself, she just looked so thin. "would you like something to drink? i got soda, milk, orange juice, and cranberry juice."
 
Nena watched him as she ate her cheese by the time it was finished she was half way through the cheese wheel. It had been a while since she hate enough to fill her so she was trying to eat as much as she could. She looked at the hot food and then said "Milk please." She liked milk though never got it at her masters place. She was beginning to think this was all a dream everything was just so perfect. She then put her cheese wheel aside and sat nicely at the table.
 
tom replied "milk it is." he poured himself a cup as well, and then balancing the food and drinks, he set them down and said to nena "now eat it slowly, its still a little hot but should cool down quickly. " when the food was cool tom began to eat. he loved mac and cheese as well, in fact it was his favorite dinner.
 
Nena waited like she was told and drank the milk well she waited. She then started to eat slowly so that she did not get sick from eating to fast and she did not want to burn her mouth or anything. When she finally finished the food she took the dishes to the sink and started to clean up.
 
tom chuckled and walked over to nena, he gently wiped her cheek with a napkin and said "you had a piece of mac and cheese there" when the dishes were done he asked nena "nena? would... you like to sleep next to me? theres a guest room if you dont want to." he blushed slightly as he asked this "its just... lonely here since i dont get many visitors, i just take the meat to the butcher and the skins to the leather worker who makes it into... well, leather for clothing and other things, peoplee just think im only into hunting, but really... i want someone to be... never mind.. im sorry i loaded you down with all this." he then silently began to slowly walk to his bedroom.
 
Nena smiled as her cheek was wiped clean then she listened to what Tom was saying only to watch him walk away not knowing what to do. She only new one life and that was being a slave and living in a cage only having human contact when her master wanted sex then she would be thrown back into the cage so hearing what he was saying made her think of herself in a way so she fallowed him to his room and said "Ill sleep with you." She had no problem actually sleeping with someone it would be the first time sleeping on a bed with someone.
