Jake groaned as he woke up in one of the beds in sears. He was an employee and a clerk at the mall's entertainment store, a job he held i ngreat regard and pride. Well... last night was the new year's eve party. YAAAAY 2012!
"Oh man... dude I crashed in Sears again..." Jake groaned sitting up and saw no one else around "Hello? Anyone here?"

He soon made it to the front door which was guarded by a steel pull down gate. Noises could be heard outside.
"Jeez..." Jake groaned and pressed the button to lift the gate... what he saw froze him. Outside were thousands of people... with... rotted skin and open wounds... all snarling and clawing at the glass door.
"Oh... fuck..." Jake stuttered and quickly lowered the gate "Oh fuck... Oh fuck!"
Okay now was the time to freak the fuck out. He quickly ran to a security room and checked the monitors... holy fuck.... the place was full of 'em... thousands of those... things surrounding the mall.
"Oh... shit... please tell me there's someone here..." Jake gasped seriously about to lose himself.
 
Zane woke up yawning and there was something on his face blocking his view, "What the..." he muttered his husky voice even scratchier than usual and he reached up tossing the large blanket off himself and looked around, he was in the 'The Futon Store' and lying on what else but a futon. "Why am I here... Oh right" he said remembering the night before a small chuckle escaping his lips as he stumbled to his feet looking around, "That was one hell of a party, I wonder what happened to that guy I came with..." he said looking into a mirror in the corner. He had messy black hair and sharp blue eyes and his ear was pierced, he looked kind of like a trouble maker but that wasn't who he was and he smiled pushing down the bed head that kept trying to push its way up. He adjusted his white shirt, which always looked good on his tan skin, and reached in the pocket of his jeans seeing the time, "Wow... Kinda late..." he said wondering where everybody was.

At that point he walked out of the store almost banging his head on a sign which was hanging down, he was pretty tall, 6' 4" and sometimes he did that. "Hello?" he yelled out, nobody being in the store was creepy, especially when it was closer to noon than morning, usually it would be flooded by stay at home moms and such dragging along a child or two. He headed towards the door a slight hangover clouding his judgement as he dismissed the sound of groaning and barely noticed what was just behind the steel gate and his eyes popped open as he sobered immediately, "What the fuck!" he yelled jumping back and he shook his head thinking he was delusional but sure enough they were still there and he was freaking out as he backed away slowly looking around, "Anyone there?!" he yelled, there was no way this was happening, no way he was alone in this place.
 
Jake was in the fetal position watching the monitors intently. Surely there was...
"Huh?" Jake asked and saw someone... It's!... Uuuh.... That guy... Zane? Whatever! It was someone!

"I don't know man... I woke up in Sears and noticed no one was here." Jake began and pointed to the food court "SO I went to open the door and... Those fucking things were out there then I high tailed it to the security room."

Okay now Jake remembered this guy... Kind of... he remembered catching Zane looking at him from a distance... in that weird way. Whatever.
"Well... do you know if anyone else is here?"
 
Zane bit his lower lip and looked back at the door wondering what the hell they were going to do and then turned back to Jake at the second question, "Uh... I mean I didn't see or hear anyone, for now it looks like we're the only ones..." she said nervously as he crouched down his hands over his head and he let out a frustrated sigh before rising back up, "Well... What do we do now?" he asked figuring they would have to find a way out but he didn't work at the mall, he had just come with a friend, he was hoping that Jake would know what to do, at least know a little more than he knew.
 
"Well... I checked the security cams..." Jake said thinking for a moment "And all five main entrances are blocked with the gates. Problem is that those fuckers are surrounding the whole mall. Power is still on so we're good there. I guess sit tight and hold on."
Jake then thought of something that might help them... the second floor.
"Also we should probably stick to the second floor... just in case." Jake said walking towards Zane and got his hand ready for a shake "The name's Jake."
 
Zane had calmed down a considerable amount since Jake seemed much more together now as well and when presented with the handshake he happily complied, "Mine is Zane" he said shaking his hand firmly and he took a deep breath thinking about what to do next. Jake had said second flood, "What shops are on the second floor Jake?" he asked curiously, they needed food, water, weapons, and probably a bed or futon which if some of these things weren't available up there they should get now, who knows if those things will break through, if so they would need a fall back area, one shop where they had all the comforts and items they would need to put up a fight, and preferably one with another steel gate.
 
"Well... we have pretty much every thing. A second food court, entertainment shops, clothes shops, the 'secret' shop and a hunting goods place." Jake explained and tried to think "Aha! I got it." Jake pointed at a hardware store "Go grab some tools and stuff from there, we should probably get some materials just incase something happens and we can make a barricade."
 
Zane couldn't help but wonder what the 'secret' shop was but while he was thinking about it his attention was drawn away by an order from Jake and he nodded, "Alright I will get some stuff but where are we going to set up shop, like for the barricade and such, where should I take all this?" he asked as he walked over that way, he wanted to be able to take it somewhere though it would take him some time to round up all the tools and such, maybe he would but them on a cart so he could push it all in one go.
 
"Uuum..." Jake said and grinned seeing one of the wheeled trash carriers, empty of course. He walked over and wheeled towards Zane.
"Here ya go partner." Jake said and pointed towards an escalator "When you got enough stuff just og up that escalator and wait for me by the FYE. I'm gonna go upstaires and get into the security room so we can use it to keep tabs on the zoms outside." Jake ordered giving a thumbs up to Zane before heading up the escalator.
 
Zane smirked and took the trashcan before going to the hardware stores and he started loading up, wood, wire, some nails, nail gun, a few batteries, and a few more essentials, like a few machetes, the only weapon he figured would be easy to use in the store before heading out and up the escalator towards the FYE that Jake had told him to go to. It was funny though, they were in the middle of a zombie outbreak, it was crazy and yet he kept thinking about Jake and a smirk crossed his face, trapped with a hottie, nice...

Zane shook his head, "Nope, let me put these in the FYE and I will come with you" he said and dropped the trashcan full of stuff right inside the door and went back to where Jake is, "Well lead on, I shall follow" Zane said really just wanting to get a good view from behind while he followed, he was still really curious about what the 'secret' store was, maybe it had cool clothes or something, sounded kind of like a goth store, he was a bit clueless.
 
"Well... we used to have a store here for more... adult customers... but states laws came in saying we couldn't have it in the open so we had to hide the store but still keep it running.
