Dylan had always hated the silver spoon that had been stuck in his mouth the day he was born. It had always felt too restraining, like a leash keeping him in line. And as he looked out the dorm window with a perfect view across the recently re-landscaped campus, toward the shiny new observatory with his father's name on it. He realized fully how right he had been all these years.

College had been his attempt to get away. And regardless of his SAT scores and several outstanding essays he'd written in attempt to get into a school anywhere else. He'd been denied at every turn, now however he realized that much more money had been spent than just on a fancy new telescope to keep him home. At least his mother had compromised on him living in the dorms... all the way across town. But it was a start.

Reaching up, Dylan ran a hand through his shoulder length blond curls, letting the late summer wind blow in through the window. Below, he idly watched the other students, many with friends and parents helping to move them in. He'd done it all himself that morning... Well, the unpacking anyhow, it had all been delivered before most of the new students arrived.

At some point this weekend he'd have a new roommate, a prospect he still wasn't sure about, but he was gonna be damned if his mother was going to pull any more strings. Besides, he'd already had opportunity to check up on the guy... Jude Tierney, a Cullinary major from Ireland. At the very least, Dylan figured he'd have a drinking buddy by the end of the weekend.

Flopping down on the couch as he snatched up the remote. The large plasma flat screen on the wall lighting up as he began flipping through channels in boredom, blocking out the busy sounds of the students outside in the hall until he heard the doorknob turn as the door began to open, causing him to look up with a beaming smile as he hid away all that emotional baggage as he'd been raised to do.

Jude Tierney walked through campus with her phone to her ear. She wasn't really paying attention to the busy campus, instead, she was making certain she didn't bump into anyone. From the busy town of Dublin, she wasn't impressed by the big lawn or frantic pace of all of the other students. Their looks of awe at the whole place didn't faze her. She had lived in the most beautiful land in the world. Nothing could make her pause.

"Mim." She said to her favorite aunt. "Didn't I travel over the big pond by meself? Didn't I take care of meself for the better part of five years?" She paused as she waited for a reply. "Alright then, do not worry yerself so much." Her aunt was the woman she had stayed with over the week, had helped her in getting all of her things for school. And she loved the woman. "Tell me ma that I love her when you see her. Have a good time in Dublin." She said as way of goodbye before hanging up.

She had entered her dorm building and was reaching forward to open the door to her dorm. She smiled over at the people gazing at her and gave a quick wave before she reached her hand up to push her pin-straight blonde hair from her shoulder. The hair reached down to her lower back, and swayed slightly with the movements she made. She was sure that if it were shorter it would curl, but, her hair was too heavy to curl.

She opened the door finally and looked in. "Hello." She called as she walked in, having heard the television on. When the girl saw a boy on the couch, she frowned and looked around. "Hi.." She said, wondering where her roommate had gone.

Dylan was stunned by the lovely young woman that opened the door, enough to leave him speechless for a moment as his faded blue eyes took her in. stammering a quick hello as he stood up, dropping the remote on the couch forgotten, hearing that accent in her quick greeting. Smiling a bit sheepishly as he approached, holding out his hand.

"You must be a friend of Jude's, I'm Dylan." Already hoping she wasn't his new roommate's girlfriend. "Does he need a hand bringing his stuff up or anything?" Best friend, sister, anything but girlfriend... His free hand reaching up once more to rake through those boyish curls once more.

It was obvious that he was already settled into the one half of the dorm room, the bed made perfectly with rather expensive looking linens. A high end computer on one of the desks sitting beside a laptop and a top end cell phone blinking silently that there were several missed calls.

Jude found something about this boy all too attractive. And she found herself suddenly wishing that he wasn't the boyfriend of her roommate. She wouldn't mind getting to know this man more.

"Umm.." She took his hand as she looked him over. This was Dylan? She'd had so many friends in Ireland named Dylan, and they were girls. This wasn't what she was expecting. "Hold on. Yer Dylan?" She asked, tilting her head. "No, Jude doesn't need help... That's me. I am Jude." She said, letting her hand fall.

Her aunt was having her stuff shipped, because she wouldn't be able to carry it all alone. Her own stuff would arrive in the next hour or two. But, she could tell that they two of them would be able get along. Expensive stuff she had plenty of. But.. Was she supposed to share a room with a boy?

The television, forgotten in the background played a lovely stream of music, giving that moment the feel of one of those overdone hollywood romance flicks. Dylan was lost in her eyes for that moment, even the crowd of people outside in the hallway had disappeared. Then her hand fell away.

For an Astronomer, he wasn't being very bright at the moment, and her words took that much longer to sink in. "You're Jude? Arent I the lucky one then?" His eyes closed, wincing the moment the words left his lips, cursing his own stupidity.

That smile returned a moment later as he opened his eyes once more, stepping back from the door so she could come in. "Do, you got anything you need help bringing up? I mean... you might as well get settled, it's gonna be days before the administration office can even consider trying to clear this mess up..." If they manage to at all... He though wryly, considering the excessive number of students he'd seen being crammed into some of the dorms.

Jude barely noticed the sound of the music as the air in the room seemed to electrify. Was this really happening? The girl had kept herself away from love for her entire life, and suddenly, it was there. She didn't even know the man.

"No." She told him, shaking her head slowly. "Me Mim... Ah.. Aunt, is sending them here in about an hour. Maybe more." She told him, pushing at her hair nervously. "Alright, I might as well settle in. Who knows if this will ever be fixed?" She flashed him a nervous smile and looked around.

"Cant say I'd mind it one bit..." He grinned suddenly. "I mean you are a lot prettier than most of the roommates I could have ended up with."

Dylan walked over to his closet to pull out the other sheets from his bed. "I wonder how often two people with unisex names accidentally get thrown into situations like this..." He said idly, tossing the linens onto his bed. "I was here early and rearranged to where I felt we both had the most space to ourselves, I figure we can just hang a couple sheets up for privacy and all..."

He motioned around the room as she looked around, and he spoke. Their beds were pressed against opposite walls with a matching pair of desks facing each other against the wall that was mostly a window with an amazing view of the campus and the mountains behind it.

Jude laughed softly. "I'm glad to know I'm better on the eyes than some smelly guy." She joked, looking around the room. "You are definitely better to look at than some girl." She winked at him as she walked further into the room.

She watched him making his bed, and sat herself on her own unmade bed. "Is privacy so much of an issue for me? I don't care if you see me sleeping. I am not terribly modest." She informed him with a laugh. "Or is it you that wants the privacy?" She teased.

As the girl watched him, she laid on her back so that she could look out the window. "Those mountains are beautiful." She said. "It almost makes up for me being away from me green home." She said with a smile.

Dylan sniffed himself, wincing a bit at the smell of his expensive cologne. He winked back at her and grinned. "Better than some smelly guy, or some American bitch... Believe me, I've known a couple girls named Dylan."

He dropped the sheets back on the bed with a bit of a shrug and another grin, this one much bigger. "Well, I was thinking a privacy curtain more for changing... but if you're not terribly modest. The least I can do is accommodate you."

"Wait till you see the sunsets though." He said, turning the small couch a bit as he sat beck down. His gaze drifting between her and the view out the window. Though it stayed mostly on her. 'I really should stop staring before she gets creeped out...' He thought worriedly.

Jude laughed softly. "Just don't bathe in that stuff and we will be golden." She told him, smiling. "And aren't I so glad that you aren't some American bitch? Probably I would end up fighting her from the word 'Go'." She joked.

"I hold no modesty." She told him, playfully winking. "If it is your modesty or virtue that worries you, then please put up the curtain. Wouldn't I hate for you to be uncomfortable." She smiled sweetly at him, though there was a playful twinkle in her eyes.

"Maybe I will stay here until the sunsets." She said. Though she did see him staring, she wasn't bothered by it. She was attractive, and she knew it. Just like she was sure that he knew he was attractive. The girl smiled at him, enjoying that he liked looking at her.

Dylan returned the smile and let the moment slip into one of those rare comfortable silences. On the surface, they both appeared to be enjoying the view. But as moments ticked on into minutes they would both become aware that they were spending more time watching each other from across the room. Several times he would go to say something, pause, and as she turned in anticipation of his question he would flush a bit in embarrassment, bite his lip and look back at the amazing view of the mountains

Of course he knew he was good looking, but to be entirely honest, he'd never had much experience with the fairer sex. Sure there's been a few girls, but any relationships that looked like they might last more than a few months had been squashed by his mother. Her only explanation being that 'Those whores are only after your money!'

Shaking his head with a bit of a chuckle at the thought of the fit his mother would have if she knew his new living arrangements. He turned to speak once more, only to find her watching him this time. "I... uhh...you..." He stammered a bit, swallowing and catching his breath. "You maybe wannna go grab something to eat before the sunset then, after your stuff gets here of course... A buddy of mine's mother owns a little pub in town, and she wont card me."

Jude liked that every so often than man would look at her, or when she looked at him, he would look at her. It was satisfying to know that she wasn't the only one with the feeling of... Something. The girl had enough experience when it came to men to know that she was good looking. She had been able to run free for the most part, and that had given her knowledge that she was able to use to her advantage.

She was looking at him when he shook his head and laugh. She wondered what he was thinking about. She smiled at his stammer, and his nerves. "I'm starving." She said, pushing herself up. Then, she laughed softly. "That's right. You all here in the states have an age limit for drinking." The girl laughed and stood up. "Well, if we are able to drink, lets go. I could do with a pint. Long trip, you know." She told him with a sly smile.
