Howler walked slowly through the forest, his senses stretched out like most of his pack. They felt the intruder as soon as they had came into their territory. Looking around they hunted for the person that was putting the pack in danger. Bigger the others in his pack, Howler’s black fur made him look like a shadow as he moved around the trees. Sniffing the air, he could smell the person, “A girl,” he thought. Howling, he signaled to the others that he was close to the intruder. Moving closer his lean form cast a soft shadow from the setting sun. Moving closer, her sent grew stronger as he tracked her. He knew that the rest of his pack was getting closer.

As the sun set lower in the sky, the forest started to get darker, the last rays of light being blocked by the trees. Moving around a group of trees, he spotted her as he stopped. Watching her he waited for the rest of his pack before getting to close. He would send them around to see if anyone was following her. It wouldn’t have been the first time hunters had used bait to trap and kill some of his pack… But it would be the last.

Looking around as the others came up, he sent them back out with a glance. He had a feeling that this girl was just lost but he had to be sure. If the others found anyone they would signal him. As the sun set and the moon rose in the sky the continued silence from the others told him what he had hoped.

Terra stumbled over a fallen tree, wiping her eyes. She was so hopelessly lost that it was frustating her to the point of tears. they were still looking for her. And she was lost. Some part of her wished she would find of her, part of her just wanted to stay here, alone. She pushed her dark brown hair behind her ear as her blue eyes scanned the area. She saw a squirrel, but that was it. She pulled her jacket around her even tighter. It was getting colder. She figured that now was the best time to sit down. She went back to the fallen tree, sitting down with an exhasperated sigh. She put her head in her hands.

Then she just let out a stressed scream.

Howler titled his head as he watched the girl stumble. He always found it interesting how humans couldn't walk without looking at their feet. Following her he moved closer as her as he heard the howl that told him others were entering the forest. Wondering why she was so far from her own people, he moved closer as she set down on a fallen tree. Moving up in front of her, stopped couple feet from her while her head was in her hands.

Setting down he shook his shoulders as she screamed, he waited to see what she would do when she saw him. He had to admit that he liked it when most humans saw him and got scared. In truth he wouldn't hurt a human unless they tried to hurt his pack.

Terra slowly looked up as saw the wolf. She felt all of the air escape her body. She stared at the wolf as he stood there. He wasn't attacking... Perhaps he was alone, too... Or perhaps he was just waiting for his pack to close in on her. It would have been a lie to say she was not afraid. Of course she was afraid. But she was also... Intrigued. She slowly slid down onto her knees. As she recalled from some discovery channel special on wolves, you had to get down to their level. Possibly even lower. Or else they might consider it a threat. She licked her lips as she tried to make herself look as submissive as possible. This may have seemed ridiculous, but she was doing this to preserve her well being.

She was so happy that her favorite animal was the wolf and she always watched and read things about them. Talk about luck.

Howler tilted his head as he watched the girl slowly get on her knees. Watching her become submissive he, he knew that she wasn't like most of the humans he had seen in the past. Most thought it was best to attack or try to scare his pack off. They quickly learned what kind of mistake that had been. But this girl seemed to know the right thing to do.

Sniffing the air, he could smell her fear and he found it a little exciting. Slowly moving forward he brought his nose close to her face as he took her sent into his memory.

Somewhere in a long forgotten memory, Howler could remember how easy it was for humans to freeze in the forest. Brushing against her as he turned he slowly walked a few paces away before turning to look back at her. Trying to make her understand she should follow him, he moved back to her before walking away again. Once she got the idea he would lead her back to where his pack's den was. There he would make sure she stayed warmed while several of his wolves watched the other intruders.

Terra tilted her head and looked around. She kept her body lowered but stood slightly so she could follow him. He was showing no signs of aggression... And she was curious. She moved in after him, watching the wolf closely. She had never been this close to the creature, and it was almost grand enough to suck the oxygen right out of her system. She could never explain her deep fascination with wolves, and she doubted she ever would. She just somehow felt more amazed by them than any other thing such as a double rainbow, or even a two headed snake. They were just... Beautiful. And if she were going to die, she would rather it be by a wolf then by anything else.

As they walked through thew forest, Howler would look back every once and a while to make sure the girl was still following him. He wasn't sure why she was out in the forest alone much less this time of the day and year. Most humans they spotted came to their territory with groups... But not this one. Walking into a small clearing, Howler looked over as four other wolves came out beside and behind her. Matching Howlers pace, the honor guard made no signs of aggression to the girl. Moving back into the woods, Howler lead the way to a stream where a dozen other wolves relaxed. Pups ran around playing as their mother watched the pack leader and girl walk into their den.

Pups ran up to sniff the newcomer before running to their mothers. Curling up with their dames, the wolves started to show signs of laying down for the evening. Looking back at the girl, Howler turned to move closer to her. Nudging her closer to the other wolves, he continued to push her to the pile of fur.

(Still editing :X)

Terra backed up when he pushed her, moving with him until she saw what he was doing... They were trying to warm her? She was quite baffled by this act. But nonetheless, she did as directed. She st down somewhat near another wolf, looking back at the creature, then back at Howler. She smiled slightly as she looked around at all the wolves... The pups especially. They were beyond any human baby cute. She wrapped her arms around herself absently, rubbing her arms. She had not noticed she was cold til now. She hadn't been thinking about her well being all that much.

She didn't know what to do exactly so she awaited instructions wearily. Keeping her arms locked around herself securely. She was filled with such wonder that she was barely able to really concentrate on human things such as staying warm. She was a human that was being... Somewhat adopted by wolves... For now... She could still upset them at any moment so she remained cautious and guarded. Just in case.

After she moved forward, a couple of the wolves moved, leaving a spot on the ground for Terra. The ground had been warmed by the wolves.

Watching Terra, several of the pups climbed their way from in the middle to crawl over her. Nipping at her playfully they suddenly stopped as Howler shook his body as if drying his fur from a resent swim. The pups settled down as Howler moved closer to the girl. Laying down along side of her, he watch to see if she would lay back. Several of the wolves moved closer to Terra, warming her with their body heat and fur.

(Oh gosh, sorry D: I died for a wee bit, love.)

Terra giggled as the pups nipped playfully at her. She moved to lay back and yawned, exhausted. To exhausted to even care that she was surrounded by wolves that would kill her in her sleep. She turned to look at the leader and smiled. She was glad he found her and has helped her out thus far... She she could not forego the small fear the dwindled inside of her. She curled her body slightly and closed her eyes. Praying for sleep that was not coming very easily. She cracked her eye open again to look at the wolf next to her. She was still making sure he didn't... Try anything. She didn't want to die... She had to check one more time.

(It's ok beautiful. I understand. :) Welcome back to the land of the living ;) )

Watching her smile, Howler started to wonder what it meant until he thought about what he had seen from humans. Having watched them over the years he had seen them do some strange things. It took him a moment to realize that a smile was her way of expressing pleasure. Watching her for several hours he set with his head just a foot from hers. Tilting his head as he watched her eyes open, his jaw dropped in a silly wolf style smile. Scooting closer to her he laid his head on her side as he closed her eyes. His long body stretched out beside of her, his fur warm, as he sighed.

The next morning, the pups were the first to wake. Climbing over the adult wolves, they started licking Terra to wake her.

While the pups worked on waking Terra, Howler Stood up and looked around. Watching some of the others start to pair off he knew that it was getting close to mating. He wondered who would win the place of the alpha female. Looking at the girl he started to wonder if it would be her...

Terra felt the pups upon her and groaned awake. She began to roll over but stopped herself in fear of damaging the pups in any ways. She opened her eyes, squinting them to see the wolf near her and the pups all about her. She smiled and hesitantly touched one on the back. She looked at Howled and smiled. He had helped her and for that she was greatful. And now she was safe for now, from the barks and howls of the bloodhounds and the people searching for her. She cringed at the idea.

She sat up and rubbed her eyes, yawning. She kept her eyes on the wolf ahead of her and then looked around at the others. She noticed the pairing off. She looked back at him.

"You alone, too?" she asked, gently. She looked back down at the ground. She once had this neightbor with this beautiful wolf-dog female who would make adorable puppies with this wolf, now that she thought about it. She kindof wished she had one of those fluffy little wolf-dogs.

As she reached out to touch one of the pups, it jumped ready to play with the newcomer. Brushing against her hand it rolled around wanting more attention until she set up.

Howler watched her set up his ears picking up the sound of the barking hounds and people. Seeing her reaction to the other humans coming closer he wondered if she wanted to be found. And if not why?

When she asked if he was alone too, Howler tilted his head forward a little before looking at some of the other already finding their mates. His own mate had died a year before. She had died while trying to have his pups, his bloodline long ago making it hard for a full wolf to carry his seed. Moving closer to the girl, Howler nudged her, his soft fur brushing her hand. Turning he walked several paces away before turning to make sure she was following him.

Once he was sure she was with him, Howler lead her down the river's edge to a small clearing with several fruit bushes around it. The smell of fresh raspberry and and blackberry filled the air as the sun warmed the grass. Behind them they could still see the others of the pack, but in the small clearing it seemed more private.

Terra tilted her head and pat the wolf pup on the head real fast before getting up. She remained slightly hunched over, looking around as she passed under a tree. She looked at the wolf as she followed him curiously. She sneffed the berries in the air and smiled slightly as she continued on her way.

She looked back to see the pack again, still able to see them so she figured he was not going to take her out of reach them. She looked back at howler, with the originial curiosity planted on her fine features. He seemed to be rather intelligent for a wolf... Well, she wouldn't really ever be too sure because he was the first wolf she personally met. She watched them on tv all of the time and she was sure they were pretty intelligent... She just figured it was different in person. After all, he was not just a dog.

Howler moved over to one of the berry bushes before he turned around and set down. Looking at the girl he wondered how he could explain that the berries were safe for her to eat. looking at the berries he turned back to look at her again before standing up to walk over to the river. Stepping into the river, Howler took several drinks of water before turning to move back to the grass.

The soft sound of growls could be heard drifting from the pack as the mating started. Howler knew that mating would take several days. He wondered how the mating would affect the girl. Looking at her he couldn't help but be affected some by the sound and her.

She figured it out and gingerly reached for the berries, plucking a few casually as she sat down, watching him drink the water. She yawned after her waking up as she continued to watch him. She ate a little, arms wrapping around her knees as she looked at the river. Move beauty in this already flawless area with flawless creatures... She was full of amazement. She was somewhat envious and had that feeling like she had no right being there... Surrounded by all the perfection.

She looked down, savoring the taste of the berries as she shivered slightly. She put her chin on her knees, twisting a blueberry in her slender fingers. She felt calm and happy here... For now, that was. She was still sure that eventually they were going to try and harm her because she would end up doing something provoking. She had a habit of screwing things up badly.

Howler looked back at the girl while he was thinking about the others. Seeing her shiver he stood up and moved closer to her. Setting down next to her, his soft fur brushing her side, he took in her scent as he wondered what to do about her. Sniffing her arm, he examined her scent finding that he enjoyed it. Turning to look her in the eyes, he watched to see how she would react.

Unlike other creatures of the forest, Wolves spoke more with body language then they did with sound. Howler had noticed that she understood somethings. When he had first walked up to her she acted like a lost pup... Showing all the signs of one that would do no harm...

Hearing the sound of barking, Howler turned to look across the river to see a hound and man walking through the trees. "Terra... Terra," a voice drifted across the river. Howler turned to look at her to see how she would react. "If she wanted to be found this would be the time..." he thought.

Terra quietly whimpered as she looked at the wolf. She mouthed the words 'I'm sorry' as if he understood. She stood up and tried to back away as quietly as she could, hiding behind a tree. Her heart was pounding loudly in her ears as she leaned back against the tree. Fear was overtaking her. She closed her eyes. She didn't want to be taken away... She didn't want to go back. She didn't want to leave her wolf friend...

She chewed her lip as she slid down the tree silently, sitting down with her knees pulled up to her chest again. She closed her eyes. Wishing them away as if that was enough... She ran a hand through her hair. So afraid of being found she forgot everything else at that moment.

Howler knew something was wrong. He had never known of a human wanting to hide from others. Moving toward her he stood close by his dark fur blocking the view of her from the other side of the river. Watching as the human walked away, he looked down at Terra. Unless they could hide her scent the hounds would be able to find her...

Carefully he moved his mouth to the edge of her jacket sleeve. Gripping it with his teeth he pulled hoping that she would understand he wanted it off of her. Putting a paw on her leg, he continued to pull on her jacket, working the first sleeve off. Keeping a foot on her so she couldn't get up, he started to work the other sleeve off.

"What... What are you doing?" she whispered, then remmebered her couldn't understand her. She just cooperated to help him take her jacket off. She was unsure why, but she was willing to do it if not just for her own safety. She was not going to cross him. Her eyes were transfixed on the wolf, but she casually glanced around occasionally to ensure that they had not lacated her and were prepared to drag her back.

She was not jacketless and she shivered slightly "fine, you can have my jacket" she mumbled quietly with a sigh. She frowned and watched him still. Curious about what the wolf was doing. She couldn't just rest on the idea of him hating her jacket or whatever. He wasn't some pervert who wanted to see her in the tighter shirt underneath.

Once he had her jacket off, Howler carried it over to the pack. After a quiet exchange with another wolf, he returned to Terra. As he walked up to her the other wolf ran by her the coat dragging the ground. Moving back to Terra, Howler all but crawled into her lap to keep her warm. Looking at her he licked her once before relaxing.

Across the river the sound of men could be heard, "They got the sent," one said as the hound dogs started to bark excitedly. The sound of barking dogs could be heard moving away from Terra and the pack.

Howler turned his head to look in Terra's eyes, his own showing an intelligence that few other wolves would ever have. Staying in her lap, Howler took several deep breaths of her scent. Looking at her, Howler licked her again this time across her neck tasting her skin. "Yes... She will do nice as a mate,' he thought to himself.

Terra giggled lightly, her hands lightly touching the fur on the neck of the wolf, her fingers combing through the fur. She smiled "hey, that tickles" she said very quietly and softly. She still felt dumb for talking to him, but it was helping her feel less alone. But she kept her voice quiet and gentle, as little threat in her tone as she was able to control.

Hesitantly she nuzzled the wolf's neck, his musky scent somehow soothing. She knew that she was showing nothing but submissive affection. She figured she should limit the affection part, but what could that possibly do? He was a wolf and she was not and she was certain that all of the wolves were sure of it. She would never fit in with her new canine family.

Confused by the sound she made after he licked her, Howler couldn't help but like it. He knew it wasn't a threatening sound so he again licked her along the neck, wondering if he could get her to make the sound again.

Feeling her nuzzle him, Howler pushed back into her to show that he liked it. Turning to look at her, he reached up and ran a paw down her shirt. Brushing the pads of his foot across her breast playfully, Howler started to think of how was he going to get her out of her coverings. He knew that if he was going to have her as his mate he would need to get her naked. Leaning into her chest, he brushed her breasts with his side.

As he laid back down in her lap, Howler got to thinking about the old cabin in the middle of the forest. He knew that the old hunter had left a lot of things there the girl could use... And maybe even find a way to get rid of her cloths.

Terra did giggle again when he licked her again. She smiled down at him. "Aren't you affectionate?" she chuckled. When the wolf touched her breasts with his paws she couldn't help but giggle again. She thought it was just funny that he would have touched there, seeing as he was a wolf that couldn't be attracted to her, but that was always were guys went when they were attracted to her.

She looked down at him again as he laid down on her lap again. She softly stroked the fun on the top of his head and down his neck. Staying along his spine with a distant look. Getting lost in the feeling of his ward fur pressed against her cold skin. She loved the texture of fur, but was not the type to go buy a fur coat. So she just tried to have animals around a lot. Mostly her cat, but Shiloh was one of those things she couldn't risk taking with her.

Howler loved the way she reacted to his licks. When she giggled when he brushed her breast, he knew she would be a good addition to the pack. Unlike wolves Howler had always thought human women were pretty. Terra was by far more attractive then any other that he had seen.

Laying in her lap, he sighed as she started to rub his fur. Listening to the forest, his he could tell that the humans and dogs had gone already been taken a long way away. Having the idea to use her jacket to lead the dogs away had been one of his best... Even if he did say so himself. He knew knew that Jackal would love to play with the humans, making them chase him all over.

Looking at Terra, Howler rolled over in her lap. Laying with his side against her, he looked up at her wondering if she knew that he was flirting her. Being like this to a mate was part of the mating habit that wolves went through. One side of him wanted her to know while the other wasn't sure what he wanted yet...
