BMR is in need of your, the members, assistance. At present, this means we’re looking for friendly and helpful members to step up and potentially join the Welcoming Committee here at BMR! A brief overview of what we look for and what’s expected of those in the WC position include:
1) Friendliness. This is a must, not to mention fairly obvious.
2) Consistency in welcoming people in the Intro threads. This means you don’t just welcome people for a day or two days or maybe even three days. This means you consistently do so regardless of how many Intro posts there are per day and over a long period of time. Being in this role isn’t just fun and games, it is actual work and it does take time.
3) Informative and helpful. This means you give the people who post in the Intro threads a basic run down of how the site works, what the various sections mean and where the rules and guidelines of the site are. That you point the way if they indicate needing help with something, whatever it might be.
4) Responsible. This means you not only do the basic tasks of welcoming and guiding new people, but also let mods and/or admin know if any threads in the Intro section are out of place or seem questionable. This way such threads can be dealt with accordingly and hopefully in a timely fashion. It also means being able to work with other Welcoming Committee members to make sure that all Intro threads are properly addressed as well as letting the appropriate people know if you’ll have schedule issues/conflicts (since they do arise for everyone every now and then) so that we can all adjust accordingly until your schedule clears.
For those of you wanting to help out the site in some way, this is a great way to do so. Plus, you’ll get to meet a lot of wonderful new people in the process. You can’t beat that! That said, those of you with interest, have a blast welcoming the newest members of our little community! Your efforts and the like will be appreciated and help our community out greatly, not to mention maybe even earn you a purple name! That said, thanks!!!
