It was nearing Eleven o’clock on a cool Friday night in late September, temperatures were already starting to drop into the upper forties and Roxanne was just turning the corner and beginning to walk up the street that her house was located on. She had decided to attend a high school football game with a small group of her friends from high school, more like she hadn’t wanted to go, but the group of friends were able to talk her into it, after a bit of playful teasing about how she spent too much time at home with her father. The home team, The Wayne Warriors, had been playing a rival of theirs that had remained undefeated for the year, The Stebbins Indians. In the end, the Warriors had won by scoring a touchdown in the last few seconds of the game and the Indians went home losers.
As Roxy walked up the street and neared the house, her mind began to wander to what her friends had said earlier about her spending too much time home with her father as of late. “They just don’t understand how close we are.” Roxy thought to herself, shaking her head and attempting to push those thoughts to the back of her head for now. She found her mind wandering back to the things that were said, though, but they didn’t hold her attention long because when she was only a couple of houses away from home she noticed that her father’s car was in the drive way. “What is Dad doing home?” Roxy thought to herself as she quickened her pace a bit, now curious to see why he was home from work.
Roxanne had just turned eighteen about two weeks ago and was in her senior year of high school. She had beautiful chocolate colored, curly hair that was long, layered and stopped somewhere in the middle of her back. Her eyes were this stunning Emerald color and she had radiant sun kissed skin that helped to bring out her eyes even more. She had her ears pierced once with small golden hoops and around her neck was a gold chain with a wolf paw hanging from it. On her right hand ring finger was her white gold class ring, it had the year 2011 on one side and the school name engraved on the other side. In the middle sat a beautiful Sapphire gem. Tonight she was wearing a pair of dark blue stonewashed jeans that looked as if they were beginning to thin at the knees and a black ‘Shinedown’ t-shirt that looked to be a bit too big on her. Over that she was just wearing a plain dark blue jacket and on her feet was a pair of black and Ice Blue colored sneakers.
Upon getting to the house she made her way up the drive way and up to the porch. Roxanne then took her house key out of her pocket and used it to unlock the door before entering. Behind her she quietly closed the door, unsure if her father might just not be feeling good and maybe upstairs napping. “Dad,” Roxy called out, trying to act like everything was okay as she waited a reply. Although, knowing him, as soon as he laid eyes on her he would be able to tell that something was bothering her.
