The freighter's distress beacon had been going on for an inordinate amount of time, in the uncharted parts of space. The beacon's signal did eventually find its way to a close passing scavenger ship. The freighter was a massive, though unknown design, meaning it could have tech that's previously been undiscovered making it an ideal target. A rear entrance hatch would allow access into the cargo bay, and from there into the rest of the ship. The cargo bay was expansive...but barren, save for a large cask in the middle of it, under a magnetic seal. Though, with the state of the power supply it was much weaker than it should have been.

The power cells were almost completely drained, leaving light almost non existent and life support at the bare minimum. However, none of this really seemed to matter as there was no life identified on the ship by sensors. The entire interior was barely above freezing, and if anything was breathing its breath would have looked like heavy fog.

The crew of the Hummingbird had been passing through a remote region of space when the ship's navigation system had picked up a faint signal coming from nearby. The captian had immediately set course for the floating freighter, hoping to uncover some lost technology that would bring them a small fortune. Anya did not hold such hope, knowing that anything that had survived the time had probably already been picked off. Still, logistics were not her job. All she had to do was search through the wreckage and decide what was worth money, what could be used on the ship, and what was useless junk. Pushing a strand of honey blonde hair out of her eyes, she sat in the cargo hold taking inventory to see if there was anything that they needed that might be found on the freighter.

While not looking particularly valuable, the only item worth of note in the cargo bay is that lone crate. The crate is almost a perfect square, 6 6 feet by 6 feet by 6 feet, and is made from some 'type' of alloy, though at this point nothing is known for certain. Sensors pick up the weak magnetic field, but the field prevents them for scanning it. A small power supply sits outside of the crate, and a power coupling allows it to run.

In the rest of the ship is technology that is unscanable as well, so there's no way to know how valuable, or useless, it could be.

After a few hours flight, the crew finally reached the nearly powerless vessel. List in hand, Anya suited up in preperation of the search. She and three 2 others would venture in to explore the abandoned craft. Their scanners had not picked up any life forms so they would be splitting up to cover more ground and search for anything that they could take with them. They had a weight limit to adhere to so if they found anything they would take what was neccesary to finance a return trip and make their way towards the nearest merchant planet. She made sure that the rest of the crew waited for the door locks to match up. With an audible click, the doors slid open allowing them entry. "Alright boys, let's split up. Bring anything you find back here and I'll sort through it to decide what to take and what to leave. She hit the switch on her light and ventured through the dooway in the left corner.
