Kelly Moore was only 10 when her father felling into the clutches of gambling. He spent every penny the small family of three had. His Wife did not like it, but she was a slight, quiet woman that did not question what was given her and when her husband placed the life of their now fifteen year old daughter on the line for $10,000, she went insane.
Kelly watched her mother sitting in the corner of their very small house, and they way the woman just stared into the fire that burned on the hearth. She could not take her eyes off of the face of the woman that was her mother. As she watched her mother, her fathers voice cut through her thoughts. "For the family, Kell, For the family, just for a little wile. But you will be a good girl, right? Do what he says and you'll be home by next week. I swear hunny" The short fat man looked at her, and nodded.
"Grab your things than, kiss your mother." He pushed her to the still woman in the chair and Kelly stumbled forward. Her mother did not even look her way as she leaned forward and kissed the womans cheek. Turning back to her father, she bit her lip. There were emotions that were building up, but she would not cry, must not cry. And together, they Kelly left the house forever.
They were going to the mans house. It was dark and rain pelted the windshield she they took the hour dive to the middle of no where. As they pulled up into the drive, she saw the lights on in the big old house, and her breath caught in her chest. But she got out of the car and followed the man that was her father up to the front door. And she waited.
