Ariadne made her way up the stairs, her hand running along the handrail. She looked down at the tiled floor, her green eyes glittering in the light. She loved looking down at the floor as she climbed higher. She took pleasure in the smaller things in this house, preferring to spend her time in her bedroom rather than with her father.
Ariadne reached the top of the stairs and turned right, walking down the carpeted hallway to her bedroom at the end of the hall. Inside, her room was painted a nice light green and lavender. She loved her bedroom. It was entirely her, with her painted wall, her purple comforter on her bed, and a desk. She didn't need much to get by. All of her clothes were inside her closet, so she didn't have a dresser.
Ariadne flopped over on her bed, staring up at the ceiling. Her red hair splayed out around her head like a halo, her hands folding neatly on her chest. She wondered what her father was up to. He was often locked away in a random room of the house. She didn't want to know what he was doing, but she had her own suspicions. She pulled her legs up onto the bed, her head resting on her pillows, as she grabbed the book sitting on her nightstand and began to read.
