Euan had been walking home from school that fateful day, merely perusing the latest assignment Dr. Hoffsteider had given for the extended weekend when school would be out. Euan had been deciding on whether his project would be on how the laws of thermodynamics reflected on the idea of perpetual motion or analyzing the paradox of how light is considered a wave though contains particle matter too in a written thesis. He found all the thinking quite stressful as he pondered each individual notion.
It was only until the man stumbled upon a cardboard box lying in between him and the street that he almost tripped over when he stopped thinking and began to absorb his surroundings, making sure he was walking the right way. As Euan began to continue walking past it, the box mewed as it turned out a very young and cute kitten had been living inside as it waltzed out.
The cat looked unhappy, tired, and a little hungry as well as it began to paw at Euan's pant's leg. He patted the wild creature on the head, hoping it had a home and continued to walk on just as he heard thunder crackle above and saw lightning in the now dark and grey sky.
Little dabs of raindrops speckled Euan's shirt as more thunder rolled and clapped above. He figured it must've been a storm and looked back at the saddened kit who hid back inside the old, drenched cardboard box. Euan groaned as he picked the kitten up and ran home. When he had finally got back to his house, he had been soaking wet, and began to strip his wet, clingy clothing off to take a hot shower before bed. Euan placed the kitten in another cardboard box that he had only just emptied out the other day and left a towel, not having any cat-food, so placing in a slice of sausage in the box as well as he made his way to the bathroom to shower, knowing that he'd just tend to the kitten later.
