[ Shiro ]

Minutes from the countdown of his release from school turned into mere seconds before the alarm to Gekkokaun Private Academy turned out for the evening. An almost apathetic expression steeled itself on the young male's face as thought flooded his mind; would his sister even come home tonight...did she even think about the fact she left him home alone for work lonely most nights? Shiro sighed as he meandered through the crowded hallways toward his locker with one thing in mind, he really missed his sister. He wasn't exactly the tallest guy in the school standing at about five-feet and five inches as a freshman with unique snow colored hair that fell over over his face in an emo-styled cut, hiding a single eye from view. Lither, but muscular despite his thin status thanks to kendo and a strict excercise routine Mai forced him to do to keep his health up despite his weak heart...Shiro wasn't a bad looker, just not confident and socially awkward.

When he moved outside he saw a familiar limousine waiting to pick him up and take him home. Without much thought he jumped into the vehicle and stared out the window watching the world float by in relative freedom, and he longed for it. "Shiro-sama," called his driver, "Mai-sama has requested that we take you to the Takanata Corporation Office so that you may see her today. Perhaps she will be spending the day with you, Young Master?" That little bit of information took Shiro by surprise. Usually Mai was always too busy running the company to call him in, and to see that she was thinking of her little brother brought a smile to his face.

She may have been strict, overbearing, a perfectionist, and a bit off sometimes, but he knew she was just doing what she could to protect and raise him. Shiro knew his sister loved him despite their differing views on things, and was grateful she kept him and took care of him after their parents deaths. "Maybe onee-chan will go out to dinner with me?" These thoughts brought a soft flutter to his heart as he thought about spending some time with his sister, and hoped that he was not setting himself up for disappointment. It would take them all of thrity minutes to arrive at the building, and then it would only take him about five minutes to reach the top floor office that belonged to the President/CEO of Takanata Corp...Mai Takanata.

"Ohayo onee-chan!" Embarassed, the shy boy hoped he didn't sound to eager with his statement. Shiro made his way into her office and looked around, taking a seat quietly after his loud outburst until she was down with her work. After all, he didn't want her to know that he was missing her..."meh, onee-chan, why'd you call me up here...you never call me up to the company without a reason."

[ Mai ]

Mai Takanata sat behind the large oak desk of her office, looking up from the bright screen of her computer. "Ah, Shiro-sama, there you are." The older girl murmured, pushing some papers aside on the surface of her desk. Her long black hair fell down along one of her shoulders, and her petite frame eluded most of her age of twenty. Currently her attire consisted of a simple white blouse, the top button undone to show the slightest bit of cleavage. Unlike typical office dress, her short skirt extended to just above her knees, with stylish black heels upon her feet. "As of late I have realized I have been, perhaps, a little too focused on work." She went on to say, scooting back the chair from her desk and getting to her feet. This was a fact she rarely admitted, but the realization was finally coming to her. "I figured, seeing as we are each all the other has, that we ought to spend a little more time together." A smile spread over her face, folding her hands together as she looked at Shiro.

"Wouldn't you say that is reason enough to ask of your presence?" She said, moving her hands to her hips now. "Or do you prefer your solitude, and shall I return to mine?" The girl challenged, as if daring to banish him from her sight. She could sense his shy nature, which made him all the easier to persuade. As her authority typically went unchallenged by her younger brother. Without waiting for an answer, Mai spoke up again. "I thought not." Truly she cared for her brother, and only wanted the best for him. Despite her perfectionist and controlling nature, her intentions were often justifiable. "So what shall we do tonight, Shiro-sama?" The girl questioned, moving to lean back against the front of her desk, staring him down intently.

Shiro listened to her words with a small upward curve of his lips. The fact that Mai had admitted she had been neglecting him for the business as of late reminded her younger sibling that even though she was strict with her authority, she did care about him. Like she said they were all that the other had. “We-well…” A small flush stained his cheeks as he tried not to become too intimidated by her intense gaze; she at least brought a smile out toward him earlier so that was comforting enough right? “Onee-chan…I was hoping we could…go out for dinner…or maybe, you could come home tonight and we could watch movies? I’ll cook!”

The younger of the two seemed desperate for her attention and it was only amplified by his shy, lonely nature. Even a simple request such as spending time with Mai appeared like a mountain in his eyes, if for no other reason than the fact she was the one who dictated rather than allowed him to make choices in most cases. A part of Shiro hated the fact he was so reserved. A part of him wished he could challenge her just once, but it just wasn’t his nature…but at least he was an amazing cook. The though of Mai trying to cook for him a few years back and failing brought a small smile to his face. It was good to know she wasn’t perfect with everything.

“It’s been awhile since you’ve been home Onee-chan, and I can make your favorite if you want. I’ve gotten better a cooking too…I’ve even learned some foreign recipes!” A proud smile came on his face, making him seem happy rather than lost in that apathetic isolation he normally seemed to sink in. “…I’ve missed you Onee-chan, so…anything works…but I still want you to come home tonight. Please?”

It really had been a long time since she'd been home. Most nights she stayed late at work and didn't get home till the crack of down, or ended up sleeping in her office. Her constant attention and dedication to work brought the company success, but it probably wasn't too healthy for her, either. Considering the major lack of sleep she suffered from. Spending some time with Shiro wouldn't kill her, it would probably actually do her some good.

Mai listened to her younger brother's suggestions, smiling with interest. "Dinner at home for a change sounds great. Go call the car and I'll meet you downstairs in a few minutes." Without another word she leaned off the desk and stepped back around it, starting to organize some papers, stuffing others in the drawers of her desk.

She looked forward to Shiro's cooking, God knows that was one thing she was actually no good at. Must to her little brother's amusement, as a matter of fact. Eagerness glimmered in her eyes as she started to gather her things, not bothering to check if Shiro had left yet or not.

For a moment he was afraid she might have rejected the idea until he saw her smiling. Onee-chan has a nice smile, too bad she doesn’t smile often. When she had told him to go call the car and head downstairs he paused for a moment watching her, before leaving through the doors of her office with his cell phone in hand. “Rei-san, yes, Onee-chan told me to tell you to bring the car to the front. We’ll be heading having you take us home…you were right she’s going to spend time with me!” The members of the office that listened in to his eagerness couldn’t help but smile for the poor boy. Timid, awkward, and not the healthiest, it was always good to see their workaholic boss give him a little day.

When he had made it downstairs he slipped a pair of ear phones into his ears and began to drift into some music while he waited for Mai. “I’m alive, I will sleep when I diiiie…” soft murmurs of lyrics left his lips as he thought about what he could make for her that night. She loved sweets…so deserts were definitely on the menu. It will be so nice to have his sister back for a night.
