"Yeah, mom. I'll tell dad." Vanessa sighed, sitting at her desk in her room. Her mother's flight had just been canceled due to snow. This not only meant she was snowed in with her step father but she would probably have to spend Christmas alone with him. "Love you too. Bye." She hung up her cell phone and headed downstairs, pulling a sweater over her head to cover up her spaghetti strapped shirt. She wore a pair of blue jeans that hugged her hips.

"Yo, daddy o!" She called. That was one of the things she called him for fun. She found him in the kitchen. "Mom won't be home tomorrow. Her flight got canceled." She said, hopping up on the counter so she was sitting with her back to the counter. She knew most of the time he hated when she did this but it was mostly when her mother was there to complain as well. "Whatcha making?" She asked, peeking over at what smelled so good. She pushed a curl that strayed from the clip at the top of her head.

Henry was not sure why they had not all gone together, it would have been far easier and now with the weather problems he was already fearing that his wife may not return in time for Christmas. Making sure that everything was ready for lunch just in case he had decided to make some extra tarts and pies, who knows how hungry he may get as he heard her footsteps then words, blue eyes rolled backwards as he noticed the way she was sitting on the bench. Her pet name for him one thing, this another that annoyed him slightly and glaring a little longer.
"Mince pies for Christmas. You sure that flight is fully cancelled then."He said and continued to pack the ingredients into the pastry cases.
"Just you and me, oh what fun that shall be "He said with a sarcastic tone.

"Geez, Henry, could you just pretend that you like having me for a daughter?" Nessa rolled her eyes back at him, grabbing a few marshmallows from the opened bag next to her. She bit off a part of one, letting it melt in her mouth for a moment before chewing and swallowing it. "Yeah, she said there won't be another flight available until next week but she'd bring us home something extra special." She told him, popping the other half of the marshmallow into her mouth.
She sniffed at the air and nodded in approval. "It smells good." She said, watching as his large hands worked on the delicate dough. "So I guess that means Christmas is still on?" She asked hopefully. That was one thing she looked forward to all year besides her birthday.

A sly grin spread across his face as he listened to her words, glancing at her from the corner of one eye with an almost evil inside chuckle echoing around his body. The last few months had seen him keep a few things secret to his wife, little did his darling daughter in law know but he had to keep up the pretense of being an evil step father. It was something that had started when he first entered both of their lives and was something he liked having as a way of doing most things he liked, yes he did like her and would not change that. Laughing softly "Of course Christmas is still on, we always celebrate it." Eyes met hers briefly, sparkling he downed a few sips of the liquor he was using to soak the minced fruit in before recapping the bottle and striding across to the small cabinet, opening the left hand side and placing the glass in it.
"Hope you managed to get all your shopping done."

"And the wine that's in the fridge is still going to be opened with dinner?" Nessa said batting her eye lashes at him though she knew it wouldn't do any good. Either he'd let her or he wouldn't. Her mother had promised her and it was a tradition, one that she hoped Henry would keep up while her mother was away. She watched fascinatingly when he brought the lip of the liquor bottle to his mouth. Her mother had a rule that she was ever going to drink, it would be under their roof and no where else. She had never found herself to be a big drinker but there was something sexy about a man drinking straight from a bottle. "Yup." She said with a nod to get herself out of her daydream. "I shopped online last month and got everything."

Henry knew what reaction him drinking straight from the bottle got from her mother, one of the first things that had got them together and now he had a feeling it was happening to her daughter. Laughter filled the kitchen as he prepared the last batch of pies for cooking, opening the oven and taking out one to put on the cooling rack placing the fresh ones in and closing it before setting the timer, eyes meeting hers briefly. "Glad to hear that" He said before striding towards the smaller cupboards and taking out two glasses, placing one down in front of her and sliding next to it a smaller bottle of wine. "Care to join me early."

Vanessa eyes followed him as he went about getting some of the food ready. A smile spread across her face for her step father as he past her the glass. "I'd love to." She said. At least he was nice enough to let her drink outside of just at dinner or when her mother was around. "You know I'll never pass up a nice bottle of wine." She told him, running a hand through her wild curls. She waited for him to open and pour the wine, hoping he wasn't just teasing her with false hope. She always wondered what her step father's motives were when he was overly annoyed with her one minute and nicer to her the next. She bit her lower plump lip, thinking about it.

Henry smiled as he poured the sparkling white wine into the glass, his recollections from the first few days to now were so different. Oh indeed he had a few motives and they would have shocked Vanessa's mother, he liked them both but still had to keep up some pretenses when certain people were around. Taking his glass and the bottle he strode towards the lounge. "Come join me and we can finish this off tonight. Plenty left for tomorrow."

Vanessa slipped off the counter and followed him, her glass in toe. He never usually let her drink in here just in case she got sloshed and spilled something. "You sure it's okay I join you?" She asked, taking a seat on the sofa. She watched him with a small smile. She liked him when he was in a good and generous mood. "Should we toast to something?" She asked not drinking from her glass yet.

Henry's blue eyes darkened as he watched her enter the room and sit not far from him, laughing softly he topped his own glass up and placed the bottle down on the large coffee table before taking a sip from his glass. "We can toast to all of us being safe this Christmas for a start."

Charity smiled and nodded. "That's perfect." She said, sipping a little of her wine. It tasted just as she remembered it from her birthday about six months ago. She much preferred it to the taste of every other alcoholic beverage she'd tried. "Thank you." She said for the wine again. She sipped a little more of it. "Did you get yourself anything for Christmas?" She asked.

Henry smiled and watched from the corner of his right eye as she drunk some of the wine, nodding his head slightly before shaking it and setting his glass down and stretching legs out a little. "I got you and your Mother gifts, those are the two most important people in my life."

"Do I get a hint on what you got us?" Charity asked with a smile. She sipped some more of her wine, wondering why he didn't drink any just set his down. She ran a hand through her hair as she took another sip of her drink. She had gotten both her mother and Henry a couple of things for Christmas with her babysitting money.

Henry smiled at her before reaching for his glass, taking several sips he let eyes roam around the room aimlessly before settling on the fireplace and a small ornament depicting two teddy bears hugging. "You will just have to wait and see." He said.

Charity stuck her tongue out at him playfully. She watched him look around the room. Her eyes moved back to her drink, swirling around a little in her hand. She sighed, contently. "I love Christmas. It's the perfect time of year." She looked up at him and smiled.

His eyes met hers and returning the smile warmly he laughed softly and relaxed back further on the couch, tonight may get colder yet and the fireplace would be a good place to stay near he thought to himself. "Just for the presents I assume."He said teasingly.

"No, everyone's a lot nicer, cheerier too." Charity said smiling at him. That and everything was warm and cuddly. Even if it was cold outside, you could always cuddle by the fire and with a hot cup of coco. "You have to admit that there's an air to Christmas that no other time has." She told him and smiled.

He returned the smile, widely and warmly now before standing and walking casually across to the fire. Stoking the embers he soon had the colorful flames dancing away again so brightly that they would need no other source of light for the room, turning off the main overhead lights he sat back down on the couch and took a few sips of his wine before refilling his glass not before taking another few sips from the bottle; longer ones this time hoping that she caught him doing it.

Biting her lip, Charity couldn't help but notice him as he drank from the bottle. Her breathe quickened slightly as she thought about how sexy he looked with the bottle rip against his mouth. She knew it was wrong to think like that but, the looked delicious. She swatted his arm playfully, hoping to get the images of how sexy he was out of her mind. "Great now I'm going to be drinking your spit all night." She joked before finishing off her glass. She held it out for him to refill her. "More please." She smiled at him.

He knew that indeed she had taken notice of him drinking from the bottle, it was subconsciously stirring within himself that feelings did lay there for her but what would she think as he blinked innocently at her while filling the glass up. Laughing softly. "I am sure you could handle that and more."

She smirked at him, shaking her head. "More like what?" she stuck her tongue out at him playfully. Her stomach knotted as she wondered just what he meant by that. He had often said things to her with double meanings and that always drove her crazy. She didn't know if he was meaning to or not.

He grinned a little at her playful gesture with tongue, wishing that he could do many things with it and before the end of the night he just might as he pulled her close and kissed her cheek softly. "Oh I am sure you like sucking."

She leaned into his body, closing her eyes as he kissed her cheek. "Sucking what?" She asked softly, nearly breathless. Just as before, his double meanings were driving her crazy. Her breasts ached for attention as they subtly pressed into his side. "I love sucking on Popsicle and suckers." She teased him softly.

Henry felt her young nubile body lean into his, ears absorbing her questioning words much like a mop or sponge did with any liquid substance before laughing softly and tracing fingertips lightly down her back. "Oh just sweet food huh, you don't like salty food to suck on." He said softly.

Charity thought about it for a moment, repressing a shiver as his fingertips slid down her spine. "Well they don't make a lot of salty things to suck on now do they? I can't think of one." She said with a frowned. "What would be something salty to suck on?" She asked him innocently.
