Since the day it had first opened its doors one hundred years ago, Dragon Heart Academy had been known as a 'human only' boarding school for students above the age of sixteen. It was considered to be one of the most prestige academies, and only elite students were accepted.
This year, everything was changing. The last principal had retired, and a younger, more open minded man took his place-Vincent Dyne. He was a tall man, with dark hair and bright eyes and a pale complexion-rumors about him often circled the school, saying that his mother descended from a long line of pure blooded elves and his father was a demon. Whether these were true or not, no one knew. There was no trace of either in his physical characteristics. However, what was true was that he was opening the school's door to more than just human students this year...

Mia was terrified. It was her first day at Dragon Heart Academy-her first day at a school, really. She had been home schooled for most of her life, having been prone to anxiety attacks when she was younger. It had been some time since she'd had one, and her parents felt it would be good for her to get out and meet people, and learn things they could not teach her. So here she was. Pale, trembling fingers brushed a strand of short white hair away from her face. Her tail twitched nervously and she could feel her chest tighten slightly beneath her sapphire blouse. Mia took a slow, deep breath, trying to calm herself. She smoothed her black skirt before lifting her bag and heading towards the dorms. It took her just a few minutes to find her room, the black numbers glittering-33A. She unlocked the door and drug her bag inside, glancing around quickly. It looked like she had arrived before her room mate. Mia took advantage of this and began to unpack quickly, picking the bed and dresser furthest from the door.
