(Scuse the title, off the top of my head.)
Night had fallen and the temple had become quiet, lights shining from inside the great building, the monks and priests inside having gone to perform their nightly prayers. One of the priests, a young male named Luciel had a very special task that he was to complete this night of every week.
The heavy doors of the temple swung open and the slender figure of a young male emerged from the light inside, stepping outside into the refreshing night air and beginning down a long path that lead up the side of a nearby mountain.
The slender shape of the young priest cast a shadow across the ground as he moved through the torchlit path. Luciel was wearing the robes of a servant of the Goddess of Light. Colored almost pure white with a golden trim around the sleeves and collar, a golden emblem on the chest of the robe showing the seal of his order, a great eye with rays of light radiating from the center. The robes were modest, his order was one that preached modesty and chastity above all to show their loyalty to their goddess. The robes were fastened to the young priest's body by a simple golden sash, accenting the male's slender frame while tastefully hiding his body from the eyes of any outsiders.
The young priest sandals created echoing footsteps on the marble pavement of the walkway as he walked up the path that lead up the mountain that held the shrine of his goddess. Luciel was on his routine trip to the shrine, a good distance from the temple of his order, he did this every week to pray for the coming dawn, he had been specially chosen for this task by the head priest himself.
Once inside the shrine of the goddess, Luciel lit the seven torches around the shrine, bathing the interior with light and illuminating the statue of the great Light Goddess that Luciel and his peers worshiped. The lights in the shrine illuminated Luciel's body, making his long silver hair shine and casting shadows over the smooth contours of his face, his pale skin and his luminous green eyes. For a Priest, Luciel was a pretty one...
Luciel knelt before the altar and statue of his Goddess, clasping his hands together and praying silently to the Lady of Light, whispering his pleas for protection to the statue, his affirmation of loyalty to the goddess that protected him. In the middle of Luciel's prayer his concentration was shattered, in the warm, calm of the night, he felt something evil on the consecrated ground. Luciel closed his eyes, praying to the light to protect him while trying to keep aware of the presence, eventually he couldn't ignore it any more, stopping his prayer and standing, looking out of the shrine.
"Who is there?!"
