Erika grumbled as she moved through the dark streets, shivering and pulling her jacket a little more tightly around her. Winter was coming fast and it was getting darker much earlier than normal now. Erika had only stayed at the school library for an extra hour to do some studying and already it was pitch black outside. "I really need to get back home...maybe I should take a shortcut...." Erika glanced up at the park up ahead, normally she didn't cut through it on her way home, though that was more because it was usually filled with kids on their way home and Erika didn't really do well in crowded places. Now though....it was certain to be mostly empty.
"Well it wont hurt just once....." She fidgeted, then turned to move into the park, glancing around from the entrance. It was indeed empty it seemed, the lights illuminating the path running across to the other side, Erika's journey would be cut in half by going this way. "Alright then...." She shivered again, blowing hot breath into her hands before starting to head down the path quickly, adjusting her backpack filled with heavy text books. "Man....it's so cold too....I hate winter....maybe I should get a thicker jacket...." The girl was walking briskly both to try and get home faster and to warm up a little, though she paid little attention to the areas beyond the illuminated path, focused instead on the area right ahead.
