Lucy was laughing. Why in the world would instructions come with an Ouija board? Anyone who owns a TV knows the basic principals, and it's not like she thought it would work anyway. There was a fire going in the fireplace, putting a slight flush on her pale skin with flames that would surely clash with her red hair. When the board was set up, Lucy tried very hard not to focus on why she was using it. The boy who had died wasn't even a friend of hers, but a friend of a friend who just really needed answers. Unfortunately, Lucy was not the kind of person to promise she would do something then pretend to do it. So, with a slight roll of her eyes, Lucy asked a question. "Er...Calling Jeremy...Did you kill yourself or were you murdered?" Her hands trembled a bit while they rested on the cursor.

The cheap plastic bauble, in the laminated board just...sat there. Not moving at all. Certainly the girl's shaking hands could have moved it, but nothing it just stayed there, the clear plastic circle almost staring back at her.

Then after a minute, the piece started to move...slowly, haltingly but also undeniably. The piece drifted over to 'yes' and stayed there, giving her no additional information.

Of course, as she would find out...when you stare into the abyss the abyss stares back into you. And sometimes...it does more.

Lucy's breath caught in her throat and her eyes grew wide as the little cursor began to move. Her more logical brain was trying to come up with some way to make sense of it. She settled on magnets, and laughed at the cheap board. "Yes what? Yes this is ridiculous? Yes I wasted fifteen bucks on you?" The young woman then picked up the cursor, examined it for a moment, then threw it across the room. Muttering something about wasting time and stupid superstitions, Lucy got up and settled in on her couch in front of the TV. The night being Halloween, naturally the only shows were horror movies and ghost hunters, so she turned on The Shining and in a matter of moments forgot all about the silly board and whatever had moved the cursor for her.
