Tuvasa's Underworld [Out Of Character]

To clarify, this makes it Visshara's turn, as the ghosts spent their turn being shunted out of Angharad?

Half damage from the Thunder part.

And I'll put the PCs who need to go in bold in the initiative spoiler.
I'm not super worried about exact order-so everyone, since you're in the same block, take your turns. :)

I sincerely apologize- I had sworn I had finished out my character sheet, but looking back through it while taking my action I seem to have forgot to actually RECORD the feats I'd given him. I've updated my sheet appropriately (near the end, since as handy as Mythweavers is, I keep running out of room). Inspiring Leader (which he already used earlier), and Heavy Armor Master (which I have a sneaking suspicion won't apply here).

Also DM I would like to thank you in advance for giving the Paladin some nice, classic Undead to hurl damage dice (and more importantly, Divine Smites) at. 😆

I think I wrote everything in the in character section without separating the dice (also I forgot that my rection to run somewhere else if a ghost ends its turn next to me is fairly important, probably hiding behind boone in that case)

So far the GMing and pacing has been really good!

Also final comment is that my character in combat is a pretty standard rogue, and if you need to move the story along when I'm gone for 8-16 hours or otherwise cant reach my computer I won't be offended if you auto pilot my character :D

Question for our lovely DM, because I've seen a lot of disagreements on this in my time with 5e: do you allow stacking smites? That is, channeling both a Divine Smite and a spell (like Branding Smite) on the same attack? RAW (2014) would seem to allow this (Branding Smite takes a Bonus Action, but Divine Smite just burns a spell slot without taking an action), but it's one of those things that feels like I'm breaking/exploiting something I shouldn't, so I wanted to give you the opportunity to slap my hands as it were.

It's 100% allowed.
Do note, however, that the Smite spells require Concentration. So if you choose to use one here, you'll lose Concentration on your Protect spell.

Edit: Ghost is now at -33 HP. An 11 hits, if barely.

Yes! Already had that noted, but thank you for the reminder. I have my Turn Unholy and a few more spell slots for a new Protection still in my back pocket in case someone gets got again. I'm more worried about this one wising up and trying to run, so I'm willing to drop the Protection for it.

Okay so hide gives you a roll that lasts until you do something that breaks it, in this case I would roll before my movement and then if the ghost has a perception that would make my approach obvious you would just tell me afterwards that the attempt was auto-failed. I was tripped up with other system's differentiation between movement/audible stealth and visual/still stealth :D

Also, we are NOT using flanking.
Hiding will be a good way to gain advantage, though.
thanks :D, yeah thats the difference between me separating my rolls last turn and me not separating my rolls this turn (well, I suppose if both stealth and flanking didn't apply I would reroll my damage ... )

Would that threshold only prevent physical passage, keeping the spirits in the graveyard? Or could it prevent passage across the Border Ethereal, and stop the ghosts from crossing into the afterlife altogether?

It should only stop them from passing physical places. The afterlife is separate.

I feel like the graveyard is properly wrapped up, at least for the moment.
What's your next steps? :)

Well, let me make sure I understand where we're at. We've killed those two spirits, but we're good there's quite a few more still lingering in the graveyard so it's not put to rest. I have Sarah as a mental roommate now, who we intend to keep there until we're done cleansing the graveyard. Is that all am accurate accounting?

Two spirits banished, yes.
Sarah tagging along inside Boone's mind, yes.

Cleansing the whole graveyard right now, not likely.
You got the two that were most active at the moment, but without a way to force the others to appear/take the fight to the Ethereal, you're pretty limited in what you can do.

I'm thinking rather than making a go of fighting the ghost army from LotR, we should regroup, come back in daylight, and start investigating to see if we can't find a root cause to so many restless spirits.

Yeah, the graveyard is our only real lead unless Sarah starts remembering things. We can visit the temples I guess ... maybe any known occultists in town.

I hadn't considered the temples, actually- are you thinking before or after a less-vulnerable investigation into the graveyard? I'm partial toward "bring our findings to them" but I could also see the argument for "help us figure out what to look for to begin with." I'd also be willing to conduct the investigation before we leave, but, uh... I was expecting heartier spirits and burned quite a few spell slots back there. I'm not OUT, but I'm a bit low for comfort. 😅

I'm more hesitant on looking for outright occultists, though. They strike me as being a lot like spies and jewel thieves: if you know about them, they're likely not very good at their jobs. :p

Sorry my internet finally got cut off (from a few days ago to october 9th) so I'm going to be delayed. Of course I don't mind any consequences but enjoy playing here if there's a spot for me when I get back.

Sorry to hear that- hope it clears up smoothly for you, Elven!

How do you want to handle this, Red? It would be pretty easy to stop back at the Cat to wait for dawn, and then just let Angharad hang back there until Elven's internet situation recovers. That could also give an opportunity for late joiners if you wished, since I think I saw a new applicant on the interest thread yesterday.

Alternatively, I also understand if you want to call a hiatus while we're down to only two players.

I'm good to keep going.
Angharad will be quiet and present, but not actively participating, till ElvenHealer gets good internet back.

Speaking of, best wishes to you, ElvenHealer! Stay safe!

Should I move us forwards to a temple or searching for occult individuals/groups?
Or do you still have more to talk about in this scene?
