Ah Kingston. The largest town in Jamaica and center of its trade, bringing in goods from all over the Caribbean and shipping to and from the mother country. Truly she was a sight to behold as one strolled down the streets, basking in the tropical sun while looking out upon the ships in the harbor. Everywhere you looked something was happening, with merchants bargaining for goods or getting ready to ship out, the Royal Navy press-ganging men into service, and the occasional preacher denouncing he evils of alcohol and fornication.
Of course, that could only be enjoyed if one were outside the prison walls. For Captain Robert Morgan the only view to be enjoyed were the rats fighting in the corner. He sat there, back pressed up against the rough stone wall as the two vermin clawed and bit at each other over a scrap of bread he had thrown to them. Morgan watched with anticipation as the murderous squeaks echoed throughout his cell, for her knew that he would be enjoying a but more meat with his dinner tonight after a victor was decided.
Morgan was an imposing man, towering over 6 feet tall with broad shoulders and a body tanned and muscled from toil in the sun. His body was covered in numerous scars, with a particularly nasty one carved over his left eye and down to his neck. He smirked as he touched it, thinking about the woman that had given it to him. He still owed her for that...
He had been imprisoned here for the past week, awaiting the hangman's noose for his crimes against the crown and various other bodies. He had no windows in his cell, but according to the guards that taunted him they were constructing a new gallows just for him to celebrate the occasion and apparently it was coming along quite nicely. Morgan had been the talk of the town since his arrest, the rumors and stories piling up in every inn and tavern in the colony and beyond. Morgan, the pirate who sacked over 300 ships! Morgan, the pirate who would cut out his enemies hearts and feast upon them! Morgan, the pirate who had laid waste to Port Royal, killed its governor, raped his wife, and made off with a kings ransom in riches!
But that was old news now. His sources were meager at best, but even trapped in this cell Morgan had heard of the horrible sea battle that had taken place the night before. Another pirate had been captured, this one carrying an even more interesting story than his own. Morgan had been looking forward to meeting whoever they were, as even though Kingston was a large, rich colony it was still fairly new and did not have a proper jail as of yet, having only one large cell to keep prisoners. So like it or not, he would soon have a cellmate.
