Nerath is a modestly-sized continent. Near the northern end of it lies the Nentir Vale, part of the League Of Nerath. The largest city there is Fallcrest, which has a cosmopolitan blend of various peoples. There are several other cities in the region, as well as large tracts of farmland. The further one gets from the safety of Fallcrest's walls, the more dangerous the surroundings are.

Near the southern tip of Fallcrest is a sage's manor. Unremarkable from the outside, the inside is full of scrolls, tomes, and all manner of arcane implements. And, for today, a few visitors, here to see the Sage Ellis. She is rather reclusive, but agreed to see the group here in exchange for a promise, that they would help with the exploration of a Nerath ruin.

The group found themselves just outside the main entrance. The door had no knockers, but it was fitted with a bell near the top, with a rope attached to its base.

Nimue arrives perky, even after last night's party and drinking, it is like she hadn't fallen under the table giggling at some time in the inn. Forming her armor to look like she is wearing a mostly red, but blue and silver embroidered elven jacket open all the way towards the front giving her a cleavage that shows even her cute navel. Still hiding the silky skinned mounds, her nipples not even playing peek-a-boo as last evening. Her furry boots cover her calves, the leather pants look skintight and as they are the same color as her skin, it looks like she is not wearing any from the right distance. Maybe it is because she is wearing her arms and belts all across properly, ready for anything - still, the jacket does not open more at any of her movements.

Pulling the rope gingerly to test its workings, and how heavy is the bell, she pulls on it repeatedly if it is moving easily to play a tune that she recently heard and can't push out of her head. Even if it moves sluggishly she tries to hear it at least three times.

While she looks and acts carefree and borderline childish, she is just very excited hearing more about ruins, and exploring them. Meeting with Sage Ellis is a honor, and she hopes to get some further leads on where to find the elusive Periapt of Health she is seeking so much. And maybe she has some tomes on rope tricks and bondage she hadn't seen and experienced until now...

If the door does not open shortly, she would turn back and wink at the others before trying to climb the rope - but even if they are let in, she leaves it tied with a nice knot.

Lady Asja had mixed feelings adventuring with Nimue, sure she was VERY attractive, and indeed thoughts of her that way did cross Asja's mind from time to time. But the Moon Elf seemed so different from other elves Asja had known ! Asja was generally more interested in figuring the strange moon elf out. So far Asja couldn't make heads or tails of her !

MOST elves act all aloof and stately and Asja generally put it down to them being more long lived than other races.

This generally meant that immaturity was either grown out of by the time they left their homes or otherwise discouraged due to the proud nature and perseverance of elders and insistence of respect and tradition in their community.

Asja as of yet had not got Nimue's life's story, perhaps she was considered different to the normal moon elf and rejected from their society and thought to go it out alone in the big wide world would be the best option for her?

Still the moon elf was appreciated, for Asja appreciated her antics when herself was feeling anxiety or fear. Simple acts like her now trying to climb the rope then tying the rope into a knot made Asja laugh.

"Oh Nimue, sage Ellis may not appreciate that!"

Indeed the promise of exploring ruins had gripped the adventurers, and that was a common thread that bound companions.
It wasn't just wealth and the promise of fortunes awaiting. For there were definitely safer paths to tred in life other than adventuring. For for every person that retired wealthy as an adventurer - their were hundreds that met unsavoury fates. None of them sounded like a good way to go.

And this made Asja think briefly back to her parents and her family. All had wanted her to stay with them and live like a noble and not risk herself by becoming an adventurer. But also they treated her differently to the Counts other Daughters. For being a Futanari, and an obviously endowed one at that was something that never sat right with her father. Her father didn't DISLIKE Asja, and did indeed treat her well and spoiled her with gifts and affection also, but also there were many times her father just seemed confused about how to treat her or what to say to Asja. Small things, and it wasn't all pervading. But they added up and left Asja stlightly bitter about thinking about family.

Still if she stayed loyal to their desires, Asja knew where that would end. She would be married off to someone that was three times her age, that would see her as a means to either further their own wealth through a healthy dowry or likely want to have sons to carry on their legacy or some sort. Or worse - would just want to drink themselves into oblivion and gamble their life away while fulfilling a promise to marry a noble to please other members of their family. Likely by some domineering aunt or the likes !

Nope. Asja would have none of it ! A Nerath ruin sounded a lot more interesting !

It was a shame Asja and the moon elf didn't have more with them though, but perhaps they could hire some mercenaries.

Asja had quite a bit of gold saved, she knew though that it would go quickly if she bought what she saved it for. And that was health potions. Those things were worth their weight in gold. Even if one had a cleric in the party, just having a few health potions made one feel a lot more comfortable. Besides clerics can die too, or be knocked out or be separated from one also. Sure they were the preferable way to stay alive, but backup plans definitely we needed if Asja was to troop through danger. Even if she did have a capable ally. Still the money could be spent hiring a cleric merc. But if so that likely would gut her of all the gold she had left !

Minutes passed and the sage didn't seem to be in any rush to answer his door bell. Go figure, he probably was reading some tome all so interesting or translating some passage from an ancient dialect and currently wasn't concerned with mundane things like answering his door !

Asja thought to tell Nimue to ring the bell again, but seeing her half way up the bell rope in some crazy pose, Asja thought better of it. They would be surprise enough for the elderly !

It took another minute or two for the door to open. Across the threshold was a little homunculus-it stood just over three feet tall, with lanky limbs and a single peering eye.

Homunculus.jpg

Its eye went back and forth across the guests, then it wordlessly waved you in. Inside, it closed the door behind you, leaving you momentarily in darkness. A crystal in a sconce lit up shortly after, and you could see all manner of scrolls and papers scattered around. On the left they were organized, but as you looked right, it became a mess-a mess that the homunculus was apparently cleaning.

A woman's voice came from deeper within the building. "Guests? Are you here early?" she asked. Sage Ellis stepped into view, with her elven ears pointed just past her wild blonde hair. It was full of knots and tangles, clearly having been some time since she had properly looked after that part of her body. She was dressed in a simple wool robe, warm for the cold weather, and a modest cotton dress underneath. In her left hand was a tome with a blank cover. "No, you're punctual. I lost track of time," she said. "Come in, come in! Don't mind Grob, he's just cleaning."

She stepped past the homunculus to lead you deeper into her home, and took a right to a kitchen. It was lit by more of the crystals, but an actual fire was present in the fireplace with some water over it. Ellis retrieved the hot water and poured some into a teapot. "That will steep quickly," she said.

Filled with glee from her impromptu chime-play and morning exercise, Nimue marveled at the organised chaos and stared back at the one eyed thing. As the ladies meet, she was still trying to whisper the lanky limbed helper to "Find me some books or scrolls on ties and bondage, please."

Then of course she would straighten up and recalling all her studies how to be a noble, curtsied towards the other elf - a tad late, when her back was already turned. Following to the kitchen, she started checking out the crystals and wandered around, smiling and nodding royally, but with all the time on their hands, she was letting the conversation flow over her until the tea was ready and she could start blowing on it.

Just after being able to taste the drink and hearing, seeing of what was going around her would Nimue able to get a good sense what kind of person was this long living cousin and Sage.

Grob does not listen to Nimue. The homunculus either was not instructed to listen to guests, or perhaps doesn't have a way of hearing-there are no visible ears on it. It wasn't long before Ellis served the tea. She filled three mismatched cups with it, the tea a normal shade of brown. "So, I believe this visit to be about the ogrine I requested?" she asked, then paused. "Wait... No, that's tomorrow. Today is... Is... The ruins! The former academy, yes-founded in the past age, some three hundred years after the settlement of the Nerath Empire in this area." She smiled to herself, having recalled the purpose successfully.

"It will not be without danger-otherwise I would've explored it myself," Ellis said. "The academy ruins still have active wards, guards, and charms of various sorts. And the mixture of time and potent magics can be unpredictable, to say the least. There also might be ghosts."

f8cc7fe13bbad46216a85b0c079c7b8f.jpg

Lady Asja took in the appearance of Ellis as well as the many varied objects in the room. Due to some quirk of magic,
Asja could SEE magic as if under the influence of detect magic constantly. A small boon to being limited to only be able to cast telekinesis spells naturally.

And what she saw surprised even her. Many of the objects about the room glowed, although many didn't also. It seemed this sage collected not just mundane interests but magical ones also. Some of the weaves she saw looked complicated and were of colors Asja didn't recognize. This sage must have accumulated these items over a long time, or and resources beyond what her appearance would suggest. Likely a lot of both. What they could all do Asja couldn't even begin to guess.

But ghosts ? Oh no. That could definitely be a problem.

"Good woman Sage Ellis, the pleasure may all be ours if we partake on this exploration, for I assume your not wanting a specific item rumored to be held there but want the place mapped ? Alas there is only two of us. Wards and Charms I have an option for. For my nature as a sorceress can blunt force them to unravel if I channel enough mana. This isn't fool proof as my mana isn't that of an archmagi, but it is still considerable. But I am sure there are Very powerful wards about that could best my efforts.

But that isn't the issue that concerns me most.

We are without a healer or someone that can hold the line and take a lot of damage as well as hopefully dish it out and act as a balwark. Make no mistake the moon elf and I are capable in combat, but a decent hit on either of us could spell our doom. I have enough funds to hire perhaps one mercenary of talent. But not enough for both a warrior and a healer of considerable experience.

Furthermore, I have a trinket that rounds out my spell options, but it has fixed set of spells and being able to see the invisible isn't one of them. Perhaps my eyesight can pick up some ethereal creatures if they are inherently magical, but still that would leave Nimue without the ability to see her invisible opponents. Worse still I am unsure if ghosts would be able to be seen by either of us.

Without these issues solved, we would be a poor choice of heroes for this adventure. However, with these issues solved, perhaps with us being in your debt which could be paid off once we return with your map and have your reward ... and we may have a deal."

Ellis nodded along, with an occasional word of agreement. "There was supposed to be one other-or, at least, I sent out at least three letters. I am unfamiliar with the swords for hire-there's a reason I contacted folk such as yourselves, rather than some thuggish mercenary." She drank her tea in one quick swallow, and refilled her cup. "I don't suppose either of you are more accustomed to that crowd? I do have my own guardians that might be of some assistance-Grob is a small variety of them-but they're... Not tested."

She frowned, and added "Healing is not my suit either. Arcane magic is better at destruction than restoration, and that's my wheelhouse. I have a smattering of scrolls... Grob! Grob!" she called out.

The homunculus popped its lone eye around the corner.

"Don't sass me!" Ellis told it. "Now, fetch the restoration scrolls. Anything with healing or curing or anything like that."

Grob looked at her for a long moment, then left to obey.

"The audacity of that little blue... If it wasn't so darn cute!" Ellis said, lost in her own world for a bit.

Taken aback a little at the no reaction from the one eyed helper, and the obviously distracted Sage, who did not sounded like she really cared about the ruins that much. Just something to find out, not even doing it herself... But Nimue could understand Sage Ellis' hesitation.

Hearing out Lady Asja's reply, she had her own thing to add. "Well, I think that a fighter would not be really necessary if we have a cleric... But definitely have to find someone if there is that much active magic and still this guarded. Could there be maybe a way to approach as someone interested in the academy as an avid learner, and seeking knowledge, instead of having to fight through everything? If some ghosts remained, they could be spoken with, and maybe reason. We are just seeking knowledge to hone our skills, aren't we?"

"But I am not local, came to this place looking for an Amulet of Health or something similar. Maybe you could tell me, oh knowledgeable Sage, what was this Nerath Empire and their Academy about? Would they even consider welcoming an elf, or hate the very idea? Also, about that Health focused magic item, I heard that you know things..."

"The Nerath Empire is... Was, the most recent of the empires that conquered this continent. They were a mixed bunch, in terms of racial make up, primarily humans and elves though, so I'd hardly imagine being your kind would prove a detriment to speaking with the specters," Ellis said. "This academy was a center of arcane and artificer research-while I am not entirely sure what relics and items would've survived, the knowledge there would accelerate my own research. Currently, it would take me quite some time to craft a trinket that improves one's health-but with research from the academy ruins, it could be done much more quickly! In theory."

She was much more animated, now that she was speaking of history, and her arms moved in grand gestures. "I have done some scrying, on the ruins. The outer area has no remaining wards to prevent that, though deeper within its foundations I cannot see. There is a shade I've learned of-a librarian, bound to the grounds of the academy. It seems quite aware of my rituals to view the ruins, but has taken no actions against me-that may be your best bet to learn more and gain safe access."

Grob returned, several scrolls and a book in its arms. Ellis instructed "Set those on the table, and fetch the map of the academy ruins that I've been sketching!" Grob obeyed, and retrieved the map from its place perched atop a pile of notes on another chair. "Oh, that's where I left it. But, yes, here we are! Map!" The outer areas of the ruins were extensively detailed, while the inner areas were largely blank.

Lady Asja smiled at the exchange the mage had with her familiar. Generally mages learned to love their servants,
well good ones did. Evil ones abused them, and Sage Ellis looked more impatient and animated than outright abusive, besides she did say he was cute.

Evil mages generally didn't do that.

But this confirmed it Ellis wasn't just a sage, she was definitely a mage also, and this gave Asja hope.

"Good Sage, If indeed you have scrolls that can cure poisons, heal and restore lost limbs which sorceresses can use, not just clerics, that would be more than adequate.

And Nimue your idea of not storming the place to level everything moving is a superb idea. I am a little ashamed I didn't think of it myself. IF we can get access to the research ruins without mishap, likely the ghosts or guardians would want something in exchange, even if it is promises of help from a Arch-Sage or mage like yourself Ellis.

Can I offer them this if they ask for payment for such a boon ? Or anything else your willing to give ? I know we sound greedy, but adventurers are generally very aware the mortality rates of excursions into the unknown and our only line of hope is being as prepared as we can for any eventuality.

Dead Mages trap places - traps that persist for even thousands of years. And warrior kings do they same. They EMPLOY mages to do so for places that are important to them. Generally they do so for spiteful whims. However this fact makes their traps no less dangerous for those like us.

Last time I checked my good sage I had a little under two thousand gold left to my name. If I give it all to you, could there be a chance you could add some monster summoning scrolls also ? In case we need to stand and fight if cornered, a fighter of any kind that can be good in melee better than a rogue or sorceress would give me a great deal of comfort. Or better yet..."

And with thought Asja bit her lip. She was being quite forceful asking for more help, but perhaps the Sage Ellis had such wealth she wouldn't be that much of a loss if she didn't see these things or Asja or the moon elf ever again, only to repeat hiring more adventures for the same in the following week - no worse for wear. Still the good news is that if Ellis was willing to part with precious scrolls to aid them, then it was highly likely at least ELLIS didn't think it was a suicide mission and there was a chance they would return.

".. I know some mages of considerable talent have crafted help, like golems they animate to act as work horses, heavy lifters, muscle or body guards when they want it.
If your low on summoning scrolls, lending us a golem or something similar that will not betray us, perhaps even one that is expendable could fit the bill quite nicely."

"I don't want to loose limbs..." Nimue meekly whispered when it was about the scrolls, but otherwise she let the magic users short this out. She had enough of trying to work the magic her family was known for at home, that one mage hand cantrip had been enough to learn. Even if throughout the years she got very good with it.

"Oh, if you can sense magic, you can leave the other kind of traps to me. I even know some of the most frequent magical traps and how to get through them." really she still hoped to find some trap that was more for to just capture and keep her occupied than the usual ones trying to kill her. What she was seeing in these dangers was a game that she was very good at, enough to let them win for a while if it was amusing.

"Maybe we should spend some of our coins, no more than we can get for doing this job mind you, to buy some real good food and drinks that agrees with us, just to entice the ghosts that they can get a taste through us if they are good... Not that I want to give up control for too long, but letting some other poor trapped soul have my dinner while I felt it too and got fed, that I can do. Unless all ghosts are evil, in which case we do need a cleric to send them away packing, while we find out how to free the place from them."

"Oh! And can you lend us a trinket that let us understand spoken and written languages? Would be much easier to decipher any knowledge we find and cannot carry back."

Ellis nodded along. "If you are able to communicate properly with any of the spirits, I would leap at the chance to talk to them myself. You can absolutely offer much that I have in exchange for their knowledge. And, let me see... Wait here, enjoy the tea, I'll be back soon with some more scrolls!"

She left, and took Grob with her. The room was not silent, with the crackling of the fire and a gentle hum from the illuminating crystals. You could talk amongst yourselves for a ddecent amount of time, nearly twenty minutes, before the sage returned. In her arms was a bundle of scrolls, with Grob holding yet more.

"This is my collection of battle-ready scrolls. The kind of scrolls you can activate at a moment's notice, rather than rituals. Grob, separate them into their categories, please," she said while she dumped them on the table. Grob cleared a chair, clambered onto it, and began to sort. "This first pile looks like... Restoration magic. Order from least to most powerful, Grob. These first few are simple enough that even the unmagical can activate them, but they don't provide much in the way of healing. Good for stabilizing someone on the brink of death, at least. Only the last three are capable of restoring limbs, but ideally you won't be losing any. These can handle poisons-watch the stains, though, you're going to want to make sure they're read properly. And then these ones are offensive-fireballs, cones of cold, blasts of lightning, all sorts!" The second pile, with the blasting spells, was the largest. "And this third pile has miscellaneous-detecting magic, seeing through objects-this one is very tiring-and a few summons."

f8cc7fe13bbad46216a85b0c079c7b8f.jpg

"Well if there is a commune with dead or speak with dead scroll also in there somewhere perhaps that is enough. I know some ghosts can talk to the living without aid, but I am sure such spells exist for a reason too." Asja was very relieved, the amount of scrolls was considerable.

Either Sage Ellis had so many scrolls this wasn't even a dent in her stocks, or she REALLY wanted them to succeed in mapping these ruins !

Lady Asja handed over all her gold, well MOST of it. All less twenty gold or so but didn't produce it in a pouch, for it was stored in her Renki Ring, but the action to retrieve it was fast and soon a pile of gold was present on the table before the sage.

"I am keeping a few gold in reserve for emergences, in case some is needed between now and the time we will meet again, but just under two thousand gold sovereigns is present for you.
This is for the summoning scrolls, for you have given me a few, and some look decedent enough for this to be a good bargain for me. "

Using her own innate detect magic sight Lady Asja separated the scrolls into two piles, ones that could be used by even rogues like Nimue, the other that could be used by magic users such as Asja herself. The first pile she placed before the rogue with a nod and a smile.

"This should do nicely Sage Ellis, and round out the weaknesses of us only being a sorceress of limited variation and a rogue. Nimue - does this satisfy you enough for us to be on our way accepting the good Sage's mission ?"

Asja briefly looked at each scroll in front of her, read the title of each before storing them in turn into her Renki Ring.

"If you Nimue don't have any further questions then perhaps we are ready to depart. Oh and can we keep any scrolls that we don't use ?
Or did you want them back ? I assume that the cost of these scrolls may be deducted from the reward you give us if we succeed, but of course I have no idea how valuable this map for you will be, so I am unsure of how far to push you with this Sage Ellis. So far you seem very generous, and we will make pains to map the ruins as best we can."

*Aaand here we go.* thought Nimue at the flashy show of scrolls and gold coins on the table. Feigning interest towards the written magic, - who knew, maybe she would be able use some of them somehow, at least to recover her partner in exploring if she somehow fall unconscious - the elf redhead was eager to pocket some of that gold very carefully and fully hidden. Not having to pick a pocket or break open a lock, just make one or two coins disappear, none being the wise.

Sage Ellis did not look like she would count them, except if she knew a magic tick for that. And as Lady Asja was ready to give it away, even if she was told to put it away, she wouldn't stand there to count it either.

"Thank you." she said in elven towards Asja when she took over sorting the scrolls, but aiming her words to the Sage. "Would you have some instruction manuals or novelty stories about the use of ropes and strips of leather?" she then asked in the language everyone present would understand. "And about that Amulet of Health or something similar... you do have some information about it, I presume." Nimue was ready to get only a promise of the magical trinket, but her search for one was already too long. Without some steps towards to have one, she would be very unhappy at the end of the day.

Of course, if she could have some hedonistic delights before falling into her trance, she would be back being perky for tomorrow, and the start of their adventure.

"Thank you," the sage replied to Asja. "I would like you to return any unused scrolls-we can work out what money goes where when you return. You trust me to be fair, I shall extend the same to you." Then, to Nimue, she added "The location of an existing Periapt is not something I know. But, as I said before, it's something I could make. It would just take a few years-but that's right now. The ruins you'll be exploring should have information, formulas, all manner of research that can aid me in my crafting. Perhaps even some ingredients, reagents or gems or whatnot, that could work as the base of a freshly made item."

She stood up. "Is there anything else the two of you require for the moment? Need to rest before leaving? I have some spare rooms, if you'd like. Just need to have Grob address their clutter."

"Some spelled reading glass or other kind of magical item to be able to read any language we encounter? Or at least I hope there is a scroll or two to that effect here..." Nimue tried to get the sage's attention again, if she wouldn't be getting reading or looking material about any rope works.

Otherwise she wouldn't mind getting to stay and keep exploring the cluttered house "I can help Grob, and do not mind some clutter if we are staying. It is not like I sleep, in beds, after all." she offered the elven sage, showing a little of her birthright. Being an eladrin has its own perks, and she did not have to pull her noble family's crest out to gain some respect.

"What Lady Asja decides, I wouldn't have anything to say against that. We can stay and study while making a little order in the clutter, or go and look for something else to fill our time until the morning. Hopefully someone else turns up to join this expedition, and i already tasted all the food and drink that this city can only offer."

Ryder: It was late and he had traveled far to reach this Sage's abode. He knocked on the door loudly, ignoring the bell. He called out in a loud voice "Hello, I know I am late, I had some trouble with bandits along the way. Is anyone still awake? I can sleep outside but I would appreciate a place for my horse. Stormy is exhausted and could really use a warm place to sleep. You have stables yes?" Ryder leaned against the door frame.

Middle of nowhere, or so it felt to him. This Sage had sent a friend of his a letter, A cleric. The cleric though was unable to come so he had asked Ryder. There are ghosts involved, the cleric handed Ryder an amulet that would negate visual affects of the ghost, Something like true seeing as he described the affects, Ryder would see the ghosts as they appeared in life. Negating their appearance affects. "It is all I can give you, but this ruin should be investigated." Ryder owed the cleric more than one favor so he had traveled far to arrive here. He looked at the bell and yanked the rope a few times. "Hello I am here by the request of the Cleric Bill Hansen. I have his letter you sent him and a letter of introduction from him. I am here for the expedition to the Ruins."

Ryder was not good with people, he spent most of his days in the wilderness. He had joined expeditions time to time to tackle larger obstacles, or by the request of friends. He hoped this group would be patient with him. He might be a bit crude, but Ryder had a big heart. He had many scars to prove his courage in the face of danger. Right now he was tired, he wished there had been an Inn nearby, a warm stall for his friend Stormy and a hot bath and warm dinner for him was all he really wanted at the moment. Instead he was standing outside a locked door waiting to be noticed.

"Grob, get the door," Ellis told her homunculus, who departed for the entrance. "The Nerath Empire was recent enough that linguistical drift shouldn't be too bad. I've shied away from using spells to translate words these days-too unreliable, prone to misinformation."

At the door, Ryder was there for the door opening, which revealed Grob. Its one eye looked him up and down, and then beckoned him in.

Ellis poked her head to spy Ryder, and smiled. "Ah, the muscle! That should help this expedition. I trust you two to get him up to speed-my home is yours, just be careful you don't set anything on fire."

We can assume you two just tell Ryder all the various things that need to be told.

Is there anything you all want to do before moving on to the ruins themselves?

Ryder looked into the one eye of the construct, "I would have expected someone bigger?" He followed Grob into the room where three women were. His face colored a bit. Three women all pretty, two stunningly beautiful. The sage was obvious, the one appeared to be some sort of mage type? The other might be a fellow Ranger. No other men? What had Hansen set him up for here? He cleared his throat "aye, I have a strong enough back to handle my share of the load." He recovered enough of his wits to ask "Do you have a stable here, my horse.."

"Oh, good evening, sir!" Nimue looked at the newcomer, checking him out from head to toe and back. Cataloging what she was seeing and what she could only guess - weapons, state and style of clothes, how rich he was, and if he looked strong and healthy enough, his bulge, and if it was natural or armored...

"If you want, I can look after your horse, I know a stable near by..." she offered, mainly to see if the Sage had a stable herself, but also wanting to get to know all of her fellow travelers. "Anyway, we was offered a room, even if it is a little clustered, but Grob would take care of that easy, if we helped." there was no need for them to take more than one room, and possibly no more than one bed, after all, as she was eager to get to know her fellow travelers.

She could still fall into trance elsewhere if the humans snored.

Still, she had to get away for a little while to order some food for the morning, for the road, and depending on how far the ruins was, some quality food and drinks to offer to the poor ghosts is they was friendly enough to offer her body. Unfortunately she only had experience with an elven ghost, a shrieking one, who was really angry at humans - and orcs, but that was a given - but heard her out. That time her offer to lets go and party with the driads and satyrs as one had enough merit to not get her head shrieked off, as the ghost laughed. Nimue could not remember everything clearly of that night, but when she recovered, she was naked and bloody, among a group of dead human mercenaries and a dead hunting group of orcs, miles away from the glade, and nowhere near the ruins of the elven village where she met the elf ghost.

He looked to Nimue with a shy smile. "It is fine Ms. really I would tend to Stormy one I know where the stable is. He can be a bit unfriendly to those he doesn't know." Ryder was fearless in battle but women made him a bit nervous, he somehow seemed to anger them more often than not. He had found the less he spoke the better they liked him. Tavern wenches bedded him quite often and most seemed reluctant to leave his bed when the sun rose. He was well gifted and he paid attention. One thing about Kabar was he always did his best. fighting, contest, or sex. Kabar always gave any task his very best effort.

"If someone would just give me directions that would be appreciated.. "your welcome to guide me Ms. If you want to? You could tell me what I need to know as we walk. I have what I need to live for a week, maybe two. I can get us a pack horse and supplies, tent for you ladies. It is late tonight but in the morning, if there is a place nearby. I can outfit for the trip, is this all of us?"

"It is Nimue Dormaris, Mister. And that is Lady Asja with Sage Ellis. Unfortunately the two inns of Fallcrest are on the upper side, above, on the bluffs. But we have an open, grassy meadow close by where Fallcrest's merchants and visiting traders do business in good weather. There is some horses of the visiting traders, even if most of the trade is done on the Nentir river..." she looked around, but it seemed that the two spellcaster was occupied with the scrolls and whatnot.

"I need to order some ales from BlueMoon anyway, and checking out Sandercot for provisions is a must. Unfortunately there is not much chance for me to get some quality food to bribe the supposed ghosts with." she sighed "Unless I climb the cliffs to get to the Inns, I can just pray and search the market down here." while she could always climb up to the Moonsong Temple and seek the help of elven priests in search of good food... But as the ghosts wasn't elves but humans, that wasn't the best choice either.

"So be it Ms. Dormaris. I will follow you and.." He smiled with a light laugh, "be honored to carry your purchases back here." His eyes were curious though "you said somethin odd just now though? Buying food to bribe a ghost? I was given an amulet by Hansen, he is a cleric the one they sent for actually. It is to help me fight the ghosts. How would you bribe a ghost with food though. They can not eat it? Would food not just aggravate the situation. I don't mean to intrude on your plans but would you be willing to explain this plan to me." Kabar was honestly curious, it was revealed in his eyes and expression. He was a terrible liar, so bad in fact he almost never even tried to say anything he didn't believe.

They were walking as they talked and outside she would see Stormy, he was as tall as Kabar at his shoulders, a massive horse. Kabar offered him a half a carrot as he approached and offered Nimue the other half. "His name is Stormy and if you feed him the carrot, introduce yourself he will likely accept you as a friend."

"Just Nimue, you nameless hunk, and we will get what I order in the morning. Yes, these ghost could be just the staff and students of the former academy, and while they can not eat or drink, I am not against doing all of that and more giving them a ride in my body. It sounds a fair exchange of time that we want to spend exploring the place searching for, and saving knowledge. Sage Ellis wants to know more about what remains inside its magic protections, thus why she helps Asja getting ready with spells. As for myself, I am more about the traps and tricks that awaits us. You would be better to fight any guards we can't reason with, I heard them speak of summonings as a possibility. This Hansen, what kind of cleric is he? Why would he want to kill ghosts through you, when he can just send them to the afterlife finally? Of course he would need to find out why these poor souls are trapped here, first..."

"What a nice horse!" the elf redhead took the carrot and fed it to the horse lovingly. She would speak in the elven tongue to him, introducing herself with her full lineage from Corellon's tears of beauty.
