Fox:
Shuichi was lucky his mother was such an understanding woman. Her trust in him caused a clawing guilt that he promptly stuffed down into his gut. She offered no questions when he called her and informed her of an impromptu study trip for school, but he had more important things to think about. Namely, the detective he currently had his back to while he shook out a bed roll supplied by Genkai. The old woman had demanded the group of teenaged heroes spend the night in the distorted house she had conned them into entering. There had been a brief discussion on who slept where, and his boyfriend had instantly piped up for them to room together. He had no qualms. In the end, Genkai and Botan shared a room, as did Kaito with Yana, and Kuwabara was left with Kido. Botan never did pet his head until he fell asleep.
Kurama set the bedroll down beside Yusuke's, though he doubted they would use both. A frown etched itself onto his features. In fact, it had been stuck there since the door closed to leave him alone with his detective. His detective who was too dense for his own good. Part of Yusuke's charm was his habit of punch first ask questions later, but that endearment had a limit. He hadn't shown it, but the moment he read that ransom note worry had clawed at his belly and fear threatened to cloud his judgement, but he was so good at staying focused on a task at hand. But now the danger had passed, and he could allow himself to sort through his emotions.
"You need to be more careful, Yusuke," He started quietly, his eyes locked on the wolf gang print bedding. "You cannot allow yourself to fall into another trap such as this..." Green eyes glanced back at the other teen before returning to the floor. "I worried I would lose you," he admitted with a soft sigh through his nose.
EDDE:
After hours in captivity Yusuke was feeling incredibly antsy. He tossed the pillow in his hands lazily down onto the mat he'd now messily prepared for himself. A frown had fit itself firmly on the lips of the foxy human he was sharing a room with practically the moment they were alone. Chocolate eyes had seen fit to avoid gazing his way the moment the detective had noticed as much.
He expected another lecture, and really it was more than the expectation a naturally guilty conscience tended to have. Yusuke had screwed up royally. He knew as much for sure at the moment. And he had little doubt he'd be getting an ear full about it from just about all of the friends who knew at some point or another.
Then again, it wasn't just that he was expecting that lecture from Kurama. The frown that creased that pretty face hit home a lot harder than he was willing to show at the moment. Because while he wouldn't have to wait long to hear exactly what that frown represented, he had a good idea already. And honestly, it really bugged him knowing that he was the one who caused that look; along with the feeling that came with it.
Still, there was no helping his natural tendencies. Almost as if to make up for the heavy feeling being pulled from his gut over the thought of what Kurama was thinking about, an air of nonchalance drifted off him nearly the moment the redhead began to speak. Tight lipped with a tilt in his head, chocolate eyes avoided an emerald forest quickly through a roll of his eyes. "Yeah yeah," he huffed, sounding perfectly bothered. "I heard it all before. You don't gotta rub it in."
The detective gave another heavy stretch of his limbs, the need to shake off the stillness of his capture rolling through him all over again. There was barely a break between words for a breath before he complained for at least the third time since he and his shadow had been let loose earlier on. "Eesh, I don't think I ever stayed still so long in my life. I don't get how the old bat can keep thinking up these kinda cruel punishments for when I screw up like that." A warm chuckle pierces his throat as hazelnut eyes finally found their way over toward the other teen. "I hate how she just knows."
Of course, there was no way to know for sure if the torturous hold had been a part of things for that reason or not. But it wasn't like he would ever put something like that past the old crone.
Fox:
An unseen preen lifted the fine hair along the back of his neck. He should have expected such an easy going response from the detective, such was the teen's nature after all, but he couldn't help but feel a bit slighted by it. He couldn't even find remorse in the huffed out words. As if the fox's internal panic were being scoffed at. He wasn't Kuwabara, for which Yusuke would feel the urge to keep bravado, nor was he Genkai for which snarky comments were made in tandem. Should a boyfriend not expect a bit more compassion? Sympathy?
Yusuke ranted on about being forced to stand still, and Shuichi bent over to pick his pillow back up from the bed roll. When the detective looked up at him, the fox was staring down at the pillow, his expression thoroughly displeased. "There are far worse methods of torture," he replied curtly. "You are lucky it was friend, not foe who held you captive."
In a terribly uncouth display of frustration, the pillow was swung at Yusuke's face with enough force to whistle through the air. Feathers puffed into the air as Kurama let it go. "You did not just put your life in danger with your thoughtless stunt, but ours as well." Shuichi's eyes narrowed on his boyfriend. He had to fight to keep his shoulders from sagging in a defeated sigh. He stood straight and tall. "And, I was left beside myself with worry for you."
EDDE:
Green eyes didn't land back on him as he offered that frustratingly playful smile of his. It told him enough on its own really. But if he were being honest with himself, he'd already recognized this tension, and its difference between now and before. It would have bothered him a lot less if the older teen had looked at him with that disappointed face instead. It alone could have wiped the smile off his face. What he had to say did just as well.
It was just as he'd opened him mouth to retort. Of course he was lucky that he threat had been friendly. But instead of being able to respond as he began to recoil from his stretch, he was hit roughly with what he could only guess was a lead lined pillow. Because a short yelp and hard crash onto his ass later there was no stopping how stunned the act from the pristine and proper fox left him.
For the second time today he was caught completely off guard.
"Hey!" The angry growl bubbled past the pillow as the detective pulled it away from his face just enough to land a hot glare on the redhead. A look that vanished quickly.
Instead chocolate eyes focused down on the newly distracting object as he fixed his seated position and set it in his lap. For a quiet moment he picked at the feathers that were poking through the fabric, his own frown settling on his face. Though to be fair he wasn't nearly as good at making that face as Kurama was.
"That's the whole point and I get that," he offered lightly. The tune in his voice had calmed from that boisterous nature of his and gained a serious lilt. "It's a shitty way to learn a lesson but I gotta admit it was pretty effective."
Hell, chances were that if the entire ruse hadn't been played out like it had, he probably wouldn't have learned the lesson at all. "Look. I knew I really stepped in it right when things went wrong, okay? S'not like I don't understand just cause look like I don't care to."
But that wasn't the part that had puppy brown eyes peeking up at his boyfriend the way they were just after his little confession.
It was twice now; twice that Kurama had mentioned that he was worried. And the distress he'd already gathered from the look of him before that was enough to hit home in just as strong of a way as the lesson had. "I'm Sorry," he muttered even lighter than before. "Really."
And as his hands rested on the pillow and his entire focus honed on his boyfriend he looked it too.
Fox:
The hot glare sent his way was met with a stern gaze that continued to bore into Yusuke even after the detective turned his attention to the abused pillow in his lap. Kurama had to stifle a Hiei-like snort. 'Shitty way to learn a lesson,' he said. The fox could think of far worse ways to learn it. In fact, with this particular teaching, Genkai had been kind in comparison to what the world could have brought down on its own. In fact, Kurama himself had made it a kinder lecture. If he had lost to Kaito, then Yusuke would have been faced with the knowledge that his entire team would have died, because of him had it not been a ruse to begin with.
Not that he would have lost. The stakes had been far to high for that to be an option... But if his classmate hadn't laughed...
Shuichi had a mind to berate the young teen, but he couldn't bring himself to. Not when he watched Yusuke begin to crumble and finally taking on the guilty posture he should have been in from the beginning. Or at least once their door had closed. So when those big, puppy brown eyes looked up at him, the fox's expression was softening. It took only one more word for the tension to leave the redhead's shoulders.
The fox closed his eyes and the smallest of smiles began to tug on his lips. "Good," he started, opening his eyes again and turning to walk towards his boyfriend. "I'm glad." When Shuichi finished, he was standing behind Yusuke, and gracefully lowered himself onto his knees, legs spread to allow himself to get as close as he could without being flush against the other teen. With a quiet, relieved sigh, the fox wrapped his arms loosely around the detective's neck, his elbows resting on shoulders.
Leaning in, Kurama rested his chin on his arm to press their cheeks together comfortably. "Learn from this, and I will forgive you," he promised gently before slipping in just a little bit closer. It had been a while since they shared this close proximity.
After being found by his mother, Kurama hadn't wanted to see too much of the young detective; but right in this moment, that didn't matter. After spending hours in fear for his boyfriend's life, nothing else mattered. Only the warm body he was holding closer and closer, the beating heart he could feel against his arm, the warm scent of lemongrass, and the feeling of peace he felt while embracing Yusuke. "If you managed to get yourself killed this way, I will personally pull you back from Spirit World just to kill you myself." The threat was halfhearted at best.
EDDE:
Yusuke was skeptical of the movement as the redhead made it. How could he not be with the look that had just been landed on him? Even with the smile that followed. Despite that though, he didn't move away.
If he were gonna get some kind of punishment, he most likely deserved it. If not for the redhead, they'd probably all be dead if this whole thing hadn't been some kind of screwed up game. And if that had happened, it would have been entirely Yusuke's fault.
It wasn't like he hadn't had a shit ton of time to think about his fuck up when he couldn't move for hours.
What he got instead was a pleasant weight on his shoulders, and he relaxed against it instantly. A happy little hum drifted between them as Kurama presented his deal. Yusuke would have agreed to it purely for the happy feeling that cheek against his presented as he leaned back against that weight. But instead he put all of his attention back into rubbing at it lightly with his own.
It had been a while.
Yusuke still wasn't entirely sure what had kept his boyfriend away from him almost entirely for a while now. But he'd at least gathered it still had something to do with the talk that the older teen's mother had had with them after they'd been caught the last time. At least according to the only awkwardly spewed words he'd been presented with when he'd finally gotten annoyed enough to ask once the initial shock of it had worn off for him. The detective hadn't been nearly as traumatized as his boyfriend over the awkward, horrible image inducing exchange, but was reminded properly by that same cold reaction each time he'd attempted to even visit.
He'd had plenty of time to think on that too; plenty more than just hours even.
Although the newly allotted time he'd had on this particularly dragging day had seen fit to remind him. He was about to mention in words how much he missed the closeness. Though the hum and strong hands having found their way up to cup and then tangle their fingers probably said it well enough. Besides. He was forced to focus on the next set of words pointed his way. It forced a bubbly, but short laugh from his chest.
That snarky tone of his returned and the roll of his eye was probably palpable despite not being visible.
"Oh please," he chuckled out jovially. "We both know I'm gonna die stupid. I'm the kinda guy who jumps head first at speeding cars, remember?"
He was wracked with another little chuckle, this one a little more cruel and pointed purely at himself. "But don't worry. I'll do what I can not to drag everyone down with me next time."
This was when he turned, his nuzzles only having stopped when the laughter had been forced from him. And the turn was only in his head. The soft look chocolate eyes landed on the pretty face beside him showered nothing but warmth. And despite the words themselves that fell from them, they mirrored the same time. "You be ready to come get me."
Even through his attempt to stay snarky, that obviously failed as those large eyes fell on an obvious goal of plush lips, he couldn't keep up the silly notes. "And I'll be sure to stick around as long as I can."
Fox:
Their fingers laced together, and the fox squeezed his hand around Yusuke. He felt the same way, after all. How he'd missed his boyfriend's touch, his kiss, his voice, his simple presence. Thoughts of his mother and the horrible, nightmare inducing words she spoke, were far from his mind. He could focus on Yusuke, and Yusuke alone, everything else seemed pale in comparison. Even the impending doom hanging over the city of Mushiori meant nothing in this short moment. Shuichi sighed softly and ducked his head, nuzzling into the teen's neck like a needy puppy. Though he'd never admit to such a comparison.
Kurama huffed softly, breath hot and humid against thin skin. "Stopping a car with your skull to save a child is vastly different from walking into a trap out of cockiness and boredom," he pointed out, though the accusatory tone had faded off. He almost complained when the detective moved. He'd gotten so comfortable, and Yusuke's scent was making him swim with an unbridled joy that still put the fox a little on edge. Even after their time together, falling apart so easily for the other teen felt so strange, despite how right it seemed. But the fox allowed the shift, pulling back a little to do so.
Green eyes caught brown, and the fox let the tip of his tongue drag along his lower lip slowly, knowing the other teen was watching them. "I will hold you to that. I will not forgive you, if you die needlessly." There was more he wanted to say. Words of not wanting to be left behind and alone, of fear, of joy of... Everything, but none formed. None except for two. They were softly puffed, and even had the slightest hint of color reaching the bridge of the redhead's nose. "Kiss me," he ordered, already dipping his head to meet his boyfriend half way.
EDDE:
Chocolate eyes slipped up to the forest over those pretty lips after seeing an eager tongue dart over them. The movement told him the redhead had seen his attention, and the same thought had crossed his own mind. The peek mostly came in due to the light hearted threats that were continuing to come his way.
He was glad he looked.
Even though the words were much more light hearted than theyd been before, they were still deeply felt. Maybe not so much the threat part, although to be perfectly honest he suspected Kurama could probably find a way to follow through even with the ones that didn't sound entirely possible. But he wasnt focused on that anymore. Not right now anyway.
Instead his attention were on those eyes. Large, bright green gems that couldnt lie to him no matter how much they wanted to. He saw the flicker that ran through them. A flicker that brought up heavy, heaving feelings he wouldnt know what to do with in the moment if his life depended on it. And while he thought it was totally possible he was projecting those feelings onto the redhead, in a way he kinda liked the somewhat sickening, frantic attack they wrought on his heart and gut.
Chocolate eyes widened as words he wasn't quite expecting formed on soft lips. For whatever reason, he was expecting something totally different. He didnt know what, but it wasnt that.
The widening of his eyes wasn't all surprise, as a twinkle of excitement pierced them right along with it and ge was gravitating toward the mouth closing in on his own without a proper thought even forming in his mind. "Kay."
The heavy feelings were pushed to the side; the distracting ones at least. All he really wanted to pay attention to was the closeness he was about to be allowed after just about a week and a day because man, was that a refreshing shift!
Their lips collided and before he allowed himself to do anything else to deepen it he was slithering around to reposition himself to face his well-missed boyfriend. As soon as he managed and all but tugged him right into his lap as he sat on his own knees between those long legs, his tongue was searching for entry to apply long learned swipes across the roof of the foxy humans mouth before the opposing tongue could battle his back.
In that moment he was craving the deep set shivers tickling pressure could pull straight from his partner's groin and nothing else. He wasnt the best at planning ahead anyway.
Fox:
This feeling... it was painful and wonderful at the same time, and only grew stronger when their lips met. It was familiar, yet strange. It brought to mind a pair of leathery wings wrapping him in a warm cocoon. That was the closest he'd ever gotten to whatever it was that was clawing at him now. It was confusing and he didn't understand it any better now than he did then. It was frightening. An old instinct was telling him to flee. To escape this trap before it sprung.
But it felt so good. As jarring and confusing as it was. As painful as it was. The trap had already sprung, and escaping it now would only bring agony. His lips quivered against Yusuke's just slightly.
A muffled 'Mnn,' came from the fox as he was quickly pulled up into Yusuke's lap. Heat rose to his cheeks, and long red lashes rested over them when emerald eyes fluttered shut. Kurama obediently spread his legs to let his boyfriend settle between them, then squeezed his thighs tightly around Yusuke's waist. Long arms coiled around the other teen's neck, pulling him in closer and parting his lips for that inquisitive tongue. A moan was muffled by their kiss, and the fox rolled his hips as tingles tickled his spine. Each swipe of his boyfriend's tongue over the sensitive ridges along the roof of his mouth pulled another sound, caused another shiver, and Shuichi melted with soft whimpers.
A thought lingered at the back of his mind while their tongues danced a familiar waltz. This was too easy. It felt as if he were rewarding Yusuke's moronic behavior by giving in this way. He should flip the teen over and force a bit of humility into his cocky partner, but it was just too difficult to pull away. It had been so long since their last meeting, and every cell in his body was craving the attention he was getting now. The redhead couldn't deny himself any longer.
"Yu-mnn." The teen's name was muffled and broken off by the molding of lips, but the fox continued to try and moan it out appreciatively regardless. Long fingers grasped at the back of the other's shirt, pulling them closer together, grasping desperately at the man he'd nearly lost.
Yusuke had the lovely habit of 'making it better before making it worse.' Shuichi would let him make it better, then take over making it worse. For now, he just wanted to feel.
EDDE:
Whatever the Hell it was, that heavy thing only managed to gain about a ton in weight to put a pressure down on his chest and wind pipe when they Kurama easily submitted to his prods. Although thinking on it a moment longer made him realize that, no, it wasn't just that. And even though he'd missed the touch of his vulpine lover immeasurably over the past week or so, he didn't think it was just that either.
He wasn't maddeningly frustrated in any sexual sense even if he did miss it. He wasn't so starved for attention that it would hit him this hard. To be perfectly honest Yusuke was a million times more used to being rebuffed in his life than he was to the near constant affection and pleasure he and Kurama had engaged in since this had all started on Hanging Neck Island. He could handle that kind of frustration; and any ache or pain that happened to come with it.
The part he couldn't figure out was what the Hell was making his chest, throat, and eyes burn in an all too familiar way. And the weight of it...
No, this was totally different. It was deeper and heavier than anything he could ever remember feeling before. But really the only answer he could come up with for the reason he felt warm liquid sneaking it's way down his cheeks as he forged a near desperate endeavor of locking lips and tongue wa a what he had done; what he should absolutely feel as guilty as he should for in endangering almost every single person he happened to care about... And Hiei.
The situation was probably too complicated for him to understand on any proper level. The best he could figure was that he felt absolutely miserable for what he had done to his partners, that he understood the gravity he should be feeling in knowing that if not for him every single one of them could possibly be dead if not worse right now, and the absolute, almost manic relief for how everything had happened to turn out instead.
He'd only brushed Kurama off before because he fully understood the implications of everything that had happened to him and the people closest to him today. That knowledge was what had spurred him to ignore the first time he'd said he was worried as something other than what it really was. It was only this particular feeling on a lesser level than what he was currently feeling that made him realize exactly what he was saying when it came up the second time. Kurama was trying so hard to say his name as they pulled apart, but the desperation wasn't only on his own side. He really just didn't have the type of understanding it required to understand what this really was. He could only guess.
That didn't stop him from doing anything else he got the urge to do either in spite of or because of this heavy feeling.
Having taken a heavy grip of the base of his redhead's skull at some point he didn't really remember, he used it to force apart their lips. The simple act of straightening out two of the fingers against the hold of the rest of them pressed his boyfriend's head to lean forward and down just enough to separate their connection when he forced his own to do the same. Pressing their foreheads together Yusuke allowed himself to catch up in soft, huffing breaths. Stained eyes remained closed as he groaned out his foxy human's name lightly, basking in their closeness without having to face whatever look he might get for the slightest of water works he'd momentarily suffered for whatever reason it turned out to be.
The detective had take a sharp hold on Kurama's thigh with his dominant hand; a hand that had been previously squeezing and massaging over various learned tender spot as he had pet up and down his body while rocking lightly with the movement supporting the weight in his lap. He hadn't recognized the roaming hand. He often joked it had a mind of its own. Though in this case he'd simply been too overwhelmed to realize he was doing precisely what he had wanted to do with it from the moment the door to the room they were in had closed behind the two of them.
It only took a moment, long enough for puppy brown eyes to peek open to look at his lover as he pressed their foreheads together and mewled out his name once more. After that moment those puppy eyes drew back into their silly, devious glint and a familiar smirk rolled over his lips as he made his offer as enticingly as he ever did.
"Let me make it better. I'll make it worse in the best way after that." Granted, this time the words held a lot of meaning that didn't pertain only to their current situation.
After all, he'd made things pretty bad in the worst way once already today.
