Black Dahlia Remembrance Thread

Hey there, Blue Moon! In particular, this thread goes out to the old members of Black Dahlia Roleplaying. I noticed that a lot of those old members were congregating on a particular introduction thread. After giving it some though to how I would feel if Blue Moon were to go the way of the dodo, and worrying that the intro thread might get locked for the off topic conversation, I wanted to set up this thread for the old Black Dahlia members to chit chat about their memories.

So, chat away! Post your old usernames, reminisce about memories, lament old RPs, the whole nine yards. I wasn't a Black Dahlia member myself, so I'm probably not going to be chatting much in this thread. This should also help newbies hit their 3 post requirements, should they find this thread, I think.

One quick thing before you get to the reply box: I have been informed that this thread might have a bit more of the admins' eye on it, just to keep everything on the level. So, keep Blue Moon's rules in mind, and try to keep things positive. This is a remembrance thread, after all; dunno if any sorta drama happened on Black Dahlia, but this thread certainly isn't a place to continue anything like that.

Anyways, chat away, and I hope newbies from Black Dahlia find a new home in Blue Moon Roleplaying!

I barely used it, honestly— I never found good, consistent hits there, and I found it much more clique-y than Blue Moon. I'm excited for some from over there to give us a try, and look forward to meeting all the new potential partners! c:

I only learned it existed at all once people started migrating here. I searched pretty hard when I first started wanting to RP for a site like Blue Moon, and really only ever found it and Elliquiy. xD

Black Dahlia was my first dedicated adult roleplaying forum. Not my first time delving into that genre of roleplaying, including on forums, but the first time that it was explicitly for that purpose. Made a few friends on that site, which drew me to try out other forums, including Blue Moon here. Despite not having been on Black Dahlia for perhaps four years now, I'm sad to see it go - especially since it'll be a loss of at least some of my work... though a fair bit of it seems to have sadly been deleted already. Oh well.

It feels very odd for it to be shutting down now, I've been there since 2018, which maybe doesn't seem so long but, to me, it feels like a life time. I really hate to see it go but nothing lasts forever, I suppose. It was by them that I found this place, actually. They listed their associated sites and I decided to just come over here to see how it goes. I already miss BD though.

As much as I enjoy seeing an influx of new members, I hate that it is because another site went down. I don't think I've ever visited Black Dahlia, but every other RP forum I've been active on (adult-themed or not) has either disappeared from the web or effectively flatlined in terms of activity.

And as far as I'm aware, no new independent forums are popping up, with a lot of writers instead migrating to places on Discord or Reddit. It seems to be a trend with most hobby forums (and frankly, most of the entire internet) over the past decade, but I've especially noticed it with roleplaying places -- though probably just because RP is among my biggest hobbies.

Anyways, welcome to all newcomers. I hope you'll be able to find a new home here.

I've never heard of this forum before people started talking about it being shut down on BM. Seems its name is rather morbid, so did it have a darker sort of theme in its local culture?

Not at all. It had a darker theme just in colour scheme but otherwise it was like this site is, more or less. People look for the stories they want and go about their business. Occasional troublemakers would come in and get the boot, but otherwise it was a generally friendly place. Just came to hard times and I think they decided enough is enough.
