"Ah...I've been walking for too long. My legs feel like they're going to give out..."

The skies above the large rain forest were gray and gloomy, signaling that a storm was near. While it was fairly common for the rain forest to have frequent rainfall, today looked like it would be even worse, with thunder and lighting. All of the inhabitants of this habitat had already begun to seek out shelter as the booms of thunder hovered overhead. However, there was one individual in particular that was not native to the rain forest, but she was seeking out shelter as well, knowing that she wouldn't be safe in this sort of weather...

It had already begun to rain a little bit, with the wind picking up as well. Her bare feet splashed through the little puddles that had been formed as she rushed through the rain forest. The young elf had moved from her own land to find a new place to live, but she had to move through this area to go any further. She was almost naked at this point, having to toss some of her clothes since they were hard to move in and they got dirty. With the weather like this, it was likely that she's be stuck here for the night. A flash of lightning above her made her cry out in surprise. "Oh...it's getting bad." she muttered to herself. She looked around for any type of shelter. She had wrapped her arms around her body, shivering a little from the cool air. Plus, her body was soaked from the rain, and her nipples were erect as well. She noticed that there was a rather large plant nearby, and she quickly made her way toward it. Luckily, it had some very large leaves that could cover her up. As she slipped under the leaves, she had to curl up a little to avoid the rain. It wasn't very comfortable, but it worked. Despite the thunder and lightning above, she manged to slowly drift to sleep...

When she awoke the next morning, she could see that the storm had passed, even though it did still look a little gloomy. It wasn't likely that it would rain anytime soon though. She slowly began to crawl out from under the leaves, gasping as a few drops of water fell on her bare back from brushing against it. She slowly moved to her feet, and for the first time was able to look around at where she was. It was actually a very beautiful area. She couldn't look around earlier since she was trying to find shelter. This place didn't look bad at all. She shivered a little bit still, followed by a little sneeze. It seemed that she was affected a bit from last night, but it wasn't as bad as it could have been. She had decided that she might live here. Of course, she'd have to prepare for those rainy days...

She turned to the plant that she had used for shelter, going over and rubbing it gently. "Well, you certainly are a life saver."

A little rain was no issue for any of the native creatures. Everyone of them ad some shelter, or some hide-out to endure the downpour in. Though, some where perfectly capable of simply enduring it without any shelter. Though, the 'King' of the jungle was one of the last category, but he preferred to make a nest and live there. He was a massive creature, perhaps 14 feet long from snout to tail tip. His thick, scaly hide was coloured after the deep browns which where common to the jungle floor with the bark of the trees and fallen, decomposing leafs on the ground. His four footpads where large, broad, and had large and dull claws at the end of each digit. The large and long head, with jaws filled with teeth really showed the world of his reptilian lineage. The tail and bumpy back did make it obvious.

Soon after the rain had stopped, he started his patrol anew. He wasn't that hungry, but he didn't see it as a good enough reason to slouch in his nest of moved logs and large jungle leafs. His slow paced, almost wobbling slow walk propelled him fast enough to make good time to cover his territory in a day or two. But only a few minutes after he started, he felt a scent. At first he believed his senses was tricking him. The heat did that to him sometimes, he felt the presence of females that simply weren't there, but there was something strange this time. It was a female... But not of his kind.

An elf!

The realization made his heart flutter. He felt a stir in his entire lower body, most noticeably the large and dangling sheath between his legs. So, sparing no time, he aimed towards the source of the faint scent of an elf, and started walking.

She continued to examine the plant, which appeared to be one big flower that had yet to bloom. That, or it had closed up during the rainfall. She figued that it might open up again if she gave it enough time. With that, she decided she'd explore this area a little bit. She'd have to get familiar with her new home after all. She figured that she was the only elf in the area, as most of her kind didn't wander too far off from their own land. All the creatures she saw were of the usual: birds and the like. She hadn't really thought about any possible predators, though elves were known for combat as well. She wasn't the best at it, but she would at least be able to defend herself in case she was attacked. She wasn't worrying about that right now though. She paused as she heard something nearby. The crackling of wet leaves and twigs had caught her attention and whatever it was sounded lie it was nearby. She backed off a little bit, but soon the figure was made known to her. Slowly, the large scalie creature made it's way from out of the shrubs. She was surprised, never seeing a creature quite like this before. She had seen snakes and lizards before, but this was clearly different. She didn't worry about running, as it didn't look like it would catch her anyway. In fact, she actually started to approach it, a little curious to see it up close.

He was quite possibly one of the largest predators in the jungle. Walking on his fours, his shoulders would reach 5 feet from the ground. He was walking on rather bent legs, but they where bent straight under the large body. It wasn't like any normal lizard where the legs where spread away from the body. He was able to have a rather graceful stride in comparison.

As the elf moved towards him, he could see her within moments, finally. As they met, he stopped. His large head slowly turned to face her, and his large, yellow eyes where on her. He decided to be theatrical about this, so he inhaled and let out a deep and echoing introduction. "I am Rom, and who enters my domain?" It was a deliberate attempt to make himself sound regal and respectful. They where both true, but she would need to be informed of such things.

She was far too intrigued with this creature's appearance to pay attention to anything else around her. His shoulders were already at her own height, showing her just how small she was compared to this creature. Their eyes had met, and neither of them moved from their spots. for a while it seemed as though they would simply stare at each other like this even longer. What surprised her was that he was suddenly talking to her. Reptiles didn't just suddenly talk to you all of a sudden after all. According to his words though, he appeared to be the ruler of the area, and she was trespassing. "Ah, please forgive me. My name is Leiva. I had spent the night here and I was hoping to reside here as well..." She wondered what he would think about that, having an outsider suddenly looking to join.

Rom was surprised to see an elf in the jungle at all. Not to mention that this elf was alone without much one could call clothing, or survival equipment. He had seen armed and and dangerous adventurers, and she looked nothing like that. He guessed she would have a hard time to survive on her own, despite whatever knowledge she would have that would help her to survive. It was a struggle for the creatures that where born to survive here, so she would definitely have a hard time... that is, if she didn't get help.

"You plan to immigrate? You plan to stay here?" He asked her if she was sure. She already said that she was hoping to reside in his domain, but this was just part of his way to cement her idea of doing what she had hoped to do. Then, he wanted to raise her hope.

"You may. Though, I am the King of my land." He let the words sink into her ears, and he took a few steps closer, aiming to circle around her with his surprisingly balanced stride. "And in every normal kingdom, the inhabitants pay a fief to the King."

Leiva simply stared back at him with utmost bewilderment. Never in her wildest dreams had she seen something quite like him. What made it even more interesting was the fact that he could speak, and they could understand each other! He was right to assume she wasn't dangerous, especially with her lack of clothing. She had to get rid of some if it if it got dirty or slowed her down.

"Yes! After all, I was able to find shelter here from the storm last night. I want to give back and look after this forest, my new home. After all, I don't think I'd be so well right now if I wasn't able to find shelter.

She paused as he continued to speak. She was quite happy to here that she could stay. "R-really?! I can stay here?" she asked with a great deal of enthusiasm. His next words surprised her a little. "King?" she asked. She watched cautiously as he began to walk around her, almost as if waiting for the right oppurtunity to strike. "W-well, what is it that I need to do?" She'd do anything if it meant she could live here.
