This time it was going to be different, this time there would be no accidents, no mistakes. This time, Weylan-Yutani was going to harness the infinite potential of the Xenomorph. After the disaster on LV-426 that not only resulted in the loss of a colony, but also the derelict spacecraft on which the Xenomorph eggs were located, and then another disastrous recovery attempt on Fiorina-161, the company had thought the genetic code of the Xenomorph gone forever. However 60 years later, a discovery was finally made. When setting up a new colony on the outer rim the colonists had discovered the withered husk of a Xenomorph hive. There were no longer any living occupants, but deep within the researchers had discovered several hundred intact eggs. After careful retrieval, a new space station was constructed in deep space, far from prying eyes, to carry out research.
The station was vast and had close to a thousand inhabitants. Not only the research staff and detachment of marines, but also their families. The station was so large that it had many civilian facilities and needed a civilian population to keep it running smoothly. Rather than keep the civilians in the dark however, they had been entirely informed of the work going on at the station. After all, ignorant people were more likely to cause accidents, more likely to stumble upon something they weren't supposed to by accident, and it was acidents like that which led to Xenomorphs being given the oppertunity to escape....which always led to the loss of all human life in the vicinity. And so the civilians knew that the Xenomorphs were on the station, fear keeping them more than in line. That and generous pay-offs for their silence, the promise of more to come provided that silence remained.
Rather than trying to tame or train the Xenomorphs in their current condition, this time the company was taking a different approach. They had altered the Xenomorph DNA whilst still in the Facehugger stage, genetically engineering them whilst still within the egg. Whilst Xenomorphs were intelligent, that intelligence was driven entirely by instinct. Now the scientists had increased that intelligence, the aim being to allow the creatures to understand human speech, to comprehend it and obey orders.
Natalie was the daughter of one of the chief scientists aboard the station, so she knew a little more than most about what was going on. She knew about the Xenomorphs like everyone else, but she also knew a little more about what was going on, what work was being done to them, and it fascinated her. The creatures fascinated her. Maybe she had inherited that from her father? Wherever it came from, she thought the creatures were amazing.
Unfortunately, Natalie didn't have the best life on the station. She wasn't the best looking girl aboard, she knew it and the other kids at school made sure she knew it aswell. Ok Natalie wasn't the slimmest girl around....but still...she wished they didn't go on about it so much. The girl sighed as she looked at herself in the mirror, poking her flabby stomach, then scoffing and turning away to leave her family quarters, making sure to be quiet. It was late at night and she had decided to satisfy her curiosity.
Moving swiftly through the corridors, Natalie avoided all the security patrols on her way to one of the observation rooms where one of the altered Xenomorphs was held. She knew it would be empty at this time, so she'd have all the time she needed to just watch the creature. On the way she spotted a group of boys from school, stopping to stare at them from around the corner for a few moments, then sighing softly. Oh they were all so good looking...she wished so much they'd notice her in a good way...ask her out on a date...kiss her....do....naughty things with her. The girl shivered, dirty thoughts entering her head as she moved to proceed to the observation room quickly and quietly, slowly moving inside and toward the glass. She assumed it was one way, that she could see the creature within and it couldn't see her. "Hey there guy....." She smiled, leaning against the glass, watching the imposing creature within, her earlier thoughts still in the back of her mind.
