Zhenya's wardrobe consists mostly of black, tailored attire. He wears it as if it's his uniform. However, he's also a man of extravagant tastes and also harbours clothes that are a little more eccentric (Eg. Long coat with leopard-print satin lining; coyote floor-length coat).

Zhenya's right ear is pierced with a minimalist, small gold hoop. He never changes this out. He also consistently wears a gold signet ring upon his left thumb. Zhenya typically adorns himself with multiple chain bracelets and other rings, but will not wear these if he's expecting to get bloody (gore is just so hard to clean from jewel-clasps).

Zhenya was born to a male-Omega, Artyom Golovins, whom fled Russia while pregnant, emigrating to Belhaven (fictional city). They lived in relative comfort for the first few years of Zhenya's life, until Artyom became severely ill and died when Zhenya was six. He has little memory of Artyom.

Zhenya showed resolve and determination, surviving on his own on the streets of Belhaven for an entire year until he was caught by the Boys Home. When he was discovered, he was still wearing the same clothes from the night Artyom died, and had a ripped piece of cloth pinned to his jacket inked with his name; Zhenya Malahkov. He still bears this name.

Unknown to Zhenya at the beginning of "Blood Sport", his heritage is one of violence and organised crime. He was sired by an infamous member of Russia's Bratva (mafia), Dmitriy Mikhailov. Dmitriy was married to a woman at the time, and engaged in a heated extramarital affair with Artyom for several months, resulting in the pregnancy. The pregnancy was not recognised by Dmitriy nor the family, and there were threats upon the Artyom's life if he did not abort the pregnancy.

Artyom was descendant from old Russian aristocracy. He was shunned when it was realised he was engaging in the affair with Dmitriy, and outcast from his family as result. Pregnant and in fear of his life, Artyom fled Russia and settled in Belhaven, planning to start a life of his own and raise Zhenya away from the world of violence and greed.

Dmitriy is aware of Zhenya's existence and life in Belhaven, as well as his rise in power. Still, he does not claim Zhenya, and Zhenya remains unaware of his ties to Dmitriy and the Russian Bratva.
