They used to be highschool friends. Elizabeth had no place hanging out and talking to Nash - being one of the most popular girls in school - but they were spending every waking moment with each other.
He was a nerd; his room was covered in video game posters with bookshelves stuffed with comics of various types from various places. He was a total loser, he knew that, but he was lucky to have her friendship.
Her friends teased her all the time for being with him but she didn't care. She thought he was funny, and she liked that about him. She liked how he saw her for who she was, and not for being popular.
Nash was head over heels for Elizabeth. Wanted to date her since day one. But it was as fruitful as chasing a star. It wouldn't happen. Every time he tried, something would come up. At this rate, he'd never get his chance.
And the sad truth of it was, he never did.
They graduated highschool and were forced apart through separate colleges and eventually lost touch all together. But he never lost feelings for her. He thought about her everyday and wished desperately to find her one day.
He wouldn't miss his chance then.

Elizabeth had a rougher time out of highschool. She was popular, but dedicated. She went into work, and got married. Due to her busy office life, she began filling out. Gaining weight caused her husband to look at her differently. Things began going downhill for them after that.

Nash did well for himself. He was still a nerd, but definitely grew out of looking like one. He was handsome, and had many female callers. He turned them all down politely though. His heart only belonged to one girl.

She needed to get away from it all. The divorce was final, she didn’t fit in her old clothes as well as she did before, she felt so alone. Her office posted a sign up sheet for an event in Las Vegas, hotel room, good food, all for a convention. She signed up without a second thought.

Maybe it would do her some good to get away for a few days. Even if it was for work, at least her mind would be busy.

Nash was going to the same convention, asked by his boss to represent the company. He was happy to; and plus he could drink in the downtime? It was basically a vacation.

It was a short drive from McCarran to her hotel, which was a fully comped room in Mandalay. It was nice, and an easy walk to the casino's many bars and restaurants as well as the convention area.
Nash was staying in the Delano, which wasn't much further from everything but still pretty close. He looked out his window at everything and made a noise. He couldn't wait to get out there and have fun.

She sat in her room for a moment, trying on her new swimsuit just to see how it looked before packing it up and setting up her clothes.

There was no time to rest; in a couple hours people would be headed down to the convention area to talk and mingle and hear from various companies about useless and boring things. Nash made sure he looked presentable before heading down early; he wanted to make sure he would commute on time as well as have room to be nosy.

She headed down to the convention floor to help her team set up, gathering flyers as she got ready to hand them out as she walked the floor. She made sure to undo a few buttons. After all, sex sold, and a sale was a sale.

He made it thankfully with 45 minutes to spare. He walked the floor slowly, looking everything over with an all too keen eye. He had to see just what these other guys were doing, after all.

He almost tripped. There was no way. Absolutely no fucking way. He moved to try and find the familiar fur again, but decided to keep his distance just in case. Don't be a creep.

Long, light blonde hair, that laugh that caused his knees to go weak. She was different now, she’d filled out beautifully. It was her.

Oh, my God. Oh, my God, it was her.
"Liza..." He muttered under his breath, his tail wagging slowly. How could he approach her? Should he even? Would she remember him? He became embarrassed, trying to hide in the crowd. He couldn't show himself to her, not yet.

He waited before moving over to stand beside her, making it look like he was getting a snack and water as well.
"People often say that Disney is the Happiest Place on Earth, but clearly no one has stood next to you." He said.

She laughed softly, her face flushing a bit. “What’s with that one liner..?” She asked, looking over. “Very smoot-“ she paused. “Do.. I know you from somewhere..?” She asked, looking him over. Her ears flicked back and forth as she concentrated. “Oh my god, Nash?”

He grinned, tail wagging gently.
"I was gonna say something about us going to school and having chemistry, but it would have been too literal." He replied.

She laughed softly. “God it’s been years, how have you been, what are you doing here?” She asked, her tail swaying. She really hadn’t changed much at all.

"Oh, I'm here with the company." He flashed his convention badge, "I've been good, though! Got swept up in work! Look at you, though, you look..." He paused, his eyes softening as he looked her over, "you look more beautiful than before..." He finished, tone holding a faint longing.
