Question On using the wrong prefix

Is this a reportable offense, or something relatively harmless and just inconvenient? Specifically referring to choosing a prefix stating one thing and the post itself looking for something else. Ex: using a m/m prefix and explicitly only looking for m/f. I didn't find anything about this when I was looking through the guidelines, but I could have missed it and just wanted to check. Thanks!

Not any offense I've ever heard of, and you can edit it if it was chosen incorrectly. Some people do use the prefixes to look for the pairings they commonly like, and will end up leaving your thread if they start to see M/F when the prefix says M/M. But no, nothing reportable.

In my experience staff will usually reach out to the member to see if it was wrongly tagged when they're reported. It's not a "rule break" per se, but it's easy to ask and maybe correct it if the member needs help. Sometimes the member doesn't understand that we go by character gender, not writer gender, or they may have just misclicked.

I've also just PMed people when I've noticed inconsistencies and they're usually cool with pointing it out. Fixing it to match the content only helps get more bites.

Yeah, there's no rule break for a wrong prefix, but we'll reach out and see what's going on and if we need to change it due to an error or anything.

So it's okay to report erroneous prefixes so that a mod can reach out to them, even though it's not a rule-breaking issue? What about threads that don't have a prefix at all?

Prefixes are not required, but you can absolutely could report something if you feel it was an error, for us to reach out to the member!
