Alison stretched as she awoke, yawning and slowly starting to sit up, shielding her eyes from the sunlight streaming between the blinds covering her bedroom window. Today was going to be a great day, she just knew it! Today was her 16th birthday, though it was also the birthday of her twin brother, who of course declared himself the eldest as he had been born a whopping 30 seconds before her. "Feh, stupid brother...." The girl rolled her eyes, standing up out of bed and stretching again, sniffing the air and licking her lips. The smell of their mother cooking breakfast was thick in the air, and her mom was the best cook Alison had ever met.
The twins and their mother lived alone, they had never known their father, and their mother never spoke of him. If the subject ever came up, then it would quickly be changed and forgotten about. Of course the twins didn't know that their mother had a perfectly good reason to avoid the subject. Their father....hadn't exactly been normal. Well, he hadn't been at all normal. He had been....well....half of something from way above the earth, and half from something deep within it, some strange forbidden mixture of demon and alien life form. The twins mother was always scared of just what their father might have left their children....
Fortunately however, both twins seemed to be completely human in appearance and the way they acted, something their mother was eternally grateful for.
Once she was awake, Alison went to head into the hallway, going next door and banging on her brothers bedroom door. "Hey! Time to wake up! Come on breakfast is almost done!" She pounded again, then as usual reached to open the door and stroll right on in to her twin brothers bedroom.
