Tired.
She grew tired of the same routine every single day. Wake the children up, get them ready for school along with take them to school, and see her husband off to work. Meanwhile, she was stuck at home by herself, cleaning, shopping, and doing whatever else she needed to do for that day ____ even having brunch with her friends. Shannon loved her life, but doing things repeatedly, was boring. She needed excitement and something new to make the spark within her become a flame.
The house was quiet until her husband came back home and went upstairs to work in his study. She exhaled a sigh because she wanted to have a little bit of fun before he went to sit in his study. Shannon lowered her head before it perked back up while she was placing dishes in the dishwasher.
After she placed the last dish in there, her ears twitched with a knock on her door. She wasn't expecting company, but went to the door anyway, and opened it to see her brother staring there before her. Shannon stared before a shriek of excitement escaped from her, which caused her husband to come down the stairs. She ran up to her brother and hugged him tightly then looked upon him once more. "What are you doing here?" She inquired while waving her hand for him to come inside and explaining to her husband that it was her brother, whom he greeted with a handshake before going back upstairs.
"Are you done with your deployment?" Shannon asked further as she directed him to the kitchen, where she leaned forward against the counter.
She hasn't seen her brother in quite some time but this was definitely a surprise, a distraction, and may be the excitement that she had been expecting or hoping for.
